SILY 710- Fresh Baked

One year ago, almost to the day, I sat down and wrote about cookies. Except I wasn’t really writing about cookies. I was writing about my daughter. The premise was simple. We all mature at different rates on different things, and just like a good batch of cookies, sometimes we need more time in the oven to become what we’re meant to be. You don’t throw the batch out. You give it more heat and more time. Well, the oven timer has gone off. It’s time to see how the cookies turned out.

S5E12 The Boy Must Live

We are truly nearing the end, cortexifans – so much so that you could make the argument that, even though this isn’t the penultimate episode of our podcast, we are covering the penultimate episode of the series given the fact that 5.12 and 5.13 aired together the same night as a two-hour finale. We talk about this incredibly important episode and all of the answers that it finally gives us alongside Fringe Connections creator Michael London.

SILY 709- Heart of the Matter

Wise. Warrior. Dancer. Husband. Father. Musician. Murderer. Songwriter. Leader. Adulterer. Victim. Full of mercy. Crazy. Cunning. Liar. Full of pride. Humble. All of these words describe the same person. It’s a person I strive to be like, and it’s the subject of today’s story. Intrigued?

Circular History

Is the past truly fixed, or is it merely waiting for someone brave enough to rewrite it? The Twilight Zone loved toying with the idea that time itself might bend for the right person, and few episodes explore that temptation as directly as “The Last Flight” and “No Time Like the Past.”

SILY 708- Surviving Disneyland

Walking out of Star Wars Land after the fireworks, I genuinely wondered if this was the moment we called it a night. We’d been in the parks for over twelve hours. My legs felt like they belonged to someone else and wished I’d find one of those hover chairs from Wall-E to melt into. I was ready to wave a white flag made out of a churro wrapper.

S5E11 Anomaly XB-6783746

While Chris sadly couldn’t make it to this episode, Darrell is joined by special guest Adam to discuss this emotionally heavy episode of Fringe as it winds down to its climax. With only three episodes remaining, Captain Windmark narrows in on the team after discovering that Michael is part of their plan to defeat the Observers, and the result is nothing short of, well… mindblowing.

S3E9 Marionette

S3E9 Marionette

Joined by special guest co-host Pavla, we are so excited to be talking about this beautiful, Gothic, Frankenstein-esque horror story of a Fringe episode this week! We discuss some of the episode’s best scenes such as Olivia’s talk with Broyles when she returns to work, her breakdown in her apartment, and her incredible monologue at the end that should have (but, of course, didn’t) earn Anna at least an Emmy nomination if not a win.

As You Wish

As You Wish

“Mr. Bevis” and “The Man in the Bottle” from “The Twilight Zone” each explore the pitfalls of wish fulfillment. “Mr. Bevis” features James B.W. Bevis, whose guardian angel temporarily improves his unlucky life. Bevis soon realizes these changes erase his unique personality, and he chooses to return to his former way of life and his authentic self. In “The Man in the Bottle,” Arthur Castle, an antique shop owner, uses a genie’s four wishes to solve problems, but each brings dire consequences

604- Monday Mailbag

604- Monday Mailbag

One of my leading desires for SILY is that these stories would bring in sincere questions from listeners that would in turn bring about a deeper understanding of Christianity, the Bible, and what it means to live in this culture as a Christian both for myself and all of those listening. Put another way, I hoped questions would come in that would lead to spiritual growth for both myself and other listeners. Today’s Monday Mailbag episode will be entirely devoted to a question that I received via YouTube from Wishyouwerehere435.

603- Planting Your Tree

603- Planting Your Tree

When I started podcasting in 2008, I never once thought that I might one day inspire someone else to become a podcaster. In times like these, I like to play the what if game. The quick version of it goes something like this: What if I’d never started my podcast about Fringe? What if JJ Abrams had never created Fringe? What if Cliff had never started his podcast about the TV show LOST. What if JJ had never been brought in to fix the original script for LOST?

S3E8 Entrada

S3E8 Entrada

The riveting season 2 finale’s cliffhanger finally comes to a dramatic climax in “Entrada” when Peter learns the truth about who “Olivia” really is and his actual Olivia finally finds a way home. Joined by guest Michael Hoover (whose interpretation of the show’s theme you will hear!), we discuss all of our favorite moments from this incredible episode (such as Walter’s “vagenda” line and the incredible dialogue between characters like Olivia and Colonel Broyles) and the heroic sacrifice that Colonel Broyles makes in the Redverse.
