Everything is connected. Well almost everything. Our team must split up to find answers. Each of them following their own thread that when woven together will shed some light on what is to come. It seems as if all things are leading back to Lex Luthor. Can the Man of Tomorrow wage war on Gods who have been causing chaos since the dawn of time? One thing seems certain. He is determined to try.
When the Sun Eater attempted to consume the center of our solar system the electricity went out. In the prison three inmates were trapped in an elevator. When claustrophobia consumes one of the inmates, Klaus, he turns violent despite the non nocere protocol. What is Lena missing here and how can she repair it? The human brain is a complex organ. When a threat is perceived then the brain evolves and goes into survival mode. The result is a prison riot.
Agent Dox is a twelfth level intellect so he knows Lex is hiding things from him. When he removed his inhibitors Brainy learned that to defeat Leviathan he would have to work with and trust Lex. As time goes on Brainy is beginning to have doubts. How much longer can Agent Dox play both sides of the game? Did the Big Brain have nefarious intentions when they gave Brainy the advice to work with Lex?
Alex and Kara go to meet Pete an expert in linguistics and iconography. They hope that his knowledge will help them determine where Leviathan will attack next. It becomes immediately apparent that whenever the symbol of Leviathan has surfaced throughout history catastrophic events have followed. Before they can uncover more information Kara is called away and Alex and Pete are chased out by an unknown gunman.
William has discovered that the person who recorded Margot Morrisonâs maniphesto video was using an image inducer. Maybe it is the mysterious employee who appears to have been working closely with Leviathan while also employed at Obsidian North. Kelly remains nervous about the virtual reality lenses. This is understandable considering Alex and hundreds of other innocent people were stuck in a fantasy world of their own design. Andrea insists that she has personally fixed the problem and the platform is safe. Nothing is going to stop the Worldwide Unity Festival that has been scheduled. If Kelly continues to push she may lose her job and more importantly her access to what is going on inside Obsidian.
Lena has pushed the limits of her friendship with Kara. After the events at the Fortress, Supergirl is seeing red every time her name is mentioned. The truth of the matter is that Kara is probably more hurt than angry. Why did her friend believe she was using Myriad to hurt her? Lena jumped to conclusions just when Kara was starting to have hope that their friendship could be repaired. Lex proves to Lena that he has not really changed. He is not the hero the world now perceives him to be. Perhaps she has chosen wrong but it is not to late to ally with the other side. Just because Lex is a monster doesnât mean she has to be.
Lex Luthor discards what he no longer deems useful. Let it go up in flames like the prison. Hopefully Lena makes the decision in time to switch teams before her brotherâs mayhem consumes her. What about Brainy? Will Lex dispose of him when he no longer serves a purpose? Nia tells Brainy that he canât play both sides forever.
Dreamer uncovers some secrets as she slumbers. Her vision leads both teams to Oregon. Supergirl and Rama Khan have a battle of Earth shattering consequences. Jâonn and M’gann minimize the damage from below using their terraform abilities. Agent Dox shuts out the super friends insisting that Rama Khan be taken to the DEO. The DEO is right where the villain wants to be. Supergirl tries to subdue Rama Khan but the tables are turned. Rama Khan draws all the kryptonite to himself incapacitating the Girl of Steel.
The DEO is reduced to a pile of rubble and Rama Khan has escaped. Leviathan now has kryptonite and a stolen weapon from the Fortress of Solitude. Andrea is adamant the Worldwide Unity Festival will take place. The good news is everyone seems safe for now. Lena wants to help defeat Lex and Leviathan. Will Lexâs invitation to the ship be all that he hopes for? What will happen to the citizens of Earth as they converge in a virtual space? Who kidnapped William? One thing I know for sure is that your eye in the sky Green Butterfly will tell you the latest as this story flies to its conclusion.

Some blog post comments…
“Everything is connected.” – is it? This season feels pretty “Ah, who cares; just write something this season is fake out anyways. Viva Crisis!”.
“Our team must split up to find answers.” – I believe you meant to type ‘Our team is being extremely handicapped in the name of manufactured drama and to give Lex tons of spotlight because the writers are in love with him this season’, but I guess your way is shorter. Ha.
“Will Alex Be a Masked Superhero in Season 6?” – I have so much fear that she will, but God I hope she won’t be because that goes against everything the character of Alex represents! She is not one to need nor want to hide her identity so to suit her up would be some of the laziest writing ever to come out of this series; that is right up there with trying to make Lena evil because she’s a Luthor! Again this episode makes me worry so much about what’s to come and I just hope some of the good that comes from this quarantine is the writers have time to see how poor a decision suited up Alex is and don’t write it next season; just let her be the Director and have some of her choices conflict with Kara’s approach to things because that’s organic drama and we still need a season of Director Danvers as her total Director of the DEO time is maybe a hour of clocked in time.
“Supergirl realizes that in order to stop Lex and Leviathan she must work with the one person she never thought sheâd trust again â Lena.” – two middle fingers to this part of the summary for the finale because this is such an insult to both Kara and Lena. Man I miss season season two and season three even because even then she still defended her some…and those season have Mon in them so you know they messed this season up pretty bad to make me want to risk seeing him just to see decent written plots again.
On to the podcast…
I say let Leviathan go; they’re too big in my opinion to feel like a plot that fits this show. You’re talking about a group that’s supposedly been around since the dawn of time at least, how are Kara and we suppose to relate to that? Then you have Necroda who’s like their Enchantress but they don’t use her…Leviathan as shown in season five is just a bust I’m fine not waste any more time on them; let them be a distant memory like the rest of this season I say!
Yes, send feedback Scott!
9 and 10 out of 10?! Yeah y’all are DEFINITELY going to have to explain that one to me! đ
Lena’s stuff was the only good thing about this episode! Still even it couldn’t make this a watchable episode to me.
You’re talking about editing story reveals John, Leviathan’s big plan should have been revealed pre-Crisis and then that gives us all of post Crisis to really see them in action but because we’re almost done with the season, virus or not, and we still haven’t learned their plan they’re just a waded storyline in my opinion and that’s not a good thing. Again there’s so much wrong with the Leviathan storyline I say let it go. Maybe they have Gemma return in like season 8 working with another villain all together because I just can’t get into Rama Khan but for now I vote moving on from them.
If anyone had anything belonging to Leviathan it’s Clark because Kara doesn’t take things to the Fortress that we’ve ever been shown; given Clark is only what maybe 34 then it has to be he took it from someone who took it from somewhere and so forth so forth before it gets back to belonging to a Leviathan member.
Alex can certainly lead this series…she just doesn’t need to do it in a suit!
Kara can be human without biologically being human; we all share the same core goals and thus that’s what makes her and others relatable…honestly at this point as Daryl said she’s almost spent as much time on Earth as she had Krypton so she’s just as human as anyone I’d say. We know what you meant Justina. đ
You did well with the read Justina. đ Rate things how you see them, I certainly did ha; the important thing is we can respect each other’s opinion and not throw insults like you see in other fandoms just because one person disagrees about a plot. đ There’s a difference in being passionate and being a jerk – having passion to defend your position on a subject is ok, telling someone they aren’t a real fan because you disagree with their take is not ok! This is one of the many reasons I love our MOS group, we know how to disagree with respect.
Lena’s stuff was the only bright content of this episode John, and because of Katie’s acting it’s been the only decent stuff of the season, so I definitely don’t have an issue with her content beyond it being manufactured because again this whole “battle for Lena’s soul” plot was just a joke from the start as Lena is not evil to even make that plot even possibly logical; everything else is what I have an issue with this year because nothing feels honest to characters and if a plot does they shift gears so fast how can you invest in it?! So yeah no issues with Lena really but even with her awesomeness it’s not enough to make the season something I’d want watch again. Full disclosure: I’ll probably buy S5 on DVD to complete the series set when the series wraps years from now but it will be the last season I buy and it will be on sale because yeah worse of the series so far. đ
Monty, the Kryptonite on “Batwoman” is TOTALLY just a set up for crossovers as a bullet from Deadshot would fix Alice’s Bat problem just as easily and arguably be less expensive; the creators said during Crisis Kara and Kate were going to be the new Barry and Oliver friendship moving forward so this is a set up for that because again Kryptonite to defeat Batwoman is so left field as that is not her prop, again Deadshot would be more Batesque than Kryptonite but we got to get those crossovers going given “Supergirl” only has four more years before it ends and the Alex spin off begins. Note: that last part is my ideal scheduling for things rather than official information yet. đ
“I want to mention, donât show me Alex with her Martian Police 38 Special and then not show her using it when she is being shot at by a Leviathan numb-chuck using a mere gun.” – this is a fair complaint. Lord knows I am THRILLED she didn’t pop out a shield but I was surprised she didn’t gun up to shoot back or at least make some kind of smoke screen to cover their escape. This is just another example of hyped plots that don’t pay off this season.
While William’s exit would help the series Monty it sadly wouldn’t have saved the season at this point; season five is just the worst. đ “Azie Tesfai – reading up her lines as if she did not know what her motivation was at any given moment.” – to be fair she probably didn’t; this is someone after all who was given the background notes of Kelly as a shrink and yet what has she done all season – code. I’m not saying Kelly CAN’T work with the coders for the lenses because you would want to know after all his feedback effects your user but she shouldn’t be the one operating the system when clients are locked in at the office; she can mention the fail safe not working as that’s important for mental health sides but to try and fix it herself no. Azie is trying they’re just changing Kelly each week to the point how is she suppose to know what’s consistent for the character and that makes them hard to really play. I have to say I’m surprised you only gave this episode 0s Monty as I personally am still trying to figure out the appropriate negative number to give it because if ever an episode deserved negative numbers it is this one!
The finale written by Derek Simon? Yeah Monty is going to probably hate that. đ
I am surprised about Aaron’s comments vehemence, though not the content.
I kept mine short this week in the feedback as I was pressed for time.
“The Boys” is a famous comic book series written by Garth Ennis.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boys_(comics)
Brought to television as part of a package seen on Amazon; it is a brutal treatment of an ersatz corporate Vought sponsored justice league (The Seven) who have as members:
https://superheroes.fandom.com/wiki/The_Seven
Homelander: Stand in for Superman
The Deep: Stand in for Aquaman
A Train: stand in for The Flash
Maeve: Stand in for Wonder Woman
Translucent; murdered by one of “The Boys” (specifically “Hughie”) as a part of a revenge plot, stand in for possibly a Green Lantern, though he resembles more a Marvel hero… the X Man Colossus with his skin altering powers.
Black Noir: Stand in for Batman
Jack from Jupiter (replaced) by Starlight: stand in for the Martian Manhunter
And Starlight, SHE is definitely a stand in for Black Canary and a Green Lantern.
========================================
I mention these losers and their series, because as bad as they are, as a superhero series, by writing and direction, it is an order of magnitude funnier and more coherent than Season 5 of Supergirl.
I mean the closest thing to this social satire for writing or direction that one is going to get; is possibly Jessica Jones, the best superhero series, I’ve ever seen that features a female superhero lead.
============================================
But enough about “The Boys” who as title characters are free lance mercenaries out to kill The Seven, for some rather good reasons.
============================================
When it comes to what else I want to write about “The Missing Link” it is hard to even approach Aaron’s detailed treatment. I do jhave a few points.
1. Katie McGrath did lug this episode across the finish line with her point with Jon Cryer and counterpoint with Melissa Benoist, obviously the top three actors this episode in my opinion.
2. Why bring in Sharon Leal? Speculation; the Martian storyline is a fan fave and it keeps that line cooking with a M’Gann/J’onn romance. Never forget that J’onn is Green and M’Gann is White, which is Martian subtext for a story lesson about how two different groups eventually get together and sort themselves out. The Martian civil war was based on racism after all.
3. I think that too much is expected from a continuation of the Leviathan storyline. Like Obsidian, SCRAP it, and clean sheet season 6.
4. I want a GREEN LANTERN! I have a nominee. Alex!
5. Jettison for the good of the show;
-Azie Tasfai
-Julie Gonzalo
-Staz Nair
-Jesse Rath
Actors and characters serve no story or audience interest function. Save $.
6. I wholeheartedly support a new writers room. Also support streamlining the editors (especially Derek Simon who would not know what red penciling or green pages are if you wrote the definitions on the toilet paper he writes his scripts upon.
7. We can guest in Jon Cryer from time to time, but I want more Mama Luthor and less Lex.
8. With Claymore, Reign and the Three Witches as well as Indigo, Silver Banshee and that klepto thief from Season 2, there is comedy gold to be mined in Season 6.
9. Speaking of Season 6 how about the X-Men er⌠Doom Patrol as guest star heroes?
10. Finally, for once try for WONK.
Anyway as we head into the finale, just say NO to Staz Nair and Derek Simon.
Monty.
Green Lanterns still suit up Monty so I’m going to have to say no to Alex as one; also they basically gave Diggle that position in the Arrowverse in their series final so Green Lantern is taken.
I second, third, fourth – whatever it takes to not talk about William ever again so yes to ditching him. Andrea was like Reign 2.0 or their version of Enchantress but they never did anything with her post Crisis and given we have actual Reign who could show up still it is sad but I can see Andrea being a one off as well; it’s a shame because I enjoyed Julie when she was in scenes. The same can be said for Azie, she herself is doing fine but the character is a miss; because they don’t play to the shrink side of Kelly she is left in my opinion feeling like a replaceable character of the week. Anyone could make out with Alex it doesn’t have to be Kelly so if you want me to invest in Kelly/Alex you need me to invest in Kelly and I can’t do that when she’s so one note and the interesting aspect to her isn’t played to. I like Brainy so I’m for him staying around another season but I will admit sometimes Jesse can seem over the top with emotional moments.
I’ll say it again: Caitlin Parrish as showrunner for a season – it can’t hurt to try!
You know who else is good for comedy? Livewire. She’s not dead you guys she’s just resting in the future and causing chaos for future Kara if Kara is still alive then!
I don’t know if they could get THE Doom Patrol Monty, but a stand in for them as a guest – maybe.

âGreen Lanterns still suit up Monty so Iâm going to have to say no to Alex as one; also they basically gave Diggle that position in the Arrowverse in their series final so Green Lantern is taken.â
First of all; Diggle as a Green Lantern is fan service and is a possible John Stewart series lead-in. (HBO?)
Second of all, Let us review Lanterns in general.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Lantern
Those guys from Oa, the Guardians, sure can pick some losers.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Scott
Crazed magic ring user.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hal_Jordan
They do not nickname Hal Jordan, âCrazy Halâ because of his stable personality or good decision making.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Gardner_(comics)
Obnoxious, ill-tempered and the only GL who turned Red Lantern BY CHOICE. Real mental stability there. Also when New 52 douche Superman abandoned his cousin when she Red Lanterned out; he is the only one crazy enough to mentor Red Daughter. Yikes. He actually does a 4.0 job as Soule writes him.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Stewart_(comics)
If Hal is âCrazyâ and Guy is âHotheadâ; guess who earned the nickname âPlanetkillerâ?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyle_Rayner
Nickname is âGanthetâs lapdogâ and âRestorerâ He is the âsaneâ Lantern. Not saying much.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Baz
Nickname is âPC Lanternâ. He has mysteriously disappeared from continuity. Character dead ender.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Ring_(DC_Comics)
and
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jessica_Cruz
My favorite Lantern, She started as out as a dysfunctional neurotic suffering from claustrophobia, misplaced guilt complex, and agoraphobia. Afraid of elevators and crowds. Sheâs been losing ground in the sanity department. Darkseid killed her in Justice League Odyssey, but sheâs better now. She is happily and totally insane. How many GLs are a living Omega Beam and how many of them are functionally Odysseus trying to get back to Earth and trying to kill New Gods while doing it?
She also likes a certain Red Lantern cat as a buddy, now. Nuttier than a Bat-villain, she is.
Then there is the bipolar manic depressiveâŚ
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinestro
Good Old Sinestro. Psycho to the Corps and that is pun intended.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jade_(comics)
The only Lantern who started sane and stayed that way.
Now my choice for the model of Alex, Green Lantern, is of course based on the characteristics of Alex seen so far as the writers have defined her:
Alex loves to drink. Closet alcoholic ever since I noticed her penchant for cheap California wines in Season 1.
-She is a Daddyâs Girl.
-She is a runaway. First seen when Jâonn finds her and recruits her back in Season 1, and more recently when she fled to VR Crazyville after Jerimiah frogs out, if Alex does not have a father authority figure to steer her rudder, she panics and flees reality.
-Add OCD and a penchant to BAT-GERBIL and you have a read- made Jessica Cruz type Green Lantern.
Now why do I want to put Alex in a suit?
a. Gives her something to do on Team Supergirl.
b. Teamups with Arrow.
c. Gives Kelly a permanent guidance counselor role as She becomes permanent therapist to Alex.
d. Gives Acrata something to do, since Hawkman is out and if we Shadowthief Andrea Rojas as an evil Laura Croft, tomb-robberâŚ
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_Thief
Alex will be busy saving Kara from alien hating Acrata.
âI second, third, fourth â whatever it takes to not talk about William ever again so yes to ditching him. Andrea was like Reign 2.0 or their version of Enchantress but they never did anything with her post Crisis and given we have actual Reign who could show up still it is sad but I can see Andrea being a one off as well; itâs a shame because I enjoyed Julie when she was in scenes. The same can be said for Azie, she herself is doing fine but the character is a miss; because they donât play to the shrink side of Kelly she is left in my opinion feeling like a replaceable character of the week. Anyone could make out with Alex it doesnât have to be Kelly so if you want me to invest in Kelly/Alex you need me to invest in Kelly and I canât do that when sheâs so one note and the interesting aspect to her isnât played to. I like Brainy so Iâm for him staying around another season but I will admit sometimes Jesse can seem over the top with emotional moments.â
As I wrote above, I can manage Azie Tasfai by putting Alex into the Corps and making her a âspace copâ which in effect produces a GL Oscar to Kellyâs Felix as they odd couple.
Julie Gonzalo is a harder save. Got to villainize her and make her a Rose/Thorn for Team Supergoyl.
âIâll say it again: Caitlin Parrish as showrunner for a season â it canât hurt to try!â
As long as Derek Simon is fired I would even be willing to see Ali Adler try or (Yetch!) Andrew Kreisberg. If you know about how Eddie Berganza polluted the Supershop at DC with his MCP antics and how much I detest that kind of thing, then you might fathom how far I am prepared to go to ditch Derek. For rather much the same reason. Incompetence and a certain âmindsetâ.
âYou know who else is good for comedy? Livewire. Sheâs not dead you guys sheâs just resting in the future and causing chaos for future Kara if Kara is still alive then!â
Needs of the story, Aaaron. If Leslie has been limboed as a presence in a computer somewhere, it is easy to story her in.
âI donât know if they could get THE Doom Patrol Monty, but a stand in for them as a guest â maybe.â
Niles Caulder, Robotman, Elasti-girl, and Negative Man are made for a story with Alex Green Lantern as they all take a trip to Danny the Dairy Queen ⢠and order up some I Scream Clones â˘.
Hello Maid of Steal; as in Derek Simon plagiaried this episode from a better writer, Monty, here.
Back in Season 3, I saw this episode and noticed, now, that beat for beat, and outline for outline that it reminds me of âImmortal Kombatâ. It was entitled âBattles Lost and Wonâ. It featured three chess-piece villains (Reign, Purity and Pestilence) ), a witch coven, (Selena, Vita, Ayala and Feira ) some Macbethian clumsiness, a wasted actress as lead villain chess piece (Odette Annabelle) and a STUPID unsatisfying ending to a rather good season in which âour heroesâ were plagued by soap opera love interests that went nowhere, a fake out Kara love squeeze endangerment, and the usual kind of super-idiot ballery that required people to turn their brains off to accept the storyline.
The episode centered on stopping Reign from detonating the Earthâs core and featured Martians as Earth preservers while Kara did her hope speech thing and Lena aided in the Reign away cure thingy. And Mon-El got stomped and almost makes a life-love sacrifice.
It was written by Jessica Quellar and Rob Royvne and directed by Jesse Warn. Was a good episode despite its flaws in the hands of reasonable people.
Then we get âImmortal Kombatâ
a. Evil witch; Gemma⌠check.
b. Chess piece head villain: (Not a good one like Reign, but a cardboard cutout with no backstory or motivation.) Rham Khant-shamalangadingdongâŚ. Check.
c. Heroic love-life death sacrifice; not Kara this time and not Mon-el Railroad; this has been farmed out to Dreamer as the love object and Braindead (with female version Braindead partner no less.) as the substitute.
d. Lena remains Lena, on the wrong path but straightens vector at the last minute as usual and complete with âIâm sorriesâ out the WAZOO when it STILL is all Karaâs fault for not keeping A WATCH ON A LUTHOR which should El rule #1 in any Super TO DO LIST.
e. Martians battle elementals and keep the Earth from being deformed? Myrnn and Jâonn last time. This time it is MâGann for fan service reasons, but the formula fits.
f. Put Alex in a suit. They did last time in that season 3. They have to do it this season, so this episode they blue Smurf her and make her a BAT GERBIL WITH GUN.
g. Misdirect subplot with Eve Teschmacher (Lena last time, Lex this time, but still a Luthor Patsy Kleinmadschen.) Yup.
h. A Luthor hiding things. Triple down with it using Egghead AND Braindead and Lena in all the same essential story gag and assert via plothole bachhoe from the whole previous season, that a Luthor or all of them is at fault and ignore that Luthor behind the Curtain doing things for stupid reasons, Kryptonian. Ah yup.
There are some differences.
1. Might want to look to King Lear for Lenaâs and Alexâs parallel Cordelia storylines. What? You did not recognize that poofery in the so-called writing? Shame on YOU! Kara is King Lear.
2. Missed gags that did NOT PAY OFF. There was the âMan of Stupidâ Zack Snyder terraforming, make humans slaves and reform the earth in our image alien invader gag which was Season 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 villain motivation and objectives. This execution was muddy and unclear as in season 4 AWFUL.
3. Waste a villain, which in season 3 was Purity and in this season 5, was ACRATA as a rote predict functional heel turn to goody two shoes example of how not to write it.
4. Derek Simon wrote the beginning and the end stories of this bollixed season, so he had a real save his job incentive to TRY to make all his bull manure setups, including Staz Nair as Wi8lliam Day pay off, so we get the obligatory Eve Teschmacher shoots Blockhead scene. Of course Eve has to come back, but Blockhead will be back, too. Derek Simon invested in him. If he is written out, can Derek, his creator, be far behind?
5. Another gag that did not pay off, because it is NEVER explained are those Kryptonite powered RINGS from the Fortress OF Stupitude (renamed in honor of how many times El Protective Services a division of Queen Security Industries) has failed to keep out everyone and his sidekick from setting loose Suneaters (Twice) or stealing 30th Century tech. Yes, somehow the idiot writers, and I mean Derek Simon specifically, forgot about the Legion of Super Heroes RINGS invoked.)
6. Speaking of Stupidity Writing and super-idiot balls carried, Braindead HAS a Legion Ring, complete with a radiation proof FORCEFIELD. Missed that one? Nah⌠Needs of the heroic sacrifice love-life sacrifice story bit and to pay off Braindead works with Lex and Lex outsmarts him gags.
If you want to blame anybody for Season 5 being the worst Supergirl season to date, and why it is suddenly and mercifully wrapped up early, then it is Derek Simon who goofed it all up and COVID that cut his manure fest 3 episodes short.
===========================================
Never leave an UTTER DISASTER without trying to find something positive to write:
i. David Harewood made the direction of a still miserable script semi-coherent. Camera shots were fair to good. Not bad for his second attempt. Just wasted because of the trash story he was asked to direct.
j. Emilio Ortega Aldrich and Nicki Holcomb took Derek Simonâs toilet paper garbage, proofread it, edited it clear into the pink pages (About 6 rewrites!) and produced a semi-shootable screenplay without too many pronoun misusages or sentence run-ons or polysyllabic unpronouncables that are Derekâs illiterate trademarks when he scribbles his brown and green stained butt wiper scripts.
k. Stunting was repetitive and after the third wire pull into the wall, still well executed, though by then BORING and predictable.
l. At some point you have to give up on Jâonn imitates Kara shapeshifter jokes. Not funny anymore.
Rate it for episode; -20,-20,-20 out of 5/5/5. A lot of wasted good acting by Meaghan Rath, Katie McGrath, Andrea Brooks and Melissa Benoist.
No return actors!
– Staz Nair. Let his character DIE off camera because Supergoyl lasered too close to his non-existent heart. Then the AMA can SUE Supergoyl for practicing medicine without a license!
– Jesse Rath. No Brainiac should be written or be acted that stupidly, ever.
– Cara Bono. All cleavage all the time does not hide her poor acting chops.
– Mitch Pileggi … Rama Khanât Shamalangadingdong⌠cannot even do the Larry Fine to Cara Bonoâs Moe Howard.
– Julie Gonzalo; though it is not her fault that she has no story and is WASTED as Miss Plot Assassination device.

Going to beat the drum for a new series… Stargirl. Great start to one of my favorite Geoff Johns creations. Stargirl.
Blue Valley, Nebraska sure looks a LOT like Duluth Georgia, USA. I am not going to spoil the sheer joy of discovery that viewers should experience in the setup episode. This is not a Berlanti-verse grim-dark DC series with the humor salted in for the generation âWhy mes?â to make it less sour going down. Nor is it message heavy like the Ali Adlered disasteramas which are part of the Berlanti vision.
This is Geoff Johnsâ vision and tone for what he wants in his corner of the DCTV universe.
If it feels like late 1990s or early 2000s in DC character tone, that is when Geoff Johns immortalized his older sister as the inspiration of Courtney Whitmore
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Courtney_Whitmore.
The tone of the show is young, hopeful and full of inheritance. I am not going to spoil the experience because I want viewers to feel the same joy I did when I watched it.
I will write that the âPilotâ is mostly faithful to the Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E graphic novel that Johns wrote in 1999-2000.
Let me also just suggest that any show which can turn the Cosmic Rod into comedy relief and a character in its own writer right is a show that must be watched for the pure ecstasy of DC myth written by its chief architect for the last 20 years.
And for those of you, hoping for a Justice Society of America? It is definitely on its way, but it will be NOTHING like what the golden age society was like. This will be Johnsâ creation. So expect a lot of familiar names with new twistsâŚ
I hope for a new generation of Doctor Mid-Nite, Hourman, Wildcat, and possibly a certain Lantern.
Yes; I mean Jade.
Monty
“Stargirl” was ok as a premier; I thought they did great setting up Courtney and Pat and where the season might go but it the rest was just ok. It’s fair though, it’s just the first episode and they don’t want to spoil everything. I will probably watch also -!: not just because it’s one of the only new shows coming up in this weird TV season.
I will say one thing kind of spoilers, Courtney’s pep about being a hero definitely made me miss Kara’a early season attitudes; I blame this bull crap drama with Lena and the fact they tend to write Kara like Clark over these last three seasons – Courtney feels more like S1 Kara and that was a joy! I know Kara has more experience so her approach has changed but still I miss less drama Kara and seeing happy Courtney really drove that home. Watching this post season five especially just reminded me of “Supergirl” season one and how much I miss the early years of our show.
Speaking of CW news, https://tvline.com/2020/05/20/ruby-rose-batwoman-season-2-departure-scoop/ ; I get not being into the TV schedule and the injury she got I’m sure didn’t help but it is a bummer to see her go as she did really well in the part I thought! We’ll have to wait and see if the next Batwoman has the same chemistry to make future Kara-Kate scenes as fun to watch. I wonder if they’ll go with their original second choice for the part or just cast a new all together?

Based on what I saw this season I could place the injury around episode 2 of Batwoman?
How the Hello do you allow this to happen to your star? Once before I commented that film-making is a DANGEROUS industrial process and if you don’t practice set safety, people will get hurt.

Idiots. Seven hours, as Mez. Rose testifies on the Jimmy Fallon show on a single stunt is ridiculous and UNSAFE. The stunt coordinator should have been fired and BLACKBALLED for it. Dropping a light on a person on a set is absolutely unforgivable.
Somebody and not just one person (Best Boy; electrician’s first assistant and the lighting director and the GAFFER) should have gone to jail on that one.
“Gives her something to do on Team Supergirl.” – by her relation Alex is always on team Supergirl; in practicality, she could have something every week if they just wrote to her but sadly they haven’t this season. Even if she just stayed DEO there’s a lot to explore there the writers still haven’t touched so there’s things for Alex to do that don’t include a suit.
Kelly needs to shrink them all, it’s unfair to put her with Alex solely even if she will most likely take the longest to help because she goes guard up when asked to explore her feelings.
I’m a big fan of season one so I wouldn’t mind Ali ban at all!

Right now “Blue Smurf” is running around with a Martian shape-change gun and is being used like a Bat-Gerbil and a social message crutch more than Kara’s sister and partner in the family her0 business. The same thing that happened to Mechad Brooks, with gimmick after gimmick tried out in the hopes that something will stick, is happening to Chyler Leigh and has happened for three seasons now. She gamely sticks it out, but after a while of a character being given schtick instead of story, the damage to morale and performance has got to tell on the actor and it shows.
GIVE ALEX A STORY ROLE. Crazed Green Lantern human half-sister to a Kryptonian will work. Trust me. Alex will make a great Jessica Cruz expy. Swing for the fence and try it, writers! Goofballs blew up the DEO for a story gag, so why not go all the way and saw that limb off? Go BIG!

Okay. Crazed Lantern Alex, Klaustophobic Kara (Remember when she felt closed in when she lost her powers after “Red Faced? Kara had problems with elevators”, Tomb Raider klepto-Acrata. Guilt-tripped brother-and mommy issues mad scientist Lena is a half season of “Becker” all by her self.
“Iâm a big fan of season one so I wouldnât mind Ali ban at all!”
I thought I was the only one, extant, who thought Ali Adler was an overrated show producer and runner?
I actually meant I wouldn’t mind Ali back Monty.
Apparently my phone was on your side because it said “ban” but I personally meant I wouldn’t mind having Ali BACK. đ
They can bring back the whole entire season one team if they can get them! Heck I’ll even take just the Sam Arias season 3 writers and the season 2 writers who did Lena and Alex’s coming out story if we can get just them – we need something to make season six better because yeah I don’t know if I can do another season like season five.
