This season Arrow will be airing on Mondays at 9pm ET. Our podcast episodes will be posted the following Wednesday, so we can accept email/voice feedback through Tuesday afternoon – and maybe an early Tuesday evening submission might make it in if you’re quick. 🙂
You can leave feedback here.
I agree with Cammie, the last 10 minutes for sure were really good; the start was okay but not really anything to get excited by, the Olicity heavy ending with Oliver’s fate revealed is what made this episode worth caring about even a little.
I’d rather see “Arrow” start early and the crossover be the first episode of the season for the other shows (not counting “Batwoman”) so we can just get the consequences out of the way; it kind d slams on your breaks when you start one plot then have the crossover then have to factor it in on top of your unrelated season plot. Being only 10 episodes “Arrow” is going to end weird (early) in the line up anyways so why not start it early and then have the crossover be the first episode for everyone else and “Arrow” has a special episode to say goodbye for all those still watching? Honestly the best thing to do would have been to have the crossover be episode 10 for “Arrow” because if Oliver dies you don’t have to deal with a episode of fallout or that seems random to him being in another universe and feeling like a “very special episode” or to be the start of the new season and then the remaining 9 is season focused for them leading to the end but it doesn’t sound like they’re going to do that according to most so to me it just reads as messing up things which kind of puts a damper on the crossover. This isn’t to say the crossover will be bad I’m just saying it’s going to mess with pacing again this year (as well as possible storylines) and as a viewer that’s never fun.
UPDATE: https://www.tvguide.com/news/arrowverse-crossover-crisis-on-infinite-earths-five-hours/ – clearly it’s going to be the last week of December so they can go into Jan the first few days because if we have to wait a week to get the rest of the event that’s going to be really messed up. Also why does Black Lightening not have to deal with Barry’s eventual bullcrap of effecting time?! He’s on the CW too and is done by Greg and is a superhero…if everyone else has to be effected by Barry in a merger then so should he! Hopefully this is a sign they won’t merge worlds butI still feel that’s the plan long term; if it’s not hopefully “Batwoman”‘s Earth splits to join Kara’s instead of “Supergirl” having to deal with Barry messing with time. I know they say it’s because “Black Lightening” exists outside of the Arrowverse but you know who else does? “Supergirl” as we started on a whole different network; if Barry can jump to our Earth and bring the show into the Arrowverse as it were he can jump to Black Lightening’s and do the same!
Definitely agree Flash; as Cammie has said Emiko herself is not a bad villain it’s just the timing and because of trying to cram everything essentially into a highlights version she just felt really flat. She’s still better than Dragon but not a Darkh or Prometheus by any means! It’s a shame too because the actress was really good in the part.
Sorry Flash, I wasn’t a fan of the “Mark Of 4” scene because it felt to me like a waste of screen time, yes it’s nice to know the points but they could have built that up through other episodes by sprinkling in one lesson per episode that was left they didn’t have to information dump it at the end. For me it felt very heavy handed and a waste of precious seconds that could have been used on more Felicity or more Emiko to make her stuff not feel like such a bust, that was such a weak ending for her.
I’m with you Flash, I’m fine with Oliver trying to save Emiko however I disagree on her ending being well done; I’m fine with her dying just not how she did it, it felt rushed and lazy and arguably random so I wasn’t a fan, I thought she deserved better on that front. I think she had to stay evil after they burned Black Siren because that would have been too much redemption for this series. Had they done right by Black Siren and kept her evil I could have entertained an anti hero Emiko who’s not redeemed but wants it after some Oliver speech but the way things were at that point in the series she had to stay the bad guy fully to me.
Unsurprisingly I hated Black Siren being involved. #AlwaysBitter! The return of Curtis made it feel even more like the series final we joke it is…maybe it’s because we know too much as it were (we know the end is coming) so any fan service moment is made bigger than if we just saw this as a season finale.
I’m not happy with Oliver’s ending in the sense he dies after getting a hot second of happiness but I did love that scene with the cave closing down and then him moving on with Felicity, honestly I don’t know how they’ll top that because that was such a perfect series final moment (especially in the cave)…I doubt they will top it which makes me think his final ending will be unsatisfying even more so.
“a hero’s story usually ends in sacrifice” – and I find that boring now Flash; I think you can still argue it for Oliver because of the character he was but this is why I’m in part so angry about Laurel’s exit, death does not have to be the only end for a hero – you can retire it’s okay you aren’t less of a hero for it and anyone who says you are should spend your years doing the job and see how they feel at the end (some will quit before time is up). To me the real twist would have been if Oliver lived and the Monitor just said he had to leave now so he’ll miss Mia’s life in a sense but he can return for some of it because angst isn’t the only way to make drama. Again as you say Flash the ending is ok for Oliver but I also get people who say it’s cliche.
The Ninth Circle was non existent.
Having seen Oliver-Barry some this season on “Flash” I am definitely team Iris tell Barry not to be Oliver because Oliver-Barry is a jerk!
Awe to Cammie and Flash at the end, now hug you two! 🙂
