The Iron Throne is being held precariously by a boy. The seven kingdoms of Westeros are all in a chaotic state. It is as if this world were a massive chess board. Each character is a pawn in someone else’s game. The objective of this game as with any is to win. The goal is to gain control and to be King.
Who will rule the seven kingdoms? Maybe not a man but the mother of dragons. Daenerys Targaryen has the blood to rule. Her quest is faltering of late. She has lost the control of her dragons. Furthermore she freed an army of slaves whom at first served loyally. Now her decisions and a masked killer have caused unrest. The people that were hailing her as their queen now feel betrayed.
Cersei Lannister is mourning her father. Maybe it is more accurate to say she is missing the power her father wielded in King’s Landing. The king is only a boy and Cersei is not gaining any respect in the small council. As if she doesn’t have enough worries they are threatening her only daughter who is miles away in Dorne. Queen Marjorie wants Cersei back at Casterly Rock as soon as possible but Cersei will never leave without a fight.
Jon Snow is faced with an impossible decision. He took a vow to be a brother of the night’s watch. After a recent vote he has become the Lord Commander. The vote was close and there is unrest in the ranks. He was forced to behead one of his men to show the others that his word is law.
Stannis Baratheon is offering Jon a deal that is a basterd’s dream. In exchange for his men’s support. Stannis said he would legitimize Jon making him a Stark. This would give Jon the power he needs to be Lord of the North. Stannis needs the Bolton’s out of the way and a Stark in the North to clear his way to the Iron Throne.
Arya Stark remains at The House of Black and White. There she is learning how to serve The Many Faced God. She believes she has lost everyone in her life. Therefore she is willing to become “no one” in the game of faces. Sansa Stark has returned to the North. It is being held by the Bolton’s under the banner of the flayed man. Whispers in dark corners assure her that the “north remembers”. However when the time comes that Sansa begs for aid no help comes to her. She is forced to marry the cruel Ramsay Bolton as winter approaches.
Back in King’s Landing The High Sparrow has taken control. Setting a religious law over the people and purging all those perceived as evil. Cersei will most certainly regret crossing the Tyrells. Everything Cersei did to keep Queen Marjorie from taking her power and controlling her impressionable son will haunt her. Cersei’s father is dead. Her brother Jamie is on a mission in Dorne. Who will help Cersei now in her hour of need.
Daenerys lost her chief advisor in the battle against The Son of the Harpy. Help is on the way. Jorah Mormont has found his way back to his Queen and he has brought her a gift. Tyrion Lannister may only be half a man but he plays the game of thrones better than anyone. On his journey Jorya was scratched by one of the stone men. What will his fate be? If Daenerys marries the son of one of the powerful families in Marine will that improve her standing with them? Winter is coming and all the battles are heating up. Will the boy Tommen Baratheon keep his throne? Tune in on Sunday’s at 9/8c on HBO to find out. Don’t have cable, no problem, HBO NOW offers streaming of great HBO content for 14.99 per month.

I’ve always been Team Stark but the Stark team has quickly lost most of its team members! The more I think about it, I do think that Daenerys Targaryen is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne and if she would listen to Tyrion and others, she could be a very good ruler. Great blog and look forward to seeing the results of the poll.
