The battle has been won. Esme is safe at home. Alex is a married woman. Kara is committed to being true to both sides of herself. We now live in a National City where the citizens know that Kara Danvers is Supergirl. She will use words to save the day and fists only when absolutely necessary. She will always be our Paragon of Hope! What will happen now as our adventure continues? Look throughout the Universe for all our Superfriends. I am confident they will pop up to lend a hand as problems arise starting with Sentinel in the five-part Flash Armageddon Event.
However, before we dive into whatever drama is brewing elsewhere in the Universe we need to hear from you. You know how Green Butterfly and Silver Vox feel about the Supergirl finale but what about you? Here at Maid of Steel you are the star of the show. You are the most important part of the story. There was a lot of anger, sadness and trepidation leading into this pair of episodes. Now that they have aired, did the story within them bring you any closure? My hope is that you found some joy in the characters we have all loved so much. Now it is time for my favorite part, an episode dedicated entirely to you, our listeners. Television shows will come and go but Super Friends are forever!

Some blog post comments…
AWE THE BANNER PHOTO! ❤️❤️❤️ I’m going to miss them so much. ? #HeartOfTheSeries! ?
“Kara is committed to being true to both sides of herself.” – because she wasn’t already apparently; hey writers, we did this already in season one. If you try to unwrite that so you can just rewrite it that’s not character progression but bad writing on your part.
“She will use words to save the day and fists only when absolutely necessary.” *cough* already done by season one *cough*
“Who was the MVP of the final?” – CAT GRANT easily! Also Nia though because she’s always been on point since she got here; a shot out to Nxy too.
On to the podcast…
“the once aired series” ?
I disagree Ken in regards to your take on the fight between the sisters, it was just for drama – they don’t know how to do layered writing anymore.
Spoiler alert for my feedback on any series overall topics – we got a good start and a crap ending and it all comes from them forcing Kara to be her cousin instead of herself and letting all the interesting plots drop because…why? This is why people are saying “Stargirl” is the best now – it’s not afraid (yet and hopefully never) to do organic drama plots and be a bit dark at times. Just because your source material is bright and shiny it doesn’t mean you can’t have some dark in your show.
The best thing on the series to me was Alex until the last episode of season five when they spat all over her #NotAllHeroesWearCapes by putting her in a suit, that’s just not Alex long term. Something I won’t be able to ever let go of – the sisters because they were so great together and it’s a tragedy we don’t have more with them! Also the cast in scope of talent; they don’t realize how lucky they are with this group, easily you could have at least two spin offs from this core (Alex and Nia – we may get her via comics from Nicole) but are they – no. ?
“because bridge” – lol!
K-Vox is the best Vox. 🙂 ?
Thanks for thinking of me with the reporter joke. ?
Another reason “Stargirl” is the best currently – when they kill a kid it sticks! 🙂
Of course they don’t care Daryl!
PREACH Carey; Melissa is definitely my Supergirl! Same, I missed a lot of emotions to scenes I feel were suppose to be emotional as a viewer. I’m STILL surprised no one spoiled Cat’s return!
Like I said MOS was the constant bright spot with the series…while episodes might be a chore to watch sometimes I wanted to get through them so I could talk to you all about what was happening. 🙂
Shouldn’t Kara be Esme’s godmother? Lena never liked kids except being the “cool aunt” – see her comments at the girl gathering in season three and Alex was talking about kids and asking Sam about Ruby.
“I’ll miss the characters a lot…the writing not so much!” – ha, same Geoff! 🙂
Great feedback as always Leslie and I agree with a lot of it!
Lol to Phoenix’s “Last Gauntlet” recap. 🙂 I DEFINITELY agree with your MOS thoughts and comments on the fandom!
Miss you Monty! ?
Ooh Kara mentoring as a nod to her being mentored is a great pitch Abby.
Great use of the interview clip at the end! 🙂 How I wish the writers remembered Kara isn’t Clark also. Again she will be my Supergirl first and foremost forever.
it’s especially bad writing if they think they can push kara’s coming out story to the last ten minutes of the last episode. i really agree kara and alex’s fight was just because the writers think for some reason that sister drama is needed when it is not! kara can become esme’s godmother by marriage. supercorp lives!
“Kara can become Esme’s godmother by marriage. Supercorp lives!” – lol.
Honestly, SuperCorp would have made this season better and I say this as someone who doesn’t ship them; at least then some emotional scenes might have emotions to them because yeah again a lot of “emotional moment” content in the final especially left me feeling dull because it wasn’t earned in my opinion.
I guess they thought having Kara come out in the last few minutes was a way to say “and the story continues” in a sense, but in reality all they’ve done is forced her to be just Supergirl because again SO many people are going to be hounding her now! She can NEVER go undercover anywhere, again enemies are going to just explode out of the woodwork and the kidnapping rates for family members will be an all time high…CatCo is going to blow up with useless calls, if she stops supering because of the lawsuits you know she’ll get people will call her a quitter and bad mouth her which will break her spirit…there’s just so much pressure with people knowing your identity.
True she could go back to Argo and be a regular person and I guess in some way you could say that was full circle for her but she’d be leaving behind Alex and that’s not okay…not to mention others! The DEO had those portal devices but they blew them up in season five so they’re probably in the sun now given everything else is in there so any trips back would take awhile and long run make it easier for her not to come back if she left. They just screwed up so much over the course of this year alone it’s tragic to think about right now and it’ll be that way for quite awhile I feel.
she left to go to argo back in season three and that didn’t go well so the writers doing that again would just show they hadn’t learned from the last time. kara might miss her family but she would leave them. remember how eager she was to go to metropolis back in season two? also if those witches hadn’t shown up i’m not entirely sure she would have left argo at all.
“remember how eager she was to go to metropolis back in season two?” – real talk: I try to forget that ever happened because it’s clearly bullcrap to push more Superman content on “Supergirl” as if she can’t exist without him even though we had a whole season of her being super fine without him! ?
“also if those witches hadn’t shown up i’m not entirely sure she would have left argo at all.” – that’s a fair argument.
If you keep Kara in character then the only way really though to keep her on Argo is to bring Alex there because in character Kara will always return to her beloved sister.
Another issue with Kara being outed as Supergirl – if you knew Kara and know she’s Cousins with Clark Kent then doesn’t that just out Superman also or at least put a spotlight on him until he’s outted?
Again DUMB plot move given the extra moving pieces; if Kara was alone beyond a few friend or co-workers it might be one thing but given she has a family and fellow alien relatives it was just really irresponsible when you think about it.
it was revealed they were cousins in season one and i haven’t seen anything outing them as cousins post crisis. i’d be worried about james spilling more than anything. he accidentally spilled the beans right in front of winn and winn figured it out that way.
