Three hundred years ago Mr. Mxyptlix betrayed Nyxly when he testified against her. The result of that trial was Nyxly being banished to the phantom zone. Now the princess of the fifth dimension seeks to reassemble the All Stone which would give her power over all existence. Supergirl and her team must protect Mxy because his blood is the key to the All Stone.
Imps can be tracked by their magic. Therefore Mxy must find a way to be of service without using his powers. J’onn says “an imp without magic is like a rocket ship without fuel”. Needless to say, this is a difficult mission but Mxy tries his best. His heart is definitely in the right place. Magic from the fifth dimension is hard to beat. The properties of which nullify the first few solutions our team comes up with. Mxy is on the right track, however, a Trojan horse may be just what they need to win this fight.
Lena makes her way to Fortune Cove to try to discover more information on her birth mother. Strangely, as soon as she mentions Elizabeth Walsh’s name the local residents become unhelpful and eager for her to leave. Andrea uses her sources to find the last woman Lena seeks. Florence was hard to find, but once located, is willing to share the information Lena has traveled here for. Lizzie came to her in her dreams and told her good friend that someday her daughter would come seeking answers. Lena has inherited more than a beautiful face from her mother. She also possesses the spark of her magic. This revelation made Green Butterfly really happy. I have always wanted Lena to be more than another Luthor in a House of El story. I love Lena the scientist and business genius. She is one of my favorite characters so how could I say no to an expansion of her character. I only wish we could have more episodes left to explore this untapped skill.
Now all I can say is Lena better fly home quickly because the Super Friends need some magical help. Lena always gives 100% to any problem she faces. She will work tirelessly to help the team succeed against the Imp with world domination on her mind. Supergirl and her team must find the totem of courage before Nyxly does. Whoever controls courage also controls fear. Don’t you worry though. Silver Vox and Green Butterfly will be with you every step of the way as we continue the adventure of Supergirl’s final season. “SUPERGIRL” STAR AZIE TESFAI CO-WROTE THE EPISODE DIRECTED BY DAVID RAMSEY – Kelly is horrified when the Ormfell building implodes, injuring many in the community, including Joey. However, her horror quickly turns to frustration when she realizes that the hospital is overwhelmed, people are getting sicker, and no one is coming to help – including Supergirl who is busy fighting Nyxly. Knowing that she can make a difference, Kelly embraces her power and fully steps into her role as Guardian. Joined by Supergirl, Alex, Diggle and team, Guardian leads the way to restoring justice to the fallen community. The episode was directed by David Ramsey and written by J. Holtham & Azie Tesfai and will air on September 21, 2021 at 8:00E/7:00C on the CW.

OK I left this in my feedback, but I don’t know why Lena has to have magic. It seems that no one can be a part of the team without a suit/powers. I regret that we have spent all these seasons squandering what Lena is good at, science. We can’t even get one season where she uses her skills for the entire season with the team with out other motives. I’m happy we got a Supergirl series, that opened the door for movies and other female heroes in the DC realm. But I feel too often Supergirl was not the star of her own series. But just behind that was the squandering of Lena. I think of all they could have done with her and the partnership with Kara. But no and now to “make her relevant” to the season they give her magic. I’m so unhappy. If I even get Netfix back I’ll have to check out Merlin.

Oh my gosh Geoff yes and it’s SO annoying! Like okay push comes to shove you can kind of understand Alex taking something on since they don’t want to do the DEO, fine but Kelly and Lena – no. Kelly goes out of her way in season for to tell James Guardian is a dumb way to handle your emotions but now we’re suppose to believe she wants to embrace that over her well earned skills? It’s not enough Lena is super smart she has to have super powers now also? Yawn! As the saying goes – when everyone is special no one is special…that’s what we’re seeing now, great characters made generic each week.
As for Kara not feeling the lead of her own series, this happens with long term ensemble shows so I’m not surprised about it. I don’t mind there being more people in the series I just wish they had mixed them up more! To your point about Lena and science, you know who else is into science? Alex! When she isn’t punching people in the face that was like her go to thing. Arguably in season two you even could have set up Alex/Lena and had Maggie be the lead in to Alex’s reawakening instead of doing Sanvers.
Kelly and Kara are fun together but they’ve only done like one episode together and what might Nia and Kelly be like working together or just hanging out? How about Alex and Nia? Oh my gosh could you imagine Nia being the wingman for Alex on a date while Kara is busy fighting something in the city but she insists Alex goes out so it explains why she’s at a club instead of the battle? 🙂
Imagine Kara training a Sam who stayed post season three! She could finally be the teacher she always wanted to be for someone then because she has honestly trained no one so far; Winn did James and Mon and Brainy had interacted with Nia more than Kara ever has sadly. Or you could have Nia show Kara what being a reporter really is because Kara isn’t that either. If you’re going to have an ensemble let them mix not just keep the same ones mainly to other ones alone!
Again I will say we started I feel with the most potential but sadly we’re going to end as the joke of many other fandoms and that’s just sad. 🙁
As you said I’m glad we have the series and I’ll always love season 1 and enjoy season three and Alex’s coming out in season two but I can’t help but think of what might have been if as John said they just put some more care into things like we have…I know it’s the end but that doesn’t mean you can’t still show some pride and skills when writing, call it flexing for your next job if nothing else.
i wanted to see more of a friendship between nia and kelly too. remember in one of kelly’s early episodes she and nia had a great scene in the bathroom. i was hoping it would lead to a friendship between the two but i don’t think those two have shared a scene alone together since then

Oh the banner…as intended it reminded me of the episode and how I haven’t enjoyed an episode like this for over 2 years certainly and maybe even three, season four while not as crap as 5 and 6 still has its issues. This was just a fun time! Again I’m not holding my breath for this streak to continue but this feeling was nice to experience again. 🙂
“She also possesses the spark of her magic.” – was Katie’s actor wish to be on a series with care and good writing again and so they’re basically doing ”Merlin’ for her? Melissa got pants, Azie got an episode to write, Chyler got a suit (sorry Chyler but that plot is going on tragically too long – Alex doesn’t need a suit!) and Katie got an audition tape for her next medieval series. Ha. Ooh now I’m thinking about her medieval background and Rachel Skarsten’s (she was on “Reign”)…imagine them in one together!
“K Vox thinking about how she can work with Krypto to defeat the magic cat.” – lol, but also yes take the cat down; sorry I don’t trust cats as they’re egotistical and moody. True not all cats but a good dog like cat is rare; most are not to be trusted. The image for the gag is cute though. ?
“What do you think about Lena having magic?” – HATE IT! I couldn’t slam that button fast enough; it’s like Kelly in a suit – you already have a power like this called your mind. Stop trying to super everything creators, just because its on a comic hero show doesn’t mean everyone has to be the same as that just makes everyone generic when it happens; sigh, first they damage Alex with the move then make Kelly genetics, and now Lena. This isn’t “Charmed, not ever character needs powers. ? On a plus side, you can now play “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” by the Police when talking about a Lena scene!
Ugh next week is going to suck…that synopsis is even heavy handed. ?

Leslie pointing out continuity errors – love it! Also yes Alex’s coming out was amazing…possibly because some personal experiences were coming out from writers themselves where as with the other social elements we’ve seen they do not have experience so it feels less organic? Maggie and Alex were sweet but I could never go all in with them as Kate Kane looms large in the life of Maggie Sawyer.
What saddens me is “Supergirl” had such potential as a series but they blew it up every chance they got especially post season three and now we’re looked at as a dud show. ?
They said last week only magic can beat magic and if Mxy isn’t there someone has to be the magic person so it’s like they just gave it to Lena so she has something to do versus the plot actually being earned; forget that science is often considered the modern magic no we’re back to Morgana! It’s lazy and not earned so sadly on point for the series in this season especially. Much like Kelly as Guardian no good will come from this.
Oh Justina you have too much hope for what’s going to happen for where we are now, I love the enthusiasm but I feel you’re heading for disappointment.
I feel like Lena will still use science to boost her “magic” abilities to stay kind of in character but I’m with John it’s at the end of the day still going to just be Lena V Nxy. ? Honestly what annoys me the most is this idea that you need something extra to be good enough, like Lena being an awesome scientist isn’t enough she has to be magic now and Kelly being a shrink isn’t good enough she has to be in costume even though she said previously said costume isn’t the appropriate at to handle feelings of being overwhelmed by something and you have Alex even suiting up when her whole thing has always been to represent that not all heroes wear capes and so you started with these good concepts and just ended with them being so generic and for what? This is why Felicity Smoak still stands out as one of the best characters in the Arrowverse – she just is…she doesn’t suit up but she can still be on the battle field at times, she’s never needed to a literal magic spell to be beat someone and she never felt she was less important because she wasn’t in the field…okay maybe once she did but she solved that lame idea in like the same episode so she was good, ha. Felicity was an average realistic Joe and she is proud of it and because of that she’s loved and stands out from everyone else in the universe; sure costumes are cool but I ask you who’s more memorable Felicity or a Black Canary? You have like 3 of those now at least but there’s only one Felicity.

Oh the creative team definitely isn’t putting in the care anymore John, they can’t legitimately care about “Supergirl” anymore and put out the stuff they do each week that we see here. Kelly would be giving people in depth character moments not polishing her helmet for a battle if they still cared like they did in the past; I know the show is over so they can’t do anything here but guys you can still put in care and show you we’re passionate until the end if you wanted…it’s too late now but that’s something I miss about old shows – they wrote with consistency until the last scene faded no matter what time their series ended. Again this lack care is going to leave our legacy as the “biggest failure” when we should have been one of the best consistently who only ended soon because the lead wanted to spend time with their kid and you can say it’s okay because they’re doing that spin off okay over all but we aren’t even getting that even though Alex could totally be an Amanda Waller lite and lead that show! I say lite because no one will top Amanda herself, Lyla got close but even she couldn’t do everything Amanda would for her mission. 🙂 EMBRACE THE ANTI-HEROES!!!!!
