S4E16 Nothing as it Seems

Nothing is as it seems this week because it’s just the two of us – no special guest! We discuss the return of Porcupine Man from “The Transformation” and how we feel about how he is handled. We agree that it isn’t necessarily a highlight episode and we point to a scene especially that seems a bit contrived. We also voice some frustrations about the leaps in logic that this episode makes, but don’t worry, this is still Fringe, though, so we definitely also have plenty of good things to say!

SILY 668- Disorganized Progress

Who do you think of when you think of a highly organized person? Perhaps you’re like me and think of a TV or movie character like Monica Geller or Claire Dunphy. You know who doesn’t come to mind? ME! For today’s story let’s jump into the time machine and go back to the early days of my career at the bookstore.

SILY 667- Failure to Communicate

George Bernard Shaw said, “The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.” Communication is tricky. On one hand, we are all communicating something, verbal or non-verbal at all times. On the other hand, I think most of us have significant room to grow in this area. I think most communication issues arise not from things said, but from things unsaid.

S4E15 A Short Story About Love

We hope that you have fearless… auditory passages (?) because we are here to share a short story about love along with frequent feedbacker Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania as you’d prefer). This was such a fun episode to record especially since we love some aspects of this episode and not so much others. We love that we get some counterbalancing feedback from Geoff (xforce11) as well as some feedback from Rory, Anna (not Torv), Erin, ShelkyBean, and Patty from Canadia!

SILY 666- Old Testament Laws Explained

For most of us, reading the Old Testament is not fun. All of those names and laws are difficult to read and are the reason many who have tried reading the Bible from cover to cover often fail once they get to Leviticus. Those books do serve a purpose, though, and today we’ll explore that. It’s a bit of a deep dive, but because the laws are so misunderstood by today’s culture, it’s important we take the time to explore this fully.

Visions of the Future

What happens when ordinary people are granted extraordinary glimpses into the darkest corners of reality? Both “The Purple Testament” and “What’s in the Box” explore the terrifying burden of unwanted knowledge.

Do You Know Icarus Listener Feedback

Do You Know Icarus Listener Feedback

With this being such a phenomenal episode of Debris, it’s absolutely no surprise that we received the most amount of listener feedback this week than we have gotten so far this season! (We thought that our plate of nachos last week was full, but it was even fuller this week!) Our plate this week consisted of Nachos like Jacob, Brian (The Christmas Guy from New Hampsha), Wayne, Geoff (xforce11), John, Kome, Barb, Bradley, Brian (Zeppelin Driver), Emily (Soggy Nacho), and Patty from Canadia, and we also heard from several of you via our social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook! Nachos, as always, bring some fantastic material to the table such as the potential scientific significance of the colors in the episode. Read More…

Walking Distance

Walking Distance

These 3 pairs of boots were made for walking the walk and the distance to a weird stroll down your hometown’s memory lane. Feedback caller extraordinaire, Bradley, sits in on his favorite classic episode. Robert Mr. Magoo‘d his observations again as he missed details, and Darrell and Bradley easily noticed every small intricately placed mirror angle and shading. Bradley dazzled us with theories about alternate realities and Robert just plain got dizzy keeping pace and settled for the view the episode is just a simple fun tale. Listen in and let us know how you felt about it. We‘d love to hear/read your thoughts. Read More…

First Rides for First Timers

This week David and Bryce discuss Disney news from the week! During the main segment, David and Bryce answer a pivotal question: What is the first attraction you would take a first time Disney guest on from each park around the globe? A classic ride? A dark ride? A thrill ride? Some of the answers may surprise you! Read More…

Do You Know Icarus Review and Breakdown

Do You Know Icarus Review and Breakdown

We have been saying for a while now that, for the most part, Debris just keeps getting better and better every week, and “Do You Know Icarus?” is no exception! What an episode! What an episode! What an episode! (See what we did there?) We get phenomenal performances from so many of our cast members such as Jonathan Tucker, Riann Steele, Norbert Leo Butz, and especially Jennifer Copping (in an absolutely heartbreaking scene), and Joel Wyman delivers on the Fringe references this week, especially in regards to the fan favorite episode “White Tulip”! (This is the second time so far this season that Joel has given us an obvious reference to that episode, so is he just innocently paying homage to a beloved episode, or is there more to it than that?) “Do You Know Icarus?” employs a clever and playful storytelling tactic to flesh out and develop our characters as well as reward fans who have been paying attention to little details, and we can’t wait to see how this arc gets resolved next week. Will Bryan be able to get back home, and if so, will this debris cause any lasting repercussions on reality? We also cannot wait to hear what our Nachos have to say, so be sure to connect with us and leave your feedback about this episode of Debris!  Read More…

569- The Spark of a New Dream

When I started working at the bookstore as a part time cashier in the fall of 1994, I considered it to be a good job that would help me pay my way through college. After I dropped out of college, I put all my focus toward excelling at the bookstore so that I could get as much experience as possible until I figured out what I wanted to be now that I was growing up. At some point along the journey, I realized that the bookstore was a great place to make a career. Read More…
