“The Giggle” is the third and final episode of the Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials. “The Giggle” is a fast paced tour de force of superb acting, masterful storytelling, and sheer glee. “The Giggle” is a story that finally brings peace to an epic war torn hero while delivering hope for the future, needed life lessons, and the Spice Girls. I mean come on. Who could ask for anything more.

In this final of the 60th anniversary specials we are treated to a story that breaks all the rules in a ruleless narrative. David Tennant and Catherine Tate end their respective roles as the Doctor and Donna in an utterly RTD fashion taken to the next level. With Neil Patrick Harris as the returning villain known as The Toymaker, we are set on an adventure that sees Gods toppled, immortals finally rested and a new era of adventures begun.

The giggle of a mysterious puppet is driving the human race insane. When the Doctor discovers the return of the terrifying Toymaker, he faces a fight he can never win. The Toymaker returns to challenge the Doctor. In doing so he sets into motion events that will forever change the fabric of the Whoniverse. Pitting himself against the Doctor, he is met by not only the Doctor but Donna, Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, U.N.I.T., Mel Bush, and much to everyone’s surprise, the 15th Doctor as well. This madcap tale of new beginnings and well deserved endings is one that Whovians are not likely to forget for quite some time.

As usual, we review what was liked and not so liked about the episode, discuss listener feedback and go over unanswered questions and share fan theories. Remember, don’t blink, don’t even blink.
