12 Monkeys Season 4 Night 3 Discussion with Terry Matalas
The third trio of 12 Monkeys season 4 episodes begin the “descent into darkness” of night 3, which includes 407 “Daughters,” 408 “Demons,” and 409 “One Minute More.” The search for the weapon may have ended in tragedy, but the revelations made throughout the night were almost too much to take in! Terry’s input is going to be incredibly crucial for this one.
Terry Matalas joins Mike and Cory for this discussion of night 3, and the 12 Monkeys showrunner has plenty to share about how these three episodes were conceived and executed. We speculate on how the true identity of the “demon” will affect the two-hour finale, what it means for the identity of Cole’s mother to finally have been revealed, and how the various deaths in these episodes effect the overall satisfying nature of the finale run.

I wish we had seen more of Hannah and Emma because that was an interesting friendship.
The Hannah reveal was definitely well done; I didn’t expect her at all!
Jennifer is always great for a laugh; she’s definitely a character I’m going to miss along with Jones and Cassie honestly even though she’s not my favorite again I love how she’s unapologetic about her antihero status!
The way Terry says it makes sound different so correct me if I’m wrong, but Jenifer was saying Ocrana Village right in reference to the ZELDA series? Poor Deacon. Terry jokes about a graphic novel but that’s how a lot of series are continuing post TV so that might be something he wants to look into doing to maybe keep this universe going if he does – comics are the new seasons.
One thing I didn’t like about the 1491 episode was I wish they had played “Don’t You Forget About Me” during Jennifer’s scene with Old Jennifer instead of it mainly playing during Hannah’s and Emma’s stuff because it felt like it would fit more in a “Deacon” scene than just in the episode itself to say it was there.
Jones is more the demon to me than Cole.
Bring on the deep dives!
Hannah got some gray yes, but not enough to ever make me believe she was old…she still looked in her 20s to me so the gray felt meaningless in that regard. 🙂
Let’s be fair to Emma – who wouldn’t crush on Hannah. Ha.
It’s all about Catarina! 🙂
