Our very first hiatus episode is a roundtable discussion of the first half of season 5. Join me, Brian and special guest host Tony from The Devil You Know: A Constantine Podcast as we talk about our favorites and some things we wished they did better. We have some news about the location of the companion series, and we also know that Cliff Curtis and Kim Dickens have been cast in the show as leads. Unfortunately, we don’t know much else yet.

TWDTT 008 – Coda (S5E8)
Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 1:55:56 — 67.3MB) | Embed
Mixed reviews for me and my co-host about the season 5 mid-season finale, “Coda” but still a strong episode rating from both of us. In this episode, we talk about what thrilled us and what didn’t, what hit the right spot, and what missed the mark. We didn’t have all of the week’s ratings for TV at the time that we recorded, but they should be out by now. What we do have is a press release from AMC about how well this episode did, but they might be biased…a little.
“Coda” begins with one of the best cold opens in show history as Rick chases after escapee Bob 2. When he catches up with him, we see the result of Rick after a year and a half of zombie-apocalypse living as he tries to protect all of the original, old, and new members of his family. Read More…

TWDTT 007 – Crossed (S5E7)

The Walking Dead is one week closer to the mid-season finale with “Crossed,” the 7th episode of season 5. Rick is back (finally!) in this episode and we get a little slice of what is happening with all of our main characters. The ratings dipped a little this week, but still won the night. However, for the first week in a little while, TWD did not prevail over football.
Rick and the gang begin the rescue mission to free Beth and Carol from Grady Memorial Hospital. There is disagreement as to how this goal might best be accomplished, but they come to a consensus. Read More…

TWDTT 006 – Consumed (S5E6)
Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 2:10:52 — 75.9MB) | Embed
Only two episodes left until the mid-season finale after Sunday’s amazing Daryl and Carol episode. Full of subtlety and substance, season 5 episode 6 of The Walking Dead, “Consumed” is one of the best episodes of the season, according to one host at least, with only one tiny flaw. Still ratings gold for AMC, coming in at number one for another week in cable ratings, and oh yeah, beat football.
Carol and Daryl pursue a car like the one that stole Beth all the way to Atlanta, where they search for clues to where she might be inside the city. Read More…

TWDTT 005 – Self Help (S5E5)
Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 2:01:47 — 70.7MB) | Embed
As we careen past the quarter mark of the fifth season with the fifth episode, “Self Help”, directed by Ernest Dickerson, we finally get to see a little of what motivates one of the newest members of our Walking Dead family, Abraham. While not much is revealed, it is still a tantalizing clue to what makes this man tick. The ratings are not quite as high as last week, but still doing pretty good against football.
In this episode, we talk about the journey to D.C. and the obstacles our gang face along the way. Read More…

TWDTT 004 – Slabtown (S5E4)

While our love affair with The Walking Dead never ends, it can wax and wane. After three powerful episodes, we came down off our high with the fourth episode of season 5, “Slabtown”. This Beth-centric episode didn’t pack quite the same punch, but it certainly did not lack for creepy. The mystery of what happened to Beth is finally divulged, and we are very glad it did not drag out for the whole first half of the season. (*Cough* Sophia!) This episode can most definitely be labeled a filler episode, but the reveal at the end makes for an exciting setup! Read More…

TWDTT 003 – Four Walls and a Roof (S5E3)
Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 2:06:55 — 73.6MB) | Embed
“Four Walls and a Roof” continues the awesome streak that is Season 5 of The Walking Dead. The death toll rises as we get the first death of a major character this season as well as a few others. The ratings for this episode are still high, but Brian blames the World Series for the slight drop we see from last week. However, The Walking Dead still tops cable viewership for the third week in a row.
In this week’s discussion, we talked about what we liked about the episode, as well as a few things that missed the mark. We talked a lot about Gareth and the termites, but we also managed to talk about other parts of the episode, too. Some questions are answered while new questions are raised. Join us as we get down to the nitty gritty about our favorite show. Read More…

TWDTT 002 – Strangers (S5E2)
Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 1:52:25 — 65.3MB) | Embed
Season five continues with “Strangers” as we follow our gang in their journey away from Terminus. All the survivors are on high alert and proceed with caution after their harrowing experience. The ratings for episode 2 continue to be strong, and even though last week’s ratings didn’t measure up to football the way we thought, the numbers are still impressive.
In this week’s discussion, we break down the episode into three parts as we watch our favorite characters in this zombie-pocalypse world. We are introduced to a new character, Father Gabriel, who might not be all that he seems. As always, we try to answer the burning questions, but we really want to hear from you! Read More…

TWDTT 001 – No Sanctuary (S5E1)
Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 1:19:50 — 46.7MB) | Embed
No Sanctuary is the record-breaking season 5 premiere that knocked our socks off! Terminus is finally revealed, and while we don’t actually see anyone eating people, it’s pretty clear that’s what’s cookin’ in this episode. Full of thrills, kills, and chills, this episode was a nonstop roller coaster of suspense and sensitivity.
This week we discuss all of the crazy intensity a fan could want to be crammed into 45 minutes of TV. We answer some burning questions like “What is going on with Tyreese?” and “Do we buy Eugene’s explanation?” We also discuss the awesomeness that is “Rambo Carol” in this episode as well as the poignant reunions and the special after credit scene.
