SILY 710- Fresh Baked

One year ago, almost to the day, I sat down and wrote about cookies. Except I wasn’t really writing about cookies. I was writing about my daughter. The premise was simple. We all mature at different rates on different things, and just like a good batch of cookies, sometimes we need more time in the oven to become what we’re meant to be. You don’t throw the batch out. You give it more heat and more time. Well, the oven timer has gone off. It’s time to see how the cookies turned out.

S5E12 The Boy Must Live

We are truly nearing the end, cortexifans – so much so that you could make the argument that, even though this isn’t the penultimate episode of our podcast, we are covering the penultimate episode of the series given the fact that 5.12 and 5.13 aired together the same night as a two-hour finale. We talk about this incredibly important episode and all of the answers that it finally gives us alongside Fringe Connections creator Michael London.

SILY 709- Heart of the Matter

Wise. Warrior. Dancer. Husband. Father. Musician. Murderer. Songwriter. Leader. Adulterer. Victim. Full of mercy. Crazy. Cunning. Liar. Full of pride. Humble. All of these words describe the same person. It’s a person I strive to be like, and it’s the subject of today’s story. Intrigued?

Circular History

Is the past truly fixed, or is it merely waiting for someone brave enough to rewrite it? The Twilight Zone loved toying with the idea that time itself might bend for the right person, and few episodes explore that temptation as directly as “The Last Flight” and “No Time Like the Past.”

SILY 708- Surviving Disneyland

Walking out of Star Wars Land after the fireworks, I genuinely wondered if this was the moment we called it a night. We’d been in the parks for over twelve hours. My legs felt like they belonged to someone else and wished I’d find one of those hover chairs from Wall-E to melt into. I was ready to wave a white flag made out of a churro wrapper.

S5E11 Anomaly XB-6783746

While Chris sadly couldn’t make it to this episode, Darrell is joined by special guest Adam to discuss this emotionally heavy episode of Fringe as it winds down to its climax. With only three episodes remaining, Captain Windmark narrows in on the team after discovering that Michael is part of their plan to defeat the Observers, and the result is nothing short of, well… mindblowing.

Aviation Anomalies

Aviation Anomalies

What happens when reality itself becomes unreliable, and the very fabric of existence begins to unravel before our eyes? This month’s trip to the Twilight Zone explores themes of isolation, the unreliability of memory and perception, and the horror of facing a universe where your very being can be called into question, leaving us wondering what defines reality itself.

SILY 660- Lessons From Hyrule

SILY 660- Lessons From Hyrule

In the original Zelda game, Link can earn a new sword, the white sword, once he has expanded his health to five hearts. Once Link has twelve hearts, he is capable of wielding the most powerful sword in the game, the magical sword. In much the same way, as we adventure in our jobs, parenting, relationships, and all facets of life, we should be leveling up. We should be improving our skills, learning better methods, finding lessons in defeat, making notes for future battles, and investing in tools which will help us reach our ultimate goals.

SILY 659- Becoming the MVP

SILY 659- Becoming the MVP

According to Google AI, a Minimum Viable Product is a stripped-down version of a product or feature designed to be released early and get customer feedback. It focuses on the core functionality necessary to address a key customer need and allow for rapid iteration and learning. Essentially, it’s a way to test an idea with the least amount of effort and cost before investing heavily in a full-fledged product. FAR too often our desire for perfection turns into fear of failure. We never launch. Perhaps whether we know it or not we have a great MVP, we just don’t ever let it get off the bench and enter the game.
