SILY 716- The Marketing Myth

We all have a story we tell ourselves about who we are and what we’re capable of. Or what we’re NOT capable of.  Mine started with a bad coworker and calcified over a decade into something I never questioned again, until I was faced with a situation that forced me to look at myself with fresh eyes. Today’s episode is about the slow, quiet way we talk ourselves out of skills we’re fully capable of learning, and what it finally took to prove myself wrong. If you’ve ever believed “that’s just not me,” you’re going to want to hear how this one turned out.

TSTP 96- A Haunting in Hawkins

A petty robbery at the Palace Arcade, a missing town delinquent and a field of eerie bioluminescent flowers blooming in the dead of winter. Something is definitely haunting Hawkins again. Join us as we kick off coverage of Season 2 of Tales From ’85, diving into the premiere episode set during a Valentine’s Day-themed February 1985.

SILY 715- Climbing the Hill

It’s been said that a manual transmission is basically an anti-theft device these days. And it turns out, learning to drive one taught me way more than just how to work a clutch. It took three different people, a driveway full of stalled engines, and one very specific hill in my hometown to teach me something about frustration, trust, and what it really looks like to help someone else find their way. Stick around, because today’s lesson might just change how you show up for the people you love.

SILY 714- Church of the Hygienist

It’s funny how your mind wanders when you’re sitting in a reclined position with sharp instruments and hands cramped in your mouth, loading your taste buds with the flavor of latex. I was recently at the dentist for my regular cleaning, and that experience helped me process today’s story. What I have for you is most certainly more enjoyable than a trip to the dentist.

S5E14 An Enemy of Fate

This is the end, cortexifriends! This has been such a rewarding journey for us, and we have heard so many of your beautiful stories over the years sharing with us your appreciation not only for Fringe as a series but also for us as a podcast, and it’s why we’ve done it. We kick things off with a really insightful conversation with Thomas Cadrot

Mistaken Identity

How securely anchored is your sense of self when the people who know you best suddenly refuse to recognize you? The Twilight Zone asks that question twice over, following two very different men who wake up unsure which version of their life is real. Both episodes probe the fragile line between identity and illusion, exploring how quickly the world you built for yourself can unravel.

213- Resolutions and Goals

213- Resolutions and Goals

Now I’m sure you know, just like the majority of people out there know, that most New Year resolutions are not followed through with. In fact, the number I found is 92% of resolutions are discarded within 30 days of making them. And this isn’t just for New Years resolutions either. Almost every time you make a resolution without an end goal in mind you will probably fail. So what’s the point of making resolutions? The point is, resolutions are needed in order to reach an end goal.

212- Hitting the Target, Yet Missing the Mark

212- Hitting the Target, Yet Missing the Mark

Today I’ll be wrapping up my series on goals. I hope this series of episodes has been helpful for you and has inspired you to dream big for 2015. As I bring this series to a close, I’d like to share a different perspective on goals. I want to share a story that taught me that it is possible to achieve goals and still fail. How is that possible? It’s possible when we miss the point and focus too much on goals and not enough on the other things around us.

In the summer of 2002 I was offered a position within the bookstore chain I was working at that I had wanted for a long time. It was a job that dreamed about getting soon after I began working with the company 8 years prior. The position was the position of buyer. Read More…

211- My 2015 Goals

211- My 2015 Goals

Today is the day! For the last two weeks I’ve been talking about setting goals, and today I’m going to share my 2015 goals with you. This has been a really difficult process for me this year. In fact, I don’t recall a year that I’ve had this much difficulty setting goals. The issue wasn’t coming up with goals, the issue was deciding which of the things I want to achieve were going to make it to the top of my priority list.

I spoke last week about setting milestone moments where you can asses the progress you’ve made on reaching your goals. Today, as I share each of my goals, I’ll be sharing another critical component of goal achievement. For most of us, maybe even all of us, it’s not enough to simply set a goal and then go achieve it. Instead, we must also set up the guidelines which we will bring us to achieving the goal. Read More…
