In episode 28 of Triplecast we start a new Triplecast series and this time we covering three Christian Bale movies, EquilibriumThe Prestige, and 3:10 To Yuma.  In episode 28 we take a look at the 2002 release, Equilibrium.  The film was only released to a little over 300 theaters, so this is one of Bales lesser known films.  Many critics downgraded the movie for its similarities to other dystopian films like Fahrenheit 451 and 1984 and it similar action scenes with The Matrix.  Now that The Matrix and Equilibrium have been out for over 10 years, we’re able to provide a more objective look at Equilibrium and discuss how it stands on its own.

We share our thoughts on the color and style of the film, the main characters and how they developed as the film progressed, the fighting sequences and choreography, and the computer generated effects.  Overall we both loved the film, the dystopian world that it created, the triumph of humanity, and amazing fight choreography.

Equilibrium was written and directed by Kurt Wimmer with Klaus Badelt providing the musical score.  Equilibrium stars, Christian Bale as John Preston, Emily Watson as Mary O’Brien, Taye Diggs as Brandt, Angus MacFadyen as Vice-Counsel DuPont, Sean Bean as Errol Partridge, and William Fichtner as Jurgen.
