In episode 09 of The Revolution Podcast we share listener feedback we received for the Revolution episode, “Soul Train.” Thanks to the abundant supply of listener feedback coming in to The Revolution Podcast, we are now dedicating an entire episode each week to the voices of our listeners! This week we received thoughts on Tom’s backstory, the attempt that was made to rescue Danny from the train, the alliance between the Georgia Federation and the Plains Nation, and we even receive a new theory about what might have caused the pendant to come on by itself a few episodes ago.
Send in your theories and feedback by clicking on the link on the right hand side of this page, calling our voice feedback line at 304-837-2278 or by emailing us at feedback@goldenspiralmedia.com.

Hi guys! I’m really glad you have split the feedback section off from the main podcast. Now I can listen to each part over my lunch breaks. At the end of this feedback…uh…what do you call this anyway…feedbackcast? Anyway, at the end you mention the idea of disconnecting the train car that has Danny. I wondered about this too, but as I describe on my blog I don’t think this idea would have worked. This is the configuration of the train:
engine->tender->danny car->troop car->troop car->caboose
If they had disconnected the ‘danny car’ from the tender to let the engine and bomb head off to explode they would have had to contend with Neville and all the armed militia troops in the troop cars as these cars all slowed down to a stop. And how would they get away with Danny? They don’t have their horses any more. Assuming they somehow got Danny away from Neville, he and all the militia troops would be shooting at them as they ran away from the stopped train cars.
Alternatively, if they had disconnected the ‘danny car’ from the first ‘troop car’ to leave the militia troops behind they not only alert Neville but they also risk having the bomb blow up while the engine is still pulling the ‘danny car’. So let’s say they do disconnect the ‘danny car’ from the troop cars. What do they do next? They need to 1) get far enough away from the troop cars to take them out of the equation 2) get the bomb before it blows up and 3) rescue Danny, all while Neville is holding his Desert Eagle to Danny’s head saying ‘give up or he dies!’
I think concentrating on getting rid of the bomb was the best choice. If Charlie had stuck to the ‘plan’ and only located Danny rather than try to take him from Neville, then there would have been at least a slim chance Miles and Charlie working together could have rescued Danny, but even that is a stretch because the exploding log would have alerted everybody on the train that something was up and that would have made rescuing Danny really difficult. No more element of surprise.
The more I think about it, there really was no good way to both get rid of the bomb and rescue Danny from Neville. I think they did pretty good just to save Danny from dying in a train wreck and live to tell the tale.
You bring up some really good points, Jim. I hadn’t really paid much attention to the exact order of the cars but I went back and watched that part again and you are spot on. Thanks for the insight!
