I rather enjoyed the Pilot episode. Sure there were a few nit pick things here and there (as mentioned in the podcast) — mainly about the “realism” in the fighting.
My favorite fight sequence was with Miles at the Hotel against the Militia men. However — there didn’t seem to be a whole lot of “blood” (or evidence of it) unless someone was “shot”. If you’re run through with a sword, you’re going to bleed — it’s not going to be slow. A bleeding wound is a bleeding wound — not matter what the cause.
Danny and Charlie — boy do these kids need to grow up & fast. Being a hot head and just doing the first thing that comes to mind is going to get you killed. I hope it happens & happens fairly fast because I’d hate to “dislike” one of the major characters, i.e. Charlie.
That being said, Miles & Aaron are tied — right now — for my favorite character.
Till next time Revolutionaries!

Thanks for the comment, Bianca! Revolution does have a late time slot, but it’s still network TV. I’m not sure how much blood they are going to be able to show. I also hope that Danny and Charlie grow up fast. Hopefully Uncle Miles can help with that.
Not bad. But they had better not drag out the pretty Nazi boy loves the Pretty girl story. Unfortunately these are the two characters I hated from this pilot. So it needs to be fixed in the next few episodes. Please, I don’t like the pretty boy saves you story line.
At the end of the day he screwed you all over for his own agenda. The Militia killed your dad and would have killed all your friends if your Uncle wasn’t such a bad ass. Don’t let his smouldering look fool you.
I hope they fix this, because it’s a terrible plot point. Otherwise I like it.
One other thing, complete power failure of a jet liner doesn’t cause it to tumble out of the sky, they become gliders. Thanks to Nat Geo’s Aircrash Investigation I known this is what would happen. 🙂
I definitely agree that airplanes would not have crashed the way depicted in the pilot. I think that was only done for dramatic effect. They still would have crashed, but not in that fashion. The “relationship” between Charlie and Nate doesn’t bug me at this point. I think that Nate might be legitimately conflicted. Maybe he was forced into the militia by his parents. Maybe his allegiance is torn. Maybe he’s simply playing her to get her to give up information. I think we’ll find out soon.
However,
If a plane lost ALL of their power it is possible they may lose their hydrolics as well locking the stick an possibly causing the plane to spin like it did…
cheers,
Jake
A guy I’ve known for years was self-taught in all sorts of martial arts (as well as sword-based defense techniques)… He did a public demonstration about a decade or so ago where he took on 7 of the local karate school’s black-belts (and won). That big fight scene actually reminded me of him when I saw it.
It’s not too implausible for someone who reeeeally knows what they’re doing (and knows the terrain as Darrell pointed out) to take on a bunch of guys (who probably aren’t that prepared for him) single-handed.
Cool info, Unabeefer! That would be pretty amazing to see in person.
Great podcast episode guys!
As for Revolution, I will just about anything in my sci-fi shows, especially JJ Abrams, however, Charlie running around in hipster jeans and belly top, really? I know that’s for the guys but still, a bit annoying.
Fights: the first one in the town was a bit cheesy but Uncle Miles can kick some ass! But what’s with the guys holding semi-automatics and not shooting? In Star Wars, they respected the Jedi’s and didn’t interrupt, but in this show, the sword fighting and guns doesn’t mix well. Just make it swords. I can buy everything else in this show. Overall, not as hooked as I was with other pilot shows (Fringe, LOST, Firefly, BSG) but I’ll give it a few weeks to get it’s legs.
Looking forward to more wonderful chats with you guys! Take care.
