Case Profile for Dembe Zuma and Requiem
After months of searching for Dembe Red and the team look for the Sanctum Corporation, a group that specializes in hiding people better than witness protection ever could. They hid someone close to Dembe that could help Red get the answers he needs as to who poisoned him. However when both Dembe and Red find out the truth, we are plunged into a retrospective of Mr. Kaplan’s past to understand her current plight, and her attempt to get revenge against her former employer.
Katarina returns to give us another glimpse into the events that led up to our current story of how Red entered into Liz’s life, including the first time Katarina met Mr. Kaplan, an explanation as to why no one knows whom Liz’s dad really is, and another peak at that fateful night at Cape May. We also learn about Sam and how Liz came to be in his custody leading to the hour that Mr. Kaplan and Red meet face to face and begin building his now current criminal empire. This two-hour return of The Blacklist had us on the edge of our seats so listen in for all the details.
Be sure to answer our profiling question of the week: Who’s side will Dembe take in the war with Kaplan?. Visit our feedback page to leave a response or call +1 (304) 837-2278.

The Music of Dembe Zuma and Requiem
Surprisingly no actual songs of note that I could pick out were in Dembe Zuma, all the music was saved for the second hour Requiem. We hear two versions of I Will Survive, the original from Gloria Gaynor in Kate’s past as it transitions to the present and the cover version from Cake in the present working in the hotel room. We also heard Sophie B Hawkins “Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover” during the bar scene with Annie Kaplan. We then hear “Small Town” from Blues Saraceno as Kate contemplates moving to Amarillo with Annie. And then the finale at the ice rink we hear Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’” which was a perfect ending.
You can hear these songs via the official Blacklist playlist on Spotify or the same playlist recreated by us on Apple Music.

Hi Troy and Aaron.
I’m a fan of the show and I enjoy your podcasts. I listen to them every week.
I’ve never posted before but this has been bothering me a little and I feel that this needs to be pointed out.
In the Requiem episode I noticed a mistake with the timeline when Red and Kate knew and worked together.
In the Mato episode, when they went to get information from Little Nikos, it was established that Kate knew Red before Annie and Kate were shot.
Mr. Kaplan: do you remember what I looked like that night? lying in the street, my head torn open. Annie’s body in front of me.
Red: you know I don’t know what you look like, I was away.
Mr. Kaplan: Right. But he does. Little Nikos sat by my bed at the hospital.
But then in this current episode, they didn’t have Kate meet Red till after the fact. Which makes that scene from the Mato episode not make any sense.
Since most of the episode is Kate’s past memories, did she forget that major detail? Or was it altered from her still recovering from the bullet wound to the head and her migraines, I guess that could explain why it’s a bit fuzzy.
Oh well, it’s TV so I guess I should just let it slide.
It’s still doesn’t change the fact that it’s a compelling and well done episode.
Either it was a continuity error, OR … #MotherTheory! Katarina was away too.
This is definitely a clue towards #MotherTheory. No doubt about it.
First of all I’m a big supporter of #MotherTheory, so I hope it turns out to be true. I also liked the ending of Lost and How I Met Your Mother, so take that, haters!
Anyway, I only got a chance to listen to a minute or so stretch of this particular podcast, which is the part discussing about #MotherTheory, but Mr. Grey is dead, guys. This is why you haven’t seen him for a while. He betrayed Raymond, so when Raymond figured it out he put a plastic bag over his head.
I think that was meant more of a “OH HEY – It was nice to see Mr. Grey (Newton Phillips) because we have not seen him in a while”, vs a hey where the hell has that guy been.
Do we definitely know what happened to Red’s daughter..I just can’t remember with all of these episodes. If not, I have a theory.
We do not know what happened to “Jennifer” one potential daughter with Naomi Hyland, just that she is in Witness Protection and doesn’t seem to want to do anything with Raymond. Then there is the open question of did he have another daughter that may have been killed in the house he blew up.
