Welcome to Stuff I Learned Yesterday. My name is Darrell Darnell, today I’m making my trade show debut as a vendor with my podcast consulting and production company Pro Podcast Solutions, and I believe that if you aren’t learning, you aren’t living. In today’s episode of Stuff I Learned Yesterday we’re taking a trip back to one of the most popular episodes of Stuff I Learned Yesterday.

Today fun fact is: Today is Uncommon Instrument Awareness Day! While the instrument I’m going to share with you today is not totally obscure, it’s an instrument that I bet most of you will not hear today unless you hear it from me.

The instrument is called a sitar. It’s a guitar-like instrument that is very popular in traditional Indian music and Hindu culture. Ravi Shankar popularized the instrument in the 1950s and 60s. One of my favorite sitar players is Becky Gebhardt from the folk band, Raining Jane. Here’s a clip of Becky playing the sitar, accompanied by her band mate, percussionist Mona Tavakoli. Mona is playing another slightly less know drum called a cajon.

Friday Forum
I want you to be a part of the Friday Forum! Friday Forum is your opportunity to Share what YOU’VE learned, so that other listeners and I can learn from YOU. It can be a message as short as 30 seconds or several minutes long. It really doesn’t matter just as long as it’s something that will benefit others. You can participate in Friday Forum by visiting our Feedback Page or calling our voice feedback line at 304-837-2278.

Today’s episode of Stuff I Learned Yesterday is a Friday Flashback. Friday Flashback episodes will feature some of the most popular episodes of Stuff I Learned Yesterday. Today we jump in the TARDIS to listen to episode 316 that originally aired on April 24, 2014 called, Stop Worrying About What Other People Think.
