Today is Halloween and we’re kicking off a new Triplecast series on John Carpenter’s horror films! In this series we’re taking a look at Halloween, The Thing, and Christine. Joined by Cory in Australia, in episode 25 we start with the 1978 horror classic, Halloween. We talk about this simple, yet thrilling story of suburban town haunted by an escaped psychotic killer and how Halloween shaped the landscape of the horror film genre. We discuss the use of various camera shots and angles and how they helped add to the suspense, and how the crew worked within their small budget to scare the audience. We also share out thoughts on the Michael Myers character, the mask, weapons, music, casting, and visual effects used in the film.
