[sc:wptop]Atticus Nevins brings war to Sleepy Hollow forcing our witnesses to fight Berserkers, while Jenny and Joe find that their feelings for each other transcend friendship.
Abbie is left in charge of Sleepy Hollow’s FBI office, while Danny heads to Washington, D.C. to report on the Nevins case. As Jenny and Joe begin to realize the horrifying consequences of the Shard of Anubis, which has been absorbed in Jenny’s body, the entire Team Witness rallies to find out more about the Norse Berserkers which are trying to capture her.
Just when our team believes they have won the war against the Berserkers, Nevins and his sidekick, Sophie, appear – but wait – Sophie is an FBI agent! As Joe and the team rush back to find Jenny, she has been drawn to Pandora’s lair, as a new evil arrives in Sleepy Hollow!
“The Art of War” saw the convergence of our Team Witness (Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills) Pandora storyline with Jennie Mills and Joe Corbin and their Shard of Anubis pursuit. While Jenny and Joe have often been on the periphery in assisting Abbie and Crane, the impact of the Shard on Jenny and the tie in to The Hidden One (Pandora’s special friend and apparently the boss of Atticus Nevins) thrust them front and center into the fray. This closer interaction allowed us to see much more relationship development, as we watched a budding “bromance” between Joe and Ichabod. Ichabod hasn’t had any male figure with whom he can confide, and Joe is now filling that gap. With their shared military service and clear care for the Sisters Mills, their common interests and and goals allowed for great bonding moments.
And speaking of relationships, Joe and Jenny acknowledged their growing attraction for each other and, to the delight of “shippers” everywhere, finally kissed. Is the beginning of their budding relationship now at risk, as Jenny as apparently been possessed by the mystical powers of the binding stone, the Shard? As she turned into a molten lava looking, Super Shard Woman, she demonstrated superior strength and agility, but she also was very susceptible to possession by the one who was soon coming to Sleepy Hollow. We learned at the end of the episode that this is none other than Pandora’s master, lover, or perhaps both.
In another tender moment, Ichabod expressed his deepest fear of losing Abbie – now whether that signals his concern of being lost in the 21st century world or a perhaps, deeper feeling (and possibly unknown to himself), is yet to be seen.
The shock of discovering that Sophie Foster was an FBI agent, and that Abbie was not in the “Inner Circle” to know this information will no doubt have Abbie wondering about the future of her career and will likely bring Crane’s protective tendencies to the fore. I think SleepyHeads everywhere want to know for which side Danny is playing, and if we can trust him. This coming week may bring us some answers.
