Thank you for catching this transmission of Central City Underground! We apologize to The Rising Tide for hijacking over their hijack, but some things just can’t be helped. We had a really good purpose for doing so, though! There was a new episode of The Flash on The CW this Tuesday, and Mr. The Shadow and Miss Ice (that’s me) really needed to talk about it.

From flashbacks to the night of the particle accelerator explosion to more subtle hints about Harrison Wells’ origin, this episode was packed with superhero-origin goodness. (Raise your hand if you were thinking Smoke Monster when The Mist transformed. Eh?) Kyle Nimbus, a.k.a. The Mist, becomes the first of potentially MANY villains to be locked away in the particle accelerator at S.T.A.R. Labs. Hmm. How do we feel about this?

This episode of The Flash felt like it hit a rhythm. We settled into the characters almost immediately, got to see Barry in his element and, most significantly to me, we saw a new dimension to Detective Pretty Boy. He’s still oddly optimistic most of the time, but he spoke his mind to Iris and it helped to break her out of her comfort zone and recognize that she needs to be an adult about their relationship. For starters, if she’s “crashing at his place”, she should be able to tell her dad she’s in a relationship. I have super high hopes for how this will help to mold and grow Iris’s character and respected her a great deal more by the end of the episode.

In case you didn’t hear the news, The Flash has been picked up for a FULL SEASON! That means The Shadow and I will be around for a while and we hope you’ll stick with us. We’d LOVE you to get involved with the podcast, either by helping us record the intro/outro segments or by contributing feedback. Head over to our Feedback page and shoot us a note, record a theory, or respond to some points we make during our episode discussion.

Stay cool, Central City!
