I’ll be honest, this was the most engaging episode one for all the seasons this year; I had some issues that kept it from being perfect but on the whole it had me stuck to the screen! I will say Cammie made a fair point on her aftershow debating was this actually an episode one or more of a continuation/just a fancy set up for Crisis; I can certainly get the vibe for fancy continuation but I also looked at it as the first episode for the final episodes and taking it back to the start is a popular move so in that regard I think it worked for the first episode of the season. It really touched all of the bases.
My favorite part of this week was definitely sassy Laurel; I will forever be bitter about how they disrespected Black Siren Laurel by forcing Black Canary Laurel’s personality and life onto her instead of letting Siren be the individual she was but it was nice to see they at least let her keep her Oliver hate because all Laurels have a fair reason to hate him – he slept with her sister…and her friend…and has treated her not the best when they are together so yeah whatever version of Laurel they’re writing now she should never stop giving him crap because of that. 🙂
Given it’s a two week break almost between parts they’re going to have to reair what’s been shown to that point just to remind fans what has happened so far in the crossover which again makes me wonder why not just do it all in one month; I know they know people will watch anyways so who cares when which parts air but still it feels weird to have such a large gap between sections. I can’t speak for everyone but I already know this is going to effect pacing for me!
NO Flash NO, don’t say horrible things like merged Earths with Barry! I know it’s October but sir there is no calls to be that scary! *sigh* I am so going to have to Barry proof National City now. For sure Alex is going because where Kara goes so goes her sister; you can’t split the Danvers sisters. Still – NO MERGING WITH Barry!
If we’re going best lines from the episode I pick Laurel saying “Oh and it’s you again.” In a displeased manner to Oliver when he showed up with Diggle at her secret bases. 🙂 Spoiler alert: I feel I’m mainly in this season for sassy Laurel, consistent Dinah Drake if she shows back up this year (she was SORELY missed last season – see the back and forth over Roy as an example of her being mishandled), and Zoe in the future scenes. I know others are into Oliver’s journey but for me I’ve always found those around him more engaging so I stand by this instead of being here for him like others; I’m also here for podcast as it’s never a let down. 🙂
I wish Oliver would have made it more about Thea on the roof with Tommy and said something like “Let’s not make Thea ashamed of her brothers” or something because I have to say his speech while good for him didn’t feel like it should have really made Tommy change his mind where as talking about Thea would have.
Is it just me or did Mia seem meh in fights this episode? I get the plan on the whole not working but still she got her butt handed to her more than someone should who’s been training for awhile. It made that moment at the end more funny to me when she told Connor they do things her way now than dramatic because it was like “You got your butt owned too so maybe William and Zoe should just do the plans from here out”.
#BringBackBabySara!!! 🙂
I want to see how/why JJ went bad.
Given there’s 100 Supermen coming into the crossover I’d say one of them will take Kara’s place because it doesn’t make sense just Oliver would equal both Kara and Barry so I can see him taking Barry’s spot and thus “Flash” playing to Barry living up to that maybe, but I think a Superman will take Kara’s place because they aren’t going to kill her. I just don’t need her to be all guilty over him because there’s enough their doing with doing Superman on “Supergirl” I don’t need extra Clark content on there. I’m there for Kara and Alex writers not you doing female Clark adventures.
They probably won’t do it, but I think it would be cool if who Oliver saw in this episode was the Anti-Monitor and when Oliver sees Monitor next time he’s going to tell him he was wrong for pulling out the dark matter because at least that way as Flash says we keep guessing about the crossover instead of everything basically being out there on it except actually seeing it played out. Them playing chess as it were with characters would be interesting so for example when people thought it was the Anti-Monitor who took Lex at the end of “Supergirl” last season maybe it was Monitor really to try and balance something Anti did already; they never said it would just be heroes versus villains essentially so why can’t some villains be in the mix for teams or even heroes who are working to save their Earth because they’ve been told Monitor is the bad guy? Again I doubt it would happen but it could be interesting.
As much as I want Emily, Fake Felicity was good. 🙂
