“Which virtual reality episode do you like better?” – how is this even a content? It’s SO “For The Girl Who Has Everything”! I love my Alex you know that I do but things in that episode made it not as good as this one; had they explored more with Alex and Jeremiah it could have been awesome or even Alex falling into it because of an injury so she’s bored but the death of Jeremiah and the dialogue used for that scene was just problematic so yeah no content Kara’s is WAY better.
I love that you’re doing the season finale as a two parter because it really was; oh we get to talk about the Kryptonite suit, yay! So does this mean we’re going into season two now or the OTP debate? I will email you with comments about the other amazing season one episodes just for fun later. đ I feel the OTP debate should be closer to the start of season six just for the weight of it. đ Ooh maybe we’ll go into character discussions for the mains?!

We all miss Cat Grant! When she left you could definitely feel the hole in the show; as much as Alex is Kara’s home Cat was her guiding force. I love J’onn and he grew her physically also as a fighter but Cat was the guide for the essence of Kara as a symbol of hope; she would not be the paragon she is without Cat Grant.
Me: still đĄ about the ending.
700,000 is Legends numbers and they keep getting renewed so yeah not putting a lot of stock in the numbers reason. Ha. Season 5’s writing was crap though we all agree on that. Still that’s one bad season so not enough for me.
I’m still with Leslie, the announcement time is a bad look for the network.

Given DC Comics just did a MASSIVE layoff for the comic division of their company I don’t think anything is going to be coming out of comics for quite some time. Maybe they’ll finally introduce Kara to the movies again as part of an ensemble or as a guest character before maybe finally giving her her own film again since Wonder Woman has done so well, side note let Patty Jenkins do the movie for Kara also to give her a WW break but also to let the film be done well, but real talk it’ll probably be an ensemble first. I think we’ll see Melissa in a crossover first though before any of this goes beyond the cartoon version currently on as Justina said; I think DC knows her value now some but I don’t think they realize just how much power she has to expand things because they’re just now marketing to female fans of theirs. I mean just look how long it took to get us a Wonder Woman film! You can bet if it didn’t soar like it did we wouldn’t get a two or the Harley movie but when male films fail you still see another for them so sadly there’s a double standard and so I think DC is still cautious to go all out for the female characters thus I personally don’t look for much beyond a few bit parts TV wise.
If the decisions were up to me we wouldn’t be ending the series right now. I would give Melissa a break if she needed and put the series on pause for her but start the Alex Danvers spin off and so there would be crossovers for when Melissa came back and then Chyler would just guest star heavily on “Supergirl” when Alexis series is on hiatus by that point and that would be the crossover always for them because we love the sisters and yeah and then at season 10’s Melissa can go do other things while always being welcomed back as Kara of course and Chyler is staying on her series where Odette has been made a regular as Sam because I need my Sam/Alex content and then when it ends at season 7 at earliest (because we have seen her on “Supergirl” of course) then they can just do dan conventions because we love them and will give them all the money. đ

Max knows Kara is Alex’s sister by that point because Alex arrested him over Bizzaro and he said he would tell everyone her sister was Supergirl and she does the epic slam into the desk and took him to the DEO which James says is wrongful imprisonment in “Truth, Justice, And The American Way” which he’s not wrong but it’s not like you can be legal with Max exactly because he is a bad guy but he’ll just get out because of all the money he has so it was a great gray debate that should have been explored more but never was sadly.
Chyler gives me all the feels; I am definitely appreciative of her openness to us but yeah it hurts too because I feel the loss we could have never seeing these people again and it just makes me feel sad so again I love it but it hurts too!

Ooh…changing Astra’s fate, I don’t know about that because on the one hand yay more Astra but it’s not Laura so it’s a pass for me (Erica just isn’t the twins for me even though she’s a good actor in other series) and it takes away Alex’s huge antihero moment and again I think that’s so important to show so while I agree it would be great to have more Astra on the series I don’t want to bring her back at this point beyond flashbacks or alternate realities.
the timing of the announcement was awful. either they didn’t know which is stupid or they knew and did it anyway which is cruel and stupid. there is only one version of the twins and that is laura benanti’s. erica has never played astra. i think the lord technology vr is better than the obsidian tech because that is NOT how you put in contact lenses
I can believe they’re tone deaf Daryl, after all we’ve been saying for 3 years now at least they’re not alway writing Kara like her season one self and they didn’t care; they don’t care about the fact we never wanted any plot close to evil Lena yet we spent two years with manufactured fighting between Kara and Lena so as stupid as it is I can see it being the first option slightly more than the second.
They probably see this all as just more free publicity instead of the insult that it feels like; again they had Nicole and David there, they could have done SOMETHING for the series but didn’t and I know they didn’t want to detract from the event more than the massive comic layoff was going to do but still to do it so soon after announcing the new shows, one of which is about her more famous male cousin, it doesn’t look good. They easily could have made the announcement between days since everything was taped and not live and let’s be real they cherry pick questions anyways so they could have avoided the topic of questions were submitted but they don’t do it then. They easily could have made the announcement before Fandome and used Fandome as a showcase of what’s to come instead of what was lost because I would bet money they knew before day one even this was happening but they didn’t announce it then; heck they could have waited until a few months from now to announce it (yes some would still mention how it’s not a good look) but they announced it right after Fandome which is very tone deaf but that’s how some companies are – they’re more about the money than the longevity they could get from fan loyalty! I know this a business but still there’s such a thing as customer care versus just being about the money and this feels very much like caring about profits more than caring about the product anymore…to them they still have a Super so they probably see the two as interchangeable like they always have not realizing they’re individuals and how much they could have done by having both around because Kara allows you to do things Clark doesn’t due to the preconceived ideas about his character! Again it very much feels like they stopped caring about “Supergirl” the moment they got the rights to Superman and could start planning his own series; I know John will argue differently but this is how I personally feel because of timing like this, it may not be the full truth of things but I still believe his series effected ours.
I know there’s other factors such as the baby and maybe Melissa wanting to do other projects but again I ask if that’s the case why not just say that?! It would certainly save them some bad press. They’re saying nothing though which only continues the trend of looking bad; they don’t even really need Melissa to make a statement they just have to say it was mainly the actor’s choice and we know who they mean so yeah the fact they’re not jumping to tease spin offs makes me feel like we got ditched for the “big name” whether that’s true or not fully.
I can easily see them shifting David over to the Superman series because then that’s one step closer to Justice League for them. “Arrow” took a whole episode out of its final season to set up a spin off pilot, sure they haven’t green lit it yet but they still spent a lot of time hyping up the series, and we’ve had nothing teased (you can tease a spin off or even say you’re in negations to do one without there being a spin off sadly but it shows effort) so it feels kind of like we aren’t being as respected as other series. Legends despite having the lowest numbers rating wise for multiple seasons has been renewed each year so it’s like “What is up?!”; it just feels like we’re being treated differently from the other series and I don’t like it because “Supergirl” deserves better!
The CW definitely doesn’t seem to understand the loss of gold it’s taking with this move, if they did you’d think they’d be rushing to again announce a spin off (first featuring and focusing on Alex as she’s the second lead for a reason), and just how much potential awesomeness it’s giving up story telling wise – again there’s so many different directions you can take with Kara that you can’t Clark because of decades of writing for him. If they wanted him so bad they could have had one be a summer show and the other a fall show, if nothing else it builds your schedule! Again I’m always going to be bitter about this decision.
In regards to the twins, honestly even if Erica did try her hand at Astra there’s no way she can touch Laura as them! đ
I’m not going to lie, Max’s headset totally makes me think of the old Nintendo VR console they put out years ago which by itself gives you nostalgic feelings. Ha.

Remember what I said about Superhero shows and human physicality, Aaron? Ten years is all you get. Then the body cannot do the stunts anymore; especially on the wire. And with these show runners track record on safety; damaging Mehcadâs eye, and dropping lights on that production assistant (Batwoman) and the physical beating Melissa herself takes, and the damage Ruby Rose took⌠Voice work, Ms. Benoist, and thanks for the six years you will give us, that I never thought I would see. As a Supergirl fan, I am grateful.

“Hostile Takeover” is not a great episode but it’s a good episode I feel; it just speaks to how great season one is to me that the episode would be just good in comparison to others because there’s so many hits from the season!
“Falling” is definitely a top pick for me!
“Reign” and “Midvale” are easily the best episodes of season three! Again they scored with Odette as Sam because she definitely saved the season from being a love triangle that wasn’t a triangle drama. Oh how I wish she was in season four as Kara’s trainee and them exploring the different sides of being a hero instead of them doing the Agent Liberty bull!
andrew kreisberg may have turned out to be a giant creep but i think he had a good idea with alex adopting ruby after sam dying. as much as i love the character of sam this was a way to give alex a kid which is the reason she and maggie broke up as we know. fortunately he was exposed and fired but unfortunately they abandoned his idea and to put it simply they didn’t have a plan b for giving alex a kid and now we’re stuck with a plot point only mentioned once or twice a season. i would honestly say they’ll probably give alex a kid next season just to tie up the loose thread.
