It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Kara lays snug in her bed with visions of pot stickers dancing in her head. Green Butterfly is dreaming too. Dreaming about a new high flying season of Supergirl and all the adventures it will contain. What would you suggest if you were in the writers room? What are your hopes and dreams for our Maid of Steel?
First and foremost I wish for happiness for our super friends. Watching these characters week after week it is impossible not to become attached. We learn and grow and evolve with them. Notice I did not say happy ending. Above all I want to see our beloved team continue on even if it is not under the supergirl title card anymore.
I agree with Silver Vox and some of you who have said Nia would be a great fit on Legends. I would like our story to travel to the 31st century for many reasons. First Wynn is there and I would love to see him again. I would love to see our Brainy take on the malevolent brainiac he is hiding from. In some comics Kara serves as an inspiration for the Legion of Superheroes. As our paragon of hope I would love to see that come to life.
I want Lena to continue to transcend her last name and be the hero I know she is. I want the Alex adoption story to not be forgotten. I want her to have a family in season six. In my opinion children do not mess up superhero shows. Parenthood brings new depth to our characters as they balance personal and professional lives.
Lastly as many of you have said. I want to end on the couch with our two sisters talking. Not sure if Kara will find romantic love in season six but I want her to have Alex and hopefully a niece or nephew by her side. Rest assured it is not the end of the super friends or the community we have built here. K Vox would like to put in her vote for an appearance of Krypto the super dog. This is your eye in sky Green Butterfly along with Silver Vox and K Vox wishing you a safe, healthy and happy holiday season.
Here’s The Silver Vox’s List too!
- William and Andrea leave. Quickly.
- Alex finds family happiness with a child and Kelly, Sam?
- J’onn and M’Gann restart Martian society and Brainy/Nia settle down
- We get more of the Alex/Jeremiah dynamic
- SuperCorp becomes a real force for good taking down the big bad of the Season
- We leave the series with the words “And the Adventures Continue…”

Some blog post comments…
Awe to the banner; HEART OF THE SHOW!!!
“What would you suggest if you were in the writers room?” – DO BETTER! You know what guys, were just going to act like season five never happened; pull out your note pads, were going to just rewrite the last two years even. Yes that’s right Robert and Jessica I saw “Falling” I know you can do better so alternate season four will be our season six. Someone get Odette on the phone! *or something to this effect ;)*
“What are your hopes and dreams for our Maid of Steel?” – that it’s remembered as one of the best fandom groups out there because it is. That we can all stay in contact post series; I don’t want to let you guys go!
“I want her to have a family in season six.” – I feel like they would be doing it just because it’s the last season though and that would feel kind of cheap. If they’re going to give her a kid my think is don’t think that sidelines her; she can be in the field still and have a kid! Season six has so much pressure on it as is I’m kind of ok with them saving this for the Alex spinoff which again COME ON ALREADY WITH THAT CW!
“Not sure if Kara will find romantic love in season six” – this is another they don’t need to rush; Alex is her OTP so we don’t really need a romance for her on the series. Save that reveal for when she’s on the Alex spin off. 🙂
“1. William and Andrea leave. Quickly!” – I disagree about Andrea as she was one of the only watchable aspects of season five to me, but William yeah let’s not mention him EVER again!
“2. Alex finds family happiness with a child and Kelly, Sam?” – #AgentArias! Sorry Kelly/Alex shippers but they never treated Kelly right in season five so we don’t know her much and I can’t get over the feeling of them feeling like a replacement James and Kara so while I’d love them to stay friends I personally can’t really hyped by the pairing.
I 100% agree with number 4!!! I only 50% agree with number 3 because while it will end with M’gann I’m an Eliza/J’onn fan. 🙂
You’re coming back the 12th? Yay! Not a bad wait but still too long. ;p
On to the podcast…
Every “Star Wars” fan just tuned out at the Life Day mention. Ha.
Monty! 🙁
I just got even more excited for “Midvale II”! I do hope Chyler directing the episode doesn’t mean it’s a strictly young Alex episode because I want my girl older Alex always in episodes too for a good chunk of them. 🙂
If any superhero show was built for a happy ending it’s “Supergirl”! In terms of people becoming new characters however, no to that for Chyler because I want her as Alex for almost ever; I am not going to let Alex go! 🙂 #AlexSpinoff
No! No, no, no t more bullcrao love triangle drama with Mon and Irma and Kara; let that stay out there lunch forever with William!
Oh John I just had the cutest Agent Arias image – Alex has support with the kid because Sam has been a mom for as old as Ruby would be at the time and Sam finally gets support because she’s been single mom Sam for so long it would be nice for her to have that backup if you will…they’re just so adorable together. 🙂 Bonus imagine the the “Incredibles” scene wth Frozone but with them – Alex: “Honey, where is my black DEO polo?” Sam: “Why do you need it?!”. Ha. Also seriously just think of the good drama you could have with the Alex spin off with them as the couple, you have one spouse kind of in charge of the other while at work and the drama that can bring into the home and you can do “what’s it like to be married to a super?” with the surprise (for those who don’t know Alex) of it’s actually the human who’s more the action hero then the one with powers. Alex and Sam…it’s a good choice I’m telling you! 🙂
“Alex continuing on as the DEO director…” – H*LL YEAH Daryl!!! Again we have been waiting five years for this, let’s see the payoff; yes she’s held the title for a bit but we still have yet to see her make and live with the choices as the head of the organization. Haley was over her in season four, she quit for dumb plot reasons in season five, and season three J’onn was still there so we have yet to still see Director Danvers really and I know I want to see it and clearly so do other fans.
“I would like to see Lena get thanked…” – agreed!
1000% AGREE; burn Alex’s “suit”, along with James’s Guardian shield and suit, and let’s NEVER speak of it again!!! #NOTALLHEROESWEARCAPES
No John, you sadly remember it correctly – Alex quit because plot in season five. Season five is just full of hot garbage sadly. 🙁
“I can bend math.” – science nitpick him Justina! 🙂
Again I totally feel like Alex saw Jeremiah as her buddy and one support when Kara came; I feel he let her get away with things Eliza later didn’t and so she more so has this perfect image of him in her mind than he really was and so she misses that but even if she knew it wasn’t real she would still miss that support he gave her because again as a single mom Eliza couldn’t always be there for her like maybe she was in the past. We know Alex is even holding on to images of what could be if he returned and was good and she would have that happy family back and so it’s a lot she’s put into this man regardless if he can be it or not (he most likely can’t as he’s only a person) and so yeah it would just be nice to see more on them and what’s Alex’s memories and what’s reality exactly and how do they mix together.
You heard him CW, let’s help John lose his mind live on air; it would be a treat for everyone. 🙂
Oh my gosh, imagine – Greg Rucka writing a “Supergirl” episode; ooh let him write the Alex spinoff!
Ugh Geoff I agree, the “rift” between Kara and Lena was such bull! 😡
What makes me sad about a possible adoption plot is I think we’ll just see the happy version if you will because there’s not a lot of time left; if we had multiple seasons still we would see the realism of her being shut down because she’s a single parent possibly or because her job is dangerous and sadly someone will say no because she’s gay because sadly those foolish people do exist and those are important elements to show but because there’s only 20 left I do think if they go there it will be a real quick comment or resolution so I kind of am okay with them not touching on it in the final season. Again save it for the spin off! 🙂
I’m going to skip 3A Leslie, I’m going to be real with you because unless you’re keeping Sam’s set up in that I don’t care; you said Mon so you should be shocked I’m out. Ha. I am for an alternate season four again when Kara actually trains Sam and we get some good stuff with her and Kara’s heroics versus what Sam sees as heroic, again don’t be scared of anti heroes writers, plus we delve more into Sam/Alex because that was thing that happened in season 3 a we all heard Sam call for Alex when Lena was testing her and lollipop eye s*x is never to be forgotten! 🙂
“The season should focus on the Danvers sisters and Supergirl” – agreed; seconded! Also YYYEEESSS to Leslie returning!!! 😀 Disagree about Winn being funny. Also STRONG disagree about Kara/Mon!
I can’t fully commit to Maggie/Alex, sorry Sanvers fans but the shadow of Kate Kane looms large! I feel for Azie and Chyler, they’re trying so hard but Kelly and Alex just aren’t holding attention; I feel this is in part due to the fact their relationship now is just all physical and that’s only so fulfilling as a fan. Also there is the sad fact they feel like a replacement James/Kara and that’s not fair to them true but you can’t help as a fan sometimes seeing it that way given how poorly James/Kara was handled. Also they have taken Kelly and turned her into just a plot character of the week and that’s a disservice to her. I know we really don’t know what Sam/Alex would be like or if Sam would even want to date Alex or vice versus honestly but for me I ship them much easier because Sam feels like an honest character instead of whatever they need her to do that week and we got to know her as a person not just Lena’s former friend like they have Kelly only talk about James sometimes instead of herself. Also it’s still weird on a series where the sisters are the focus of the show James never mentioned his until season four so I have issues with how they’ve handled Kelly which effects my care for that relationship I’ll be honest.
Laura will always be the twins to me! Also you know Red Daughter would totally fight Kara over who loves Alex the most. 🙂 Alex being inducted into the House of El…❤️❤️❤️!
YES to Kara saying in the present; I agree Leslie I don’t want her to be in the future, she can inspire the Legion without actually being there. As for her being the CEO of CatCo, she can’t even handle being a reporter for the paper much less running it! Again I say Kara should have been a promotions manager for the newspaper instead and then I might buy a step like that for her.
I ❤️ your last wish Leslie! 😀
Kara would be awesome at marketing.
Cream of the crop is writing quality because everything steams from it; season one quality or better and we should be good!
“We’re going to keep it a secret!” – aka we don’t know which we want to talk about yet. ;p
😭😭😭😭😭 No more “Supergirl”, no more Maid Of Steel, and potentially no more Alex Danvers. I can’t do it! I need the joy in my life!
I am back for Christmas Break. It has been a HORRIBLE two months; complete with casualties and one major accident. Nature of the work I do. Suffice to say, that I will be glad later this week to discuss Supergirl as a welcome upbeat from the horror. If you believe in Murphy, well…
“Whatever can go wrong has gone wrong.”
Monty
WELCOME BACK Monty!!! 😀 *hug*
Where do you want to start discussing? 🙂
How about my 10 things to do for a successful Season 6?
1. Get Lex (Jon Cryer) moved over to that loser Superman and Lois show?
2. Sam Arias needs a return engagement, now that Odette Annable’s project has been zeroed out. Make her part of Samex. Don’t forget Ruby because Sam and Alex need a problem to start their new TV spin-off series together.
3. For all the Mon-el Railroad haters out there; at least Chris Wood and Melissa Benoist have chemistry. Let him have a part of Season 6.
4. M’Gann Morzz and J’onn J’onzz have been uncle and niece in the DC canon, so Martian Adam and Eve is like Noah and his daughters. Squick to the sick.
5. Kill Bill Volume 3. If you need to ask then you are not a Supergirl or Quentin Tarentino fan.
6. Acrata needs to spin-off with Sam and Alex. Part of the starter villain kit.
7. Lena needs to become the “Hero in Residence” of National City.
8. President Cat. If the political is still going to be a thing, then go ALL IN.
9. Leviathan is replaced early with Crisis of the Future. I’m working on that idea… see 10.
10. The Legion of Super Heroes (Glorith Version) needs a hero to fight Glorith the sorceress supreme of the 31st Century and the only one who fits the bill is the greatest hero of The Age of Heroes…
Supergirl.
Monty
I’m very much pro number one! I never wanted Lex on the series to start with and certainly I think he’s been around too long so if they just don’t mention him or Leviathan all season, or William because that’s a bigger mistake than even Lex, I’m good with that. Jon Cryer did a good job as the character don’t get me wrong, but we have plenty of villains on the series, one already named Luthor with Lillian, so we don’t need him taking up more screen time.
*whispers* I love you Monty. 🙂 You are going to get NO argument from me either on your second suggestion because one yes to Agent Arias, two yes to an Alex spin off featuring Agent Arias, and three yes to Sam because oh my gosh there’s still so much to do with her! She brings in play things for “Supergirl” and the hero world at large as topics for discussions such as for example is someone wrong to say no to helping in a situation because they have other responsibilities to think about – yes Sam is almost indestructible (she still has powers so I stand by this statement) but she’s also still a single parent (until she officially hooks up with Alex) so is she any less heroic for picking to protect Ruby at times when she knows Kara can handle the situation or feels Kara and the team can do it? Does she have to help EVERY time to be a hero in some’s eyes or can she just pitch in during emergencies only? Also Sam gives us Lena backstory content so there’s that aspect also; in conclusion: more Sam!
“For all the Mon-el Railroad haters out there” – waves proudly 👋😁. I’ll let him be in season six when he plays someone besides Mon El; do not bring that problem back on the series please! I submit recasting him as Adam Foster because OTP romance wise for Kara; I look forward to our debate John. 🙂
As an Eliza/J’onn shipper I would love to see him not with M’gann, but honestly it’s one of the least annoying things on the series so when they get together I won’t mind.
“Acrata needs to spin-off with Sam and Alex. Part of the starter villain kit.” – they’d have to de sympathize Andrea first because she’s kind of too sympathetic currently to be a real villain. Maxwell Lord – now that’s Alex’s nemesis! 🙂 With him on the spin off maybe we’d finally get some answers on what’s up with Bizzaro and the Omegahedron.
I can support 7 and 8.

Unfortunately I do not see any way to jettison the storylines that does not involve a 3-4 episode wrap-up. We are stuck with William, “I cannot act” (Staz Nair)”, Lex, “I can act” (Jon Cryer), but I want to chew scenery instead. That goofball actor (Mitch Pileggi) who plays Rama Khan’t Shamalangadingdong and that equally lugubriously lummoxy Cara Buone as Gemennae Gesundheit will still pollute the scenery, too.

One has to figure that the major accomplishment of this TV series, is to take comic book source material and actually create a TV character, that surpasses the comic book source material. Whatever one can write negatively about Andrew Kreisberg, and believe it, he was properly disconnected from this and other Berlanti projects, because of certain unacceptable incidents in which he was a featured player, one can credit him with Sam. He took MacBeth, the Three Witches of MacBeth, and the Juru myths of Krypton in DC cannon: he grafted all of it onto the 2 Mikes Worldkiller space-pirate from their comic run, and turned Sam into the best original Supergirl character aside from Alex on the series.
https://villains.fandom.com/wiki/Reign_(Supergirl)
That creation and Odette Annable’s performance was the seeds of a great recurring character and forms the foundation for a series based on that character. Call Sam a Rhoda to Supergirl’s Mary Tyler Moore?

Adam Foster (Blake Jenner is the actor.) was as disagreeable to me as the “humane being” (Sarcasm.) who played him.
https://dlisted.com/2020/10/09/blake-jenner-admits-to-being-physically-abusive-during-his-toxic-relationship-with-melissa-benoist/
I have no use for either. Mon-el Railroad can be the little brother role to Kara in the Season 6 wrap-up. Use Amy Irving as Saturn Girl as the pad to insulate the space. That should handle the objections to SG/ME round 2.
——————————————————————————-
M’gann/J’onn squick.
**********************************************
As an Eliza/J’onn shipper I would love to see him not with M’gann, but honestly it’s one of the least annoying things on the series so when they get together I won’t mind.

I would like M’gann to remain on character bible. Her hookup is with Superboy, not her uncle.

Acrata is an anti-villain. Let her operate that way.
Max is a winner as well as a wiener.

I can support 7 and 8.
Inasmuch as I have no clue how to make either actually work, okay? I mean I can write a story for it, but it involves Lena taking over the DEO to fix Lex’s mistakes and Cat finally saying that enough is enough and someone competent has to take overall charge of things after President Durlan Liar, and President A-hat have goofed everything up. Besides, Lena has to get to play with Claymore.
Addenda: Hope (er Eve Teschmacher) (Portrayed by Andrea Brooks) can be a boomerang plot thread for the Lena character.

=== I want these actors off the show for the following reasons.
a. Jon Cryer actually does not act a character. He displays a caricature of a villain type that is stereotypical. There is no story embedded reason for his interpretation, nor is there any subtlety to enjoy in his broad Lex portrayal. After some exposure, “mustache twirling” can be boring.
b. I want Staz Nair off the show. He cannot even pretend to act. His “Q” is so far into the negative scale that it might be safe to speculate that a cardboard cutout picture of him would be a better use of camera time and scene space. The show’s principles can throw darts at it for comedy relief.
c. Mitch Pileggi as Rhama Khan’t Shamalangadingdong is almost as terrible as Staz Nair for about much the same reasons.
d. Cara Buono as Gemmenae Gesundheit is the third member of the cannot act trio. Cleavage is no substitute for acting technique. She has got to go.

f. Can a story be crafted for a one episode “pilot” embedded into Supergirl Season Six?
g. Will the suggestions of a Max Lord and Acrata load out as starter villains be accepted?
h. Will this kind of “family” fly as the series core story. Alex, Sam and Ruby is not; “My Two Dads”. We, should have, I hope, grown beyond that crap.

i. I did not like Adam Foster as a character.
j. Blake Jenner was the intense negative Q reason for i.
k. And I prefer Mon-el Railroad for Chris Wood, because the character has evolved over time and has earned the right to be on the show for story and character reasons.
l. I want to see Irma Ardeen again and Amy Jackson is the reason and Chris Wood is the excuse. Mon-el Railroad is the ticket.

n. To de-sympathize Acrata (Andrea Rojas as played by Julie Gonzalo) one only needs to re-establish that her corporation, Obsidian North, has been the instrument and means for Leviathan to enslave the human species. (Myriad 5.0 if one is keeping score on recycled Derek Simon plots.). She is functionally complicit and a story of the government going after her (Cat Grant’s first act as president.) under a RICO indictment equals instant villaintude… again.
o. Makes Acrata a natural ally of Max. (See n. for why.)

q. All in, means that there must be a reason for President Cat Grant. Andrea Rojas and Max Lord is the story reason.

Since the show coda is “exit Supergirl” I wanted an appropriate send-off and story-wise it should be obvious that bit will be the Legion of Super Heroes that calls for her. It is the pay-off for all of the prep work and the inclusion of the Legion in Supergirl’s hero journey.
Now does one see why Mon-el Railroad has to be in season six?
Monty
I think Odette is going to be in the “Walker: Texas Ranger” remake but we could get her on. Also they did the whole back door pilot for “Green Arrow & The Canaries” on “Arrow” so it’s possible; I realize that felt out of place given the situation with Oliver and how fans wanted as much time with him as they could get, but there needs to be a set up episode anyways for Alex’s spin off so why not involve Sam? I never saw “My Two Dads” so I don’t get the reference fully Monty.
Okay if you really just want Irma back I could take that, maybe she can give Leslie a lift back to Earth as well as – LIVEWIRE IS NOT DEAD; I just want it clear that she and Mon are together because again do not try to put Kara with him, that is a bad match for everyone!
“Makes Acrata a natural ally of Max.” – this statement is giving me WW84 feelings. 🙂 No spoilers for those who haven’t seen the film yet!
“Now does one see why Mon-el Railroad has to be in season six?” – you can have the Legion without Mon in just saying. 🙂 I will give him 10 minutes total screen time in one episode of the season at best.
“and turned Sam into the best original Supergirl character aside from Alex on the series.” – can she be an original if she has a comic book source? I’d say Alex is the only original still. I do agree, after Alex Sam is probably my favorite character; Leslie of course is in the top 3 also because how can you not enjoy Livewire when she shows up? 🙂

The Sam on the series only shares the name with the space pirate mike Greene and Mike Johnson invented. The closest precursor character to Sam Arias in the Supergirl villain lexicon I can find is this villain;
Superwoman: https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Lucy_Lane_(New_Earth)
Something just feels weird about taking from Lucy’s potential plots but at the same time Superwoman is SO sometbing Sam would call herself if she embraced her hero side because Ruby loves Supergirl but you can’t have two of those so Sam would go woman. Which in turn would kind of probably do a callback debate to girl versus woman for a female hero and that would kind of be nice but hopefully not last too long because Cat made a great point about girl versus woman in season one. Sam would of course be a heroic Superwoman instead.
Oh my gosh let Odette come back for the final season writers even if it’s just for one episode! If nothing else can we get a mention please! #SamStillHasPowers also. 🙂
John’s pitch obsession is “Midvale II” with Alex and Jeremiah and so mine will be “Let me tell you all the ways Sam needs to come back/the alternate season four pitch”. Ha.

If that is to be believed, then It is going to REIGN on Supergirl’s parade in Season 6.

Whether or not one believes this “speculation”, I would not put it past Derek Simon, to take the character down with him.

I don’t see why you would kill Kara, that just feels SO insulting; I could see them doing a fake out where she dies in this time but the show itself ends with her waking up in the 31st century if they want to do that but to kill her full out…no.
That said it would totally set up the anti hero Alex path without question because can you imagine her without Kara? Oh the rage! Also using Sam to do it when they know everyone wants her redeemed…that would just be bad and so hopefully it’s just a weird rumor.
Now THAT said if they bring back Sam I’m for that, especially with powers; they can save her again but she keeps the powers so she can be the “muscle” if you will in the Alex spin off and we have Alex/Sam in it because I love Alex and Kelly as friends but a romance, I’m sorry but all i can see with them is a make up for James and Kara. Maybe if they had done more with Kelly it would be one thing but they’ve really done nothing to build her as her own person so I’m like – your nice but you’re not as interesting as others. It’s a shame too because Azie does the part well and Kelly could have been a big part helping to explore the characters as a shrink but they’d rather her wave around a metal shield than deal out helpful advice which this group could so use!

After Season 4 and 5, never say “never” with the writers’ bullpen on this show. They could easily go that route, because to them, it seems “edgy” and topical. How many times have we seen their product go exactly down the wrong path or ridiculously unimaginatively take the “alien invaders use mind control” on humans or human hate groups go after alien immigrants story line to wank the pretended “relevant” social message the writers lectured us with instead of taught us through entertainment?
I can see the “message” in the kill the hero meme now. “We’ll Martin Luthor King” her.” GRRR.

See my previous comment. There are a lot of pretend Oliver Stones in that bull-pen.

Florianna Lima 4.0 has got to go. If one needs a hero’s death, (Writing out Staz Nair is just removing a prop that is not working.). Make Azie the social message vehicle and meme. And make it about something that is actual and true to the show’s core themes and story. That love is stronger than hate and that hope is stronger than despair.
How that works is have Agent Liberty Liberty break jail and go on a roaring rampage of revenge and in the backwash, the Kelly character is written off the show. Alex (Chyler) has her own roaring rampage of revenge cycle and Samantha Arias (Odette) comes in to “save” her, because “She” has been through it already and knows the path of forgiveness.
THAT is how one writes the B story for season 6 to parallel the Supergirl joins the Legion A story.
“After Season 4 and 5, never say “never” with the writers’ bullpen on this show.” – fair. 🙁
They did the whole “look we killed a lead” with Oliver and to kill Kara when they just brought in Clark…I wouldn’t recommend that.
Okay look I’m just going to be honest, I fan squealed with glee when you proposed the idea of Sam “saving” Alex from her dark side. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’m an easy shipper for Agent Arias. 🙂 I don’t want Kelly to be killed off though to make that happen because that’s also problematic; Alex is dark enough she doesn’t need someone dying to add to that. Also I would I like to know just how much was Sam and how much was Reign because they acted like Reign took over and Sam was a bystander at times even though I agree I think some of Sam’s anger at things like Morgan Edge freed Reign into popping out at times so some clarity would need to be done there. Let them write out Kelly the same way they did Maggie where she and Alex just simply have a disagreement about something to where they’re friends but not a couple or maybe Kelly gets a job Alex can’t follow her too (because she has to run the DEO in the spin off she needs to have – what is taking so long to announce that CW?! Are you waiting until after “Supergirl” ends? Don’t let Chyler and Alex go!) and this you have the opening for Sam, but don’t kill off Kelly. You could even have Kelly see something happen to Alex that scares her and gives her flashbacks to her former love and she just can’t do that again but she knows Alex can’t stop being the solider she is (because let’s not let the writers think Alex can stop being a government worker because NO RETIRING Alex YET) so she has to walk away but would like to stay friends – everyone is alive in this, Kelly and Alex are friends, and we get Agent Arias aka Alex/Sam…check! 🙂
