While the Maniax are on the loose, Jim & Harvey are out to find them by any means. Meanwhile Gotham’s best an brightest are at the hospital gala looking to be entertained by a magician. Instead of pulling a rabbit out of the hat, the Joker pulls chaos out of his. Jerome has taken the place of the magician and Barbara is his assistant. They quickly capture the crowd, kill off the deputy mayor, tie Leslie to the throwing-knife wheel and seek out Bruce to hold him hostage. Like the best magicians do, the best trick is saved for last. But who will get the last laugh? Join Karen & Geoff as they discuss it all.
Barbara and Tigress have gotten really close and Tigress seems to claim Barbara in front of her brother. Her brother seems somewhat pleased that Tigress has a friend. Tigress and Jerome head of to Jerome’s dad’s house. It seems that Jerome is going to kill off Paul and in the process frame him for the Maniax break out of Arkham. Maps, letters, and knockout gas containers are all set up to convince the cops. But Jerome’s dad proclaims a curse on Jerome. “You will be a curse upon Gotham. Children will wake from sleep screaming at the thought of you. Your legacy will be death and madness.” It seems that this prophecy is fulfilled at the end of the episode folks are laughing with Jerome’s laugh and committing violence. It seems the legacy of the Joker lives on.
Jim & Harvey are trying to find the Maniax and get to the apartment but not before Paul is killed. Harvey is knocked out and Jim dazed by the gas. Jim is almost shot by Jerome but Tigress knocks him out instead. Later Jim & Harvey are recovering at the station. Jim is determined to stay on the job and Harvey knows better than to talk him out of it. Jim is then summoned by Leslie to the gala.
Jerome & Barbara have become the magician and assistant. They are playing Theo’s plans to a T. Jerome has the audience spellbound with his magic. He then kills the deputy mayor and frees a path for the Court of Owls to take over. Jerome now channels Jim Cagney’s gangster stick and takes control with gunfire and goons. Jerome gets to Bruce through Alfred and now has all the hostages he needs. Theo rises up to be come the hero for Gotham and kills Jerome. Theo once again proves to the the chess master. Killing off pawns and knights alike to advance himself as king. He wants to see his family get the recognition it deserves and no one is going to stand in his way. Does Barbara know she will be sacrificed after she takes out Jim? Will Theo have the last laugh? We’ll just have to tune in next time to find out!
