SILY 694- The Third Mind

In October of 1883, a boy was born in a one-room cabin in southwest Virginia. His mother died when he was just nine years old. By thirteen, he was writing for his father’s newspaper. At twenty-five, his business went bankrupt and his wife divorced him. He remarried in 1910, launched various ventures, and kept grinding through failure after failure. Then, in 1925, he wrote a book that coined a phrase and introduced a concept that would quietly change everything.

S5E4 The Recordist

Although Chris didn’t join us this week (he had some behind-the-scenes undercover work to do with Anil), Darrell and repeat guest and frequent feedbacker ShelkyBean are here to share their thoughts on this episode of Fringe! Also sharing their thoughts on “The Recordist” are some phenomenal Fringe feedbackers like Rory, Anna (not Torv), Erin, and Geoff (xorce11)!

SILY 693- Make the Call

I’ve made it no secret on this podcast that I am a super fan of the TV show LOST. I love the mysteries, and the beautiful setting. I love the way the character stories interweave, I love the lore and history of the island. There are a lot of poignant moments and pieces of dialog that still echo in my mind today. But perhaps the most tragic line ever spoken in the series was, “Something tells me he never got around to making that call.”

SILY 692- Burying Your Best

I love that the audience of this podcast is filled with many of those who consider themselves Christians and many of those who do not. Regardless of where you fall within those two categories, today’s episode is for you. Today we’ll be looking at a story Jesus told in Matthew chapter 25, and the lessons found in that story are ones that all of us can benefit from.

S5E3 In Absentia

Join us this week as we, along with special guest Danielle (DillyDilly), discuss “In Absentia” – an episode that shows us somewhat of a dark turn for Etta as she captures and tortures a Loyalist. We see Olivia’s empathy and compassion shine through brighter than ever, and this is also the episode that kickstarts this season’s treasure (scavenger?) hunt.

Pulling Back the Curtain

What happens when the monsters we fear most turn out to be the ones staring back at us in the mirror? This month’s episodes use the lens of fear and pride to pull back the curtain and reveal the truth of human vulnerability. Whether it’s a man who fancies himself the judge of all evil or two people undone by their own panic, the Twilight Zone reminds us that our greatest threats often come from within

MOS 163 – The Last Words

MOS 163 – The Last Words

The Legacy of Supergirl for me will always be friends.  The friends that I would not have found if I hadn’t entered the superhero world. I began as many did with Arrow. Having no comic knowledge. I sought out a podcast to help understand this new world. The adventures of Oliver Queen were always a little dark for this butterfly, but I kept watching. Not as much for the show itself but for the Arrow Squad and the people it was drawing into its ranks.  Green Butterfly was technically born on the Central City Underground which celebrated The Flash. The brighter, more humorous tone suited my personality better, but I was still waiting for my hero. I had never heard of Supergirl.   I had seen a few superhero movies when I was younger, but my memories were hazy.  Almost everything I knew was coming from these new CW shows.  Then I met the Scarlet Cougar and Miss Ice. They both helped me understand the multiverse that was beginning to unfold in front of me.

Wintertime at Disneyland

Wintertime at Disneyland

Wintertime at Disneyland brings a different experience than other times of the year and with it, advantages and disadvantages.  If you’re looking for cooler weather, smaller crowds, shorter wait times, and the celebration of Lunar New Year, then visiting Disneyland in January or February is something you should consider.  However, you’ll also need to be aware that the park hours are much shorter, some rides are closed for yearly maintenance, and you’ll need to bring layers of clothing as the temperatures can vary quite a bit throughout the day.  Read More…
