[sc:astop]Cammien Ray and Martin the Flash are back with an all-things-Russian episode, and we need drinks all around as we discuss the super highs and the super lows – featuring the return of Salty Cammie. 😉
This season Arrow will be airing on Tuesdays at 9pm ET. Our podcast episodes will be posted the following Friday, so we can accept email/voice feedback through Thursday afternoon – and maybe an early Thursday evening submission might make it in if you’re quick. 🙂

I would have enjoyed Anatoli more in this had they not messed him over in season 5 I think it was and kind of turned him into just a meh character instead of keeping him interesting like he was; much like with Siren they tainted him with the Diaz arc so it’s hard for me to ever really enjoy him like I did before. The actor still did a wonderful job but I enjoyed Anatoli more before he was involved with the Diaz debacle.
This week was a good episode, I can’t put it over Thea’s episode personally because I loved a lot of what was in that but it was good the more I think about it. I TOTALLY agree with Cammie that it would have been even better had Lyla been a part of the mission instead of Siren and thus having to deal with her double crossing them maybe and do they recognize it or not because the kids don’t know her and Oliver is too worried about them and for him it’s Lyla so why should he suspect her right then; that could have been some good drama and definitely made the reveal of her working with Monitor even more impactful when they did find out! It was nice to see them tease evil Siren again but we all knew they wouldn’t commit to it as they haven’t yet so it was ultimately hollow and thus her outting Lyla was just meh. I know Martin loved Roy back but my favorite part was probably Mia saying Nyssa trained her so she could handle herself because Nyssa. 🙂
I’m still bummed there’s such a conflicted between Mia of last season and Mia of this season; again had they started with her making mistakes but kind of lucking into winning battles last season because of backup or something that would make sense for her to need Oliver’s help with training now while she has access to him but because she seemed competent previously her needing training now doesn’t work for me. He can give her pointers but her being in awe of him breaking a thumb to escape was weak as Nyssa would have taught her that trick early on. I fear Mia will be given the same respect as Siren in that she’ll just be written however they need her from week to week instead of being a realistic feeling character; things like this are why William is my favorite of the kids by a mile.
“…I made a promise to your mother and there is not past, present, or future where I break it!” – can we just take a moment to again appreciate how well they’ve worked in Felicity each episode without having Emily there? Yes we’d love her there each week but this is some really good stand in stuff until we see her again in the final. Hopefully we’ll get a moment with her also and it won’t just be her standing in the light as it were holding out a hand for Oliver to come with her!
I feel Mia wants to know Oliver’s dark side because it makes him more real to her. Hearing he was a hero and all is nice but it doesn’t make him sound real given the world she’s use to so seeing Oliver’s imperfections actually brings her closer to him despite him thinking it pulls them apart. I get him wanting to protect her but I like her saying “No I want to see it all” in a sense because it will again be when she really knows Oliver to a degree instead of just knowing of him!
Oliver’s wigs will always be the worst.
What “Arrow” anti heroes Cammie? You have to have anti heroes before they can never die. They’ve certainly had chances to do anti heroes on this series but they always cop out and either make them the bad guy or redeem them, I have yet to see a full on anti hero on this series; actually I take that back, there’s Lyla but we don’t know what’s going to happen with the crossover and how her character will end as far as “Arrow” is concerned…still she and Nyssa if you see Nyssa as one even though she’s beginning to lean more good are recurring they aren’t main. The Arrowverse on a whole seems to have an allergy to calling characters anti heroes; Sara Lance a anti hero but is called a hero, Mick Roy – anti villain that’s called a hero, Black Siren – villain who got redeemed, I don’t watch “Flash” beyond the one season with Nora but I’m sure there’s some there like maybe Killer Frost, Alex Danvers- totally an anti hero but because she’s the sister of the hero she’s a good guy in hype, Mon was an anti hero just waiting to happen that they copped out on…I would love to see them stick to a main character anti attitude but we have yet to really get that as again they either go fully bad or good at the end of the day with the exception of Lyla Michaels. Lyla is recurring through so again it’s complex with her – she’s consistent but not a main like they could have done with Siren if they didn’t wuss out on her organic progression; you can never make up for killing Laurel in S4 writers so stop trying to make Siren someone she’s not, they are twins if you want to go the similarity route not the same person!
#AlwaysBitterOverBlackSiren!
I admit I’m not big on Roy, I don’t hate him but he’s not my favorite either, but I do like seeing Colton on – yummy! 🙂
I hope Zoe is in the spin off!
They were definitely hard on Dinah especially when you see how Renee is handled in the same season and what he did and what came of that compared to her actions and those of others previously; I still am waiting on Oliver to apologize for that even though I know we’ll never get it. It’s things like that why Oliver will never be a favorite for me. I’m definitely watching this series for people other than the main character!
Woah, HARDCORE disagree on “Supergirl” needing a new fight team! What show are y’all watching?! Have you not seen an Alex fight scene? Best fight sequences on the CW I’d say; I will give “Arrow” points this season because they finally have gotten realistic with their fights and these are the best of their series arguably along with some last season but better than “Supergirl” no! I’ll grant you watching season 5 of “Supergirl” they have done better fights over the years for some characters but they’ve always been better than “Arrow” if you ask me. Again this season, and last, of “Arrow” finally have good realistic fights but I wouldn’t trade crew; if they would like to come in and work with other teams ok but replace, not “Supergirl”‘s.
Yes to bringing back baby Sara!!!
