Welcome to Stuff I Learned Yesterday. My name is Darrell Darnell, The Twilight Zone is my favorite show of all time, and I believe that if you aren’t learning, you aren’t living. In today’s episode of Stuff I Learned Yesterday we’re back with another installment of the Friday Forum.

Today’s Fun Fact:
I just picked up The Complete Definitive Collection of The Twilight Zone so I think it’s a great time to share some Twilight Zone facts with you.

  • William Shatner appears in two episodes of The Twilight Zone. You may remember his infamous role in the episode entitled, “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet.” In that episode, he plays an airline passenger who was the only one that could see a monster on the wing, tearing the plane apart. But he also appeared in the episode, “Nick of Time.” In that episode he played a man who discovered a frighteningly accurate fortune telling machine.
  • Leonard Nimoy appeared in the episode, “A Quality of Mercy” and George Takei appeared in the episode, “The Encounter.”
  • Burgess Meredith, known for playing The Penguin in the 1960’s Batman series and Mick in the Rocky movies appeared in 4 episodes. “Time Enough to Last” and “The Obsolete Man” rank among my favorite episodes of The Twilight Zone. He also appeared in “Printer’s Devil” and “Mr. Dingle, the Strong.”
  • Rod Serling said, “submitted for your approval” only three times during the show’s entire run. He used the signature phrase in the introductions to “Cavender is Coming,” “In Praise of Pip,” and “A Certain Kind of Stopwatch.” He said, “submitted for your perusal” in the episode, “To Serve Man.”
