This week’s episode title was “By Fire.”  Our heroes underwent a trial by fire and our villains/anti-heroes underwent a baptism by fire.  Fire forged Firefly, Catwoman, Penguin & Riddler’s character but not in good ways.  Bruce is being trained by Alfred but it is clear he is not ready yet and Theo seems poised to strike.  Jim is burning with rage over Garrett’s death.  Who will be left when the fire is gone?

Selena and Bridgit are hiding out at Selena’s.  Selena wants to get Bridgit out of town but they have no cash.  Cat & Firefly hold up an underground slavery auction.  Cat is all about getting the money and getting out but Firefly wants to help free the women.  Money in hand Selena is ready to send Bridgit.  But the Pike brothers swoop in and kidnap Bridgit.  Selina is ready to rescue her when Jim comes in.  She takes his word and sends him to the Pike’s.  Bridgit has grown and won’t back down.  She deep fries her brothers, before Jim & Bullock can arrive.  Selina confronts Bridgit, but Bridgit’s mind is set  She is off to make the pervs and bullies pay.  Jim and the Strike Force are there after Firefly frees the women.  Jim tries to calm her down but a bullet hits her fuel line and she is burnt up.  Selina is holding Leslie hostage when Jim arrives.  Jim explains that Bridgit is dead. Selena is heartbroken.  Her trust has been burned away by the fire.

Bruce and Alfred are boxing and it is clear Bruce has a lot to learn.  He is distracted by Alfred’s mention of Silver.  Bruce is invited to house Galavan and dinner with Theo & Tabitha as well as Silver.  While Tabitha and Silver throw him off his guard Theo works his plan.  He talks about Bunderslaw and the dirty dealings of Wayne Enterprises.  Theo promises to help Bruce fight it when he becomes mayor.  Once again Theo is moves ahead and Bruce is about to get burnt by fire.

One of those dirty parts of Wayne Enterprises is Indian Hill.  We see the still alive but badly burned Firefly being wheeled through with rooms of people on each side.  It looks like Wayne Enterprises is building Batman’s future rogue gallery.

Jim has let the rage in and is pursuing every arsonist in town.  He has been so burnt by fire that he is breaking the rules.  The Strike Force call him on it and Captain Barnes reprimands him.  Will this fire burn him to ashes or forge him into a weapon for good?

Ed is listening to Kristen & Leslie talk.  He overhears Kristen say how glad she is that Tom is gone, but wishes Ed would be more forceful and let out his secret.  So Ed steps up and is more forceful and in charge.  After dinner and romance, Kris worries about Tom coming back and seeking revenge.  Ed finally tells her he killed her, even showing the badge.  She puts it all together and realizes he is a stalker and she wants out.  The fire of passion is too much and Ed has to explain it all, but he ends up choking her to death while trying to explain it all.  I see both Ed & his strong alter ego being melted by the fire of loss and anger into the Riddler.

Butch has been taken in by Theo and Tabitha suggests attaching things to his stump.  Barbara suggests a tiny chainsaw (Evil Dead).  But he ends up with a mallet.  Butch learns Penguin’s mother’s location but Theo knows Butch is a mole.  Butch says he is programmed to serve Penguin and Theo lets Tabitha the Tigress reprogram him.  Butch escapes and tells Penguin all.  Penguin is prepping for war.  The question is who will get burned by the fire of his rage?  I suspect Butch may have set Penguin up after Tigress broke the programming.

Karen & I talk about this and so much more on the episode.  You don’t want to miss it!
