If you are in your mid thirties you might be a member of the Muppets Generation. They taught us all our ABC’s and 123’s. They taught us about manners and to be kind to one another. They sang songs that got stuck in our heads and drove our parents nuts. Now we are grown up and they are grown up too. See these lovable friends in a new light that is different yet familiar all at the same time.

Of course you have Kermit. He is calm, collected and always dependable. He is keeping everything in order as the Muppets start a new show called Up Late with Miss Piggy. The years have not changed her. She is still a ham for the camera. The years have not humbled her. She is still a Diva. Over the summer Twitter was rocked by the news the Kermit and Miss Piggy’s relationship was over. Now the world gets to watch as they move their separate ways.

Fozzie is still gullible and innocent telling the same bad jokes. He is trying out interspecies dating. His girlfriend Beckie is a human. They are charming together. Rowlf owns a local tavern where the Muppets go to decompress after a hard day’s work. Scooter is high strung and stuck living with his mother. Gonzo, well does anybody really understand what a weirdo does all day?

Up Late with Miss Piggy was modeled after a show like The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. This provides a wonderful platform for celebrity guests and musical performances that echo the classic Muppet Show. Interview clips like those featured in the tv show Modern Family offer a look behind the scenes. This is where you can see the friends you grew up with updating their dating profile, trying to figure out their IPhones, basically just living. Don’t worry about the old guys. Statler and Waldorf are around to heckle their friends no matter what they are up too.

This show is nostalgic, funny, fresh and fun. Keep in mind that some of the jokes are slightly mature in nature. This show carries a TV PG rating so not too much to worry about except for perhaps the youngest members of your household This is a great family show that is starting off Tuesday nights on a hilarious note. Not to mention grand musical numbers. Best episode so far is episode 4 when the gang has an epic Karaoke party. Tune in on Tuesday’s at 8/7c  for The Muppets on ABC. You will be smiling by the end, I promise!
