Case Profile for Ruin
This week we follow Liz in the days weeks and months after her rejoining the world from her coma. Tom is dead, Agnes is older, some old faces return and we get one of those non Blacklister numbered episodes. Where Cape May and Requiem gave us insight into the mythology and backstory surrounding Katarina Rostova, this stand alone episode is all about the evolution of Elizabeth Keen. From profiler to partner to one bad mother shut your mouth, one may question if she has fully turned into Red or even her Mother.
Liz has taken on the persona of Grace a woman living in a cabin in Alaska alone with a gun and her dog where she builds up her strength and plans her move against Tom’s killers. Unfortunately, like much of the USA this first week of January 2018, a cold snap with an ice storm along with some untimely characters are here to ‘RUIN’ her party.
A man hiding from the Carlucci family turns up on Liz’s doorstep who was in witness protection. Now he is knocking on death’s door attempting to escape his assailants. The bad guys show up led by guest star William Maypother (LOST) as they try to pull a fast one over on Liz. Liz gets the upper-hand however as she goes on a hell bent rampage against them for killing her dog Kate, and her friendly neighborhood forest ranger Colin. She then escapes back to the life she left behind leaving all in Alaska asking who was that masked woman?
Ruin In Pictures
Here are a just a few of our favorite scenes from this week.
Liz’s Linguistics
Welcome to this special segment this week we are calling Liz’s Linguistics. Normally we play two scenes with words of wisdom from Red but given the Liz focus in this episode, we thought we would switch it up. Our first clip comes when Liz is talking to Red about revenge. Our second clip comes when Liz and Billy face off. Which was your favorite? If you prefer to go after the bad guys vote #LizRevenge, or if you are ready to grab the bull by the horns vote #LizAlive.

The Music of Ruin
We open the episode this week with a fantastic selection from Leonard Cohen with his song “Famous Blue Raincoat”. The opening lyrics clearly describe the current state Liz is in. Then we close the episode with “No Roots” by Alice Merton which was submitted by Blacklist super-fan, and my wife Tracy which was the perfect track to play as Liz is walking down the road.
You can hear these songs via the official Blacklist playlist on Spotify or the same playlist recreated by us on Apple Music.
