It’s over! What do you mean it’s over? What just happened here? Is the timeline reset? There has to be consequences to time travel! Does the headless horseman now have a head? Why was Abbie’s trip into the past wrapped up so quickly? What will the dynamic of the show be like if two major cast members are really gone? There are so many questions. How will I make it to next fall?
What! You don’t know what I’m talking about! Oh man! You missed a wild ride. There was a Frankenstein monster, a tortured spirit, a succubus and a wendigo just to name a few. Did I mention there was a demon baby? Katrina was impregnated by a demon. The horseman’s main objective at the beginning of the season was to assist Moloch to be reborn.
Ichabod has become more comfortable with life in the current century. His struggle now is a family one. His marriage is strained by time apart and differences of opinion. His son has chosen an evil path. As a witness Ichabod is caught between responsibility of destiny and family. Do you watch your favorite shows to enjoy the relationships between the characters? Season two offers two love triangles and some funny jealous moments.
Did you give up on Sleepy Hollow? Now is the perfect time to catch up. Trust me you don’t want to miss this. Take a twisted ride through history with three US presidents and a Greek legend. This season was not perfect but it had perfect episodes. There are some threads that were left hanging. I was so excited to get 18 episodes this year. Maybe 18 was too many or perhaps they needed 22 to wrap up the story better. Either way these master storytellers have kept me interested and wanting more.
I give this season a B+. If you binge watch to catch up you won’t even notice the slow episodes because there are only a few. They are overshadowed by the episodes that are exceptional. All episodes of Sleepy Hollow are currently available on Hulu Plus. Do you want to add to the fun? Listen to Witness Prophecies here on Golden Spiral Media with each episode of season 2. Karen and Jamie are awesome! Listen to all the theories as they evolve. Did the writers prove them right or wrong? Listen and find out. You won’t be disappointed. I gave you my season rating. Feel free to leave yours below in the comments section. Take care of yourself over the summer and beware of blood contracts.

Really disliked the second last episode to the point of dropping the show. To carry the Katrina character for that long and then have her turn into a bad guy so she can start up a coven of witches was ridiculous.
So no I do not want a third season. The show has irreparably harmed itself and with the showrunner no longer involved let Sleepy Hollow stay at rest.
I would like to see a Season 3. I too had issues with this season, but I feel the positives outweigh the negatives. I personally didn’t have a problem with Katrina turning evil – I thought they built up the storyline with her son enough to justify this based on the the idea that a mother would do anything for her son (see the wonderful Bates Motel for a better exploration of this theme). I hate to say it, but the main problem I had with this season was the character of Jeremy/Henry. Don’t get me wrong, John Noble was great and did the best he could with what he was given. I just think it was wrong to make Ichabod and Katrina’s son so old. I think the believability would have been better if he had only aged to, let’s say, a teenager. I feel so much of the “betrayed son” story and the parent’s dilemma would have felt more genuine if the son was still younger than the parents. Another issue I had with this season was the underuse of Orlando Jones. I think they had an interesting idea in making him an unwilling servant to Henry, but they didn’t exploit it to its full potential.
However, let me point out the positive things about this season and why they should continue. Tom Mison is tippy-top on my list. His Ichabod was such a pleasure to watch from week to week. The fish-out-of-water trope has been done to death but Tom Mison nailed it perfectly, week after week, making it fresh (for me, at least). All the crazy historical references are also why I keep coming back. Sure, it’s preposterous that one man would have been so entwined in every major event and personally knew every famous historical person of that era, but this is fantasy, after all, and the historical references are something that keep this high-fantasy show grounded. Last of all, the chemistry. Now, I am not going to get into a should-they-or-shouldn’t-they shipping debate here. I just mean that Ichabod and Abbie have something special together. Whether that just stays in buddy-cop territory or if they bring a new element in (now that Katrina is gone) doesn’t really matter to me. The two of them onscreen together is fun in any case.
I give Season 2 a solid B grade. So, I will be keeping my fingers crossed for another season. And if not, I hope Tom Mison gets picked up by another show quick!
