SILY 696- Is the Bible Reliable

September 11th was an impact event. Kennedy’s assassination was an impact event. We trust the accounts of those events from people who were there, even decades later, because impact events don’t fade. If Jesus rose from the dead, that was the most profound impact event in human history. And the people who wrote about it did so at personal cost  while eyewitnesses to the event were still alive to verify those accounts. Not for fame, not for money, not for power. Most of them died for it. People don’t typically die for something they KNOW is a lie.

TSTP 87- Bad Harvest

Hawkins, Indiana has a way of turning even the most ordinary things sinister, and this time, the darkness is taking root at a farm. Picking up right where the premiere left off, Chapter Two of Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 wastes no time pulling the gang back into trouble.

S5E5 The Bullet That Saved the World

This is such a pivotal episode of the season that pretty much sets the tone and the direction of the rest of the season, and we are so excited to be joined by frequent feedbacker Erin this week to take it on! We talk about how much we love this episode and touch upon scenes such as the reunion with Broyles and the beautiful, heartfelt conversation between Etta and Olivia.

Haunted and Hunted

Guilt has a way of finding you, no matter how far you run or how loudly you laugh it off. That is the dark thread binding our two episodes together this month, as we dig into a pair of Twilight Zone classics that each ask what really happens when a man refuses to answer for his actions.

SILY 695- Sweetness is Coming

When he was only 16 years old, C.S. Lewis had his first vision of what would become the land of Narnia. Just a mental image. A faun carrying an umbrella and parcels in a snowy wood. That’s it. That’s all he had. I recently had a dream about a mason jar full of honey. And when I woke up, I had to immediately write it down. We won’t be visiting anything like Narnia today. There are no fauns, no packages, no lions, no witches. But I do hope this leaves you inspired in its own way.

TSTP 86- Welcome to Hawkins, New Kid

Hawkins, Indiana never stays quiet for long, and in the dead of winter 1985, it’s already getting weird again. Darrell and Addi are diving headfirst into Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, the brand-new animated spinoff from the Duffer Brothers and showrunner Eric Robles, set between the events of Seasons 2 and 3 of the original series.

SILY 689- Does College Matter

SILY 689- Does College Matter

For generations, the path to success seemed clear: graduate high school, go to college, get a degree, land a good job, climb the corporate ladder. But what happens when that formula stops working? When the degree doesn’t lead to the career? When AI disrupts entire industries overnight? When companies value credentials over competence? The rules of education and career advancement are changing faster than ever before. It’s time to rethink everything we thought we knew about education, success, and what really matters.

SILY 688- Two Roads

SILY 688- Two Roads

I recently finished watching the final season of Stranger Things. Without spoiling anything for those of you who haven’t seen it yet, there’s a profound conversation near the end of the season. One character is struggling with the weight of a painful loss and the guilt that comes with it. Another character, who’s been down a similar road, offers some wisdom about the choice we all face when dealing with difficult relationships and painful circumstances. The moment I heard the conversation tears began rolling down my face. It absolutely wrecked me and taught me something  powerful.

S5E1 Letters of Transit

S5E1 Letters of Transit

Welcome back, cortexifans, to our fifth and final season! We are kicking things off a tad unconventionally by starting off season 5… with a season 4 episode! “Letters of Transit” was Fringe’s whacky, out of the box 19th episode of season 4 and truly behaves as the backdoor premiere to season 5 which is why we ultimately decided to watch it and cover it that way.

SILY 687- I’ve Got This

SILY 687- I’ve Got This

I thought I had it all figured out. I’d driven that route dozens of times. I knew exactly where I was going. I didn’t need any help. So I turned off the GPS and relied on my own knowledge and experience. And that’s exactly when things went sideways. Sometimes I turned it off too early and ended up heading the wrong direction. Other times I turned it on too late and missed my opportunity to avoid trouble altogether. In both cases, the problem was the same. I thought I knew better. I thought I could handle it on my own.

Face the Truth

Can the truth be both our salvation and our damnation, depending on how desperately we need to escape ourselves? “Nervous Man in a Four Dollar Room” follows small-time hood Jackie Rhoades as he confronts his reflection in a mirror that forces him to face his true self and choose between continuing his criminal life or finding redemption. Meanwhile, “The Whole Truth” centers on a used car salesman who acquires a cursed car that compels anyone who owns it to tell nothing but the absolute truth, ultimately destroying his dishonest livelihood and forcing him to confront his own moral bankruptcy.
