SHOW NOTES:
Forbes’ Season 3 Review
Lash on Marvel Wikia

I’m wondering how long Bobbi and Hunter will be around this season given that their spin-off is on. I agree with Mike, I found Lincoln wanting nothing to do with S.H.I.E.L.D. believable because he never trusted them to start with and then you add Jai-ying betraying his trust in a way and I can see him wanting to go solo; I did love him being the reinforcement as well for Daisy’s search for Jemma “I told you, I don’t know anymore about the rock!” so it shows Daisy has asked a lot for help because that would have been really unrealistic if they hadn’t shown Daisy looking for her. I’m wondering if this is a set-up for Jemma to have powers because how is she surviving on this planet? She has no supplies really and she’s been there for weeks if not months so how is her body dealing with this? Lincoln wasn’t the only one who helped Daisy with her powers, Jemma and Andrew helped as well.
This is the most I’ve liked Lincoln so far on the show personally; he was trying to be his own person, he wasn’t trying to get into Daisy’s pants half the time, and he was realistic about why he wasn’t trusting anyone. I definitely enjoyed Lincoln in this episode. I hope we see more of this him during his time on.
Acting wise, I agree Iain is doing great performances but character wise, I’m not crazy about Fitz; I still like him at times, but I don’t love him. Him bad mouthing Simmons and making it seem like she was the bad guy at the start of season two really rubbed me the wrong way; he was not the only one in that pod, he was not the only one Ward betrayed, he was not the only one who saved someone down there, and it’s not like Jemma can tell Coulson “No” without being fired so her leaving while he was in the hospital wasn’t fully her choice and even if it was he was not the only one hurt by that. I didn’t like him trying to guilt trip her either into loving him back, yes he gave her the breather but she pulled him up with her so she’s just as much a hero as he is and still just because he helped save them doesn’t mean Jemma is required to love him back because of it; Ward helped them at the end of season two it doesn’t mean she wants to be with him. Again acting wise I’m loving Iain’s work, but character wise I have problems with Fitz. Iain wears suits well. I really hope it’s not just Fitz trying to save Jemma because she’s important to the whole team and has a bigger storyline than just some romance; I’d rather watch Jemma on the planet and her own personal journey than Fitz repeating this episode over and over until she comes back.
I vote for “Is this cagey banter or are we being honest?” in Colsass. I still have mixed feelings about superpowers in the show; on the one hand, I get the appeal, but on the other I do like seeing people use their no need for CGI powers to deal with those who have them. Again I really hope they don’t forget anyone’s skills in the face of these new abilities; a prime example being Daisy and her hacking abilities and how they shouldn’t be dismissed just because she could quake a door down instead of opening it silently via hacking methods. I still believe the debates in season two were more Civil War than anything that’s been shown here; I know the events were suppose to lead into “Age of Ultron” but to me they were way more “Civil War” vibed. A good opening episode.
