“A Bitter Pill To Swallow” is all about people accepting hard facts that they are not ready to come to grips with. Gotham provides bitter pills to Jim Gordon, Penguin, Tabitha, Bruce and more. They are forced to by circumstances and people to make big changes. This episode of Gotham was dark and violent but the story and the actors shone like beacons.
The past few weeks, we have discussed on the podcast, how the story has focused on one of our main characters. We’ve spoken about how the writers have challenged the actors and actresses to new levels and how they have stepped up because of it. This season is like a collected graphic novel with the storyline “Rise of the Villains.” But but in this episode we saw multiple characters shine. In my (Geoff) mind, this season could be called “Rise of Gotham.” Read more…

There is a new leader in the GCPD. Captain Barnes was a Marine and he is taking no slack. He fires the most corrupt of the group and sends a message to the rest. No quarter for corruption or slacking. He makes Jim his number 2 and the two recruit a fresh crop of academy recruits. They form Barnes’ Unit Alpha of the GCPD Strike Force. Theo is still the chess master and has made Penguin his pawn. He has plans for Bruce as well. It looks like Gotham will need a Strike Force to combat the coming storm.
