I imagine it’ll come as no surprise when I say how much I dug this episode. Of Grodd, Barry said “He’s evolving.” Dang right he is. More than any episode to date, we’re finally seeing Grodd go from being a sympathetic, tortured beast to a ruthless conqueror. Conqueror Grodd is my favorite Grodd, the Grodd of the comics, who looks down on humans as moronic neanderthals in no way equal to his mighty Apeness.

Great Apes!
We got to see it….to REALLY see it. Sure, we had a brief glimpse last season, but this time, we got to see Gorilla City in all it’s primeval glory! Those familiar w/ the comics know that this secret society of super-apes is a staple of the DCU. Sure, the comic version had an outer-space aspect, and was surrounded by a cloaking field keeping it hidden from puny humans, but the real selling point was always the apes.

So he’s…not so much a scientist as an…author? He’s a goofball with a heart of gold and really not much to offer Team Flash? I gotta admit, I’m not without my concerns. I’m a tad bit uncertain about the whole “revolving-door-of-Harrys” Not that Tom Cavanaugh isn’t up to the task. If you told me he’d be playing a 14-year-old Russian ballerina, I’d say “Yeah, I can see it.” I just don’t know what the point is beyond keeping him on the show, and I guess that just isn’t enough for me.
