If you’re wondering what new, hip-happenin’ musical trio is featured in the banner image for this podcast, let me take a moment to set you straight: that is no musical trio. At least, not so far as I am aware. These three young, devilish-looking creatures are just a few reasons we have to look forward to Arrow Season 5. Echo Kellum will be reprising his role as Curtis, on a more regular basis; the Black Canary’s imposter from the end of season 4, portrayed by Madison McLaughlin, will also return; and finally, the new face, Rick Gonzalez will appear as Rene “Wild Dog” Ramirez. In this installment of Arrow Squad, the triumvirate gather to take a look back on season 4. What worked? What didn’t work? What do we want out of season 5? These last 8 episodes we’ve talked more about what didn’t work, but we wanted to draw attention to some of the great setups of the season, what held our interest, and how that all gives us hope for the upcoming season. And that’s a wrap! Arrow Season 4 came and went, not without our qualms and frustrations, but it held a swagger for a while. On the scale of 1 to pleased, I’m hovering around mildly-amused. While I was stuck at work with some late-night shenanigans, my wonderful co-hosts took the reigns for the reactionary Arrow finale review! Thank goodness someone has something to say, right? The Shadow and Podcast Overlord discuss Arrow Season 4 Episode 23 “Schism”, which originally aired on May 25, 2016. Read more…

Welcome, Arrow Squad! We’re so glad you could join us, as always, for another installment of the podcast. This week, Podcast Overlord and myself (Miss Ice) have to make do without The Shadow (technical difficulties with watching the episode live). Because of schedules, we recorded almost immediately after the episode aired, but I think it ended up being great! We didn’t have time to think about plot holes or writing faux pas, so we finally had a discussion about the ongoing story. Read more…

Rain or shine, Arrow Squad is back with another discussion covering Arrow Season 4 Episode 19 “Canary Cry”, which originally aired on Wednesday April 27, 2016. Of late, Arrow seems to be delivering black-cloud episodes with heavy emotional scenes and confusing character arcs which defy the showrunners’ promises of a lighter-toned season. While so many consecutive episodes bearing such heavy content can seriously weigh on us, it’s hard to deny the fantastic performances that were brought to use through the arc of Laurel Lance’s death.
