Visions of the Future

What happens when ordinary people are granted extraordinary glimpses into the darkest corners of reality? Both “The Purple Testament” and “What’s in the Box” explore the terrifying burden of unwanted knowledge.

SILY 665- Monday Mailbag

Thanks to Geoff for sharing his struggles today. Especially for men, I think, it’s hard for us to admit we need help and accept that help. That mentality is often detrimental to our wellbeing. Geoff has shown us an example of humility and wisdom in action.

S4E14 The End of All Things

We are joined by Jerame for this episode as we discuss one of the best, most pivotal episodes of Fringe! Join us as we talk about what we love about this episode (especially the fact that we finally, after 75 episodes, find out “who or what” the Observers are) but also a couple of things that have us feeling just a tad frustrated.

SILY 664- Establishing Healthy Habits

Sometimes we fail to allow grace in our own lives. Once we miss or fail for any reason, we allow those feelings of failure to defeat us causing us to miss more often or quit altogether. It’s important to understand you will miss the mark sometimes. It’s equally important to think about that up front so that you have an understanding and a plan for how to respond and get right back to keeping up the good habit you’re trying to maintain.

SILY 663- The Bookstore Mutiny

I struggled for a long time about whether or not to share this story with you because I felt like it was a story that was not very common and therefore not very applicable. But then I realized this story is very common. If you peel back the layers a bit here, you realize that the first step was the thoughts in the mind of one or more of the employees. They were disgruntled for whatever reason and allowed those thoughts to fester.

S4E13 A Better Human Being

Join us this week as we talk all about what it means to be a better human being! Pavla and Darrell dive into this episode that has many parallels to the Fringe pilot and “Marionette.” We take a look at the developments in the Peter and Olivia relationship, the impact the music has on one particular scene, discuss Walter’s behavior toward Peter, and earn some cool stuff about the Czech Republic.

For the Love of Machines

Are machines capable of love? Can they learn, adapt, conspire, or feel emotions? They definitely can in the Twilight Zone! In season 3, Ray Bradbury contributed the episode, “I Sing the Body Electric,” inspired by Walt Whitman’s poem of the same name. After losing their mother, a grieving father acquired a robot to help love, care, and raise his children.  In season 5, Bernard C. Schoenfeld contributed the episode, From Agnes, With Love” in which a computer programmer is tormented by the jealous computer he works with at his office.

Star Wars Prequels vs Sequels

Star Wars Prequels vs Sequels

The original trilogy of Star Wars movies are unanimously agreed to be the best of the three trilogies, but how do the prequels and sequels stand when put against each other? The prequels have gotten a lot of criticism for many years, with the prequels only recently being more praised than trashed, and the sequels have been a controversial discussion among the Star Wars fanbase since the release of the Force Awakens. This week, Blake and JJ are tackling this topic, talking about the pros and cons both trilogies have, from their plots and characters, to their memorable moments and musical score.

S1E9 The Dreamscape

Join Chris and Darrell this week as they enter the dreamscape and talk about killer butterflies, toad venom, corporate conspiracies, faulty memories, and more!
