Welcome back, Arrow Squad! It feels good to have our show back, doesn’t it? The media-pandering cliff-hanger, the likes of which have now become so common in television, not withstanding, Arrow is back with its usual butt-kicking, bad-guy hunting, angst-filled superhero gang down one significant member. Nevertheless, we’re back talking about Season 4 Episode 10 “Blood Debts”, which originally aired on January 20, 2016. Read more…

Crossovers have to be one of the greatest aspects to television. What better way to make a story arc exciting than to show just how big the universe our characters live in is? We really hope you had a chance to catch up on enough of The Flash in order to get a full dose of this crossover awesomeness, but in case you didn’t, we decided to team up with Tony and Joe from Central City Underground, our resident Flash podcast, to chat about this season’s two-night event! In this episode we discuss The Flash, Season 2 Episode 8 “Legends of Today”, and Arrow, Season 4 Episode 8 “Legends of Yesterday”. These episodes originally aired on December 1 and 2, respectively. What’s up Arrow Squad?! You may be wondering what this new episode is doing in your feed, so let me assure you, we had a good reason for releasing this in Arrow’s off week. The Shadow and I (Miss Ice) attended the Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in San Jose, CA over the weekend of November 21 & 22, the first of what we hope to be many like-conventions. This installment is a live recording we did on Saturday night after the festivities ended for the day. Included at the end of this blog post is a photo gallery, so don’t miss that. Read more…

Welcome back to ARROW SQUAD! The Shadow and Podcast Overlord are kickin’ it old school in this week’s podcast because I (Miss Ice) have a super secret mission that has unfortunately detained me in a location that makes it impossible to record with them. I have full confidence that my comrades can carry the load. After all, they were doing this long before I arrived! This week’s topic of discussion is Arrow Season 4 Episode 5 “Haunted”, which originally aired on November 4, 2015 and guest starred the lovely Matt Ryan as John Constantine.
As I have not had an opportunity to discuss Arrow as I usually do, I am bursting with things to say. I want to talk about so many things with Kevin and Brian, but I’m going to have to be satisfied with listening instead. In this blog post I want to briefly touch on a few things that I noticed and hope that it supplements the discussion the guys had. Read more…

AS 68 – S4E4 – Beyond Redemption Review

Hey Arrow Squad! This week, myself (Miss Ice) and The Shadow are joined by The Wonder Twins (Harley Quinn and The Flash) in light of Podcast Overlord’s super secret mission taking him out of town. Yes, it takes two people to fill the Overlord’s shoes! We missed him, but had a blast chatting with Jess and Martin about Arrow season 4 episode 4, “Beyond Redemption.”
There is something about the fourth episode of many seasons that I just love. The fourth episode of basically every season of Fringe is spectacular; season 1 episode 4 of Lost is “Walkabout”, in which we get our first look into the life of John Locke. I would go on, but the particulars aren’t important, it’s just something about the placement of the episode within a season that gives the story an extra kick. Nearly everything about this episode worked for me.
Let’s start with this scene, shall we? To the right you’ll see a screen capture from the moment the team gets into the lift to be brought down to the new Team Arrow HQ. I thought this picture perfectly encapsulated the characterizations of each woman. Thea’s excited, Felicity is overwhelmed, and Laurel is unimpressed. It was hilarious. Read more…

AS 67 – S4E3 – Restoration Review

Greetings Arrow Squad! Thank you for joining the discussion of Arrow Season 4 Episode 3 “Restoration”! What an episode indeed, one that utilized its title very well and in many ways. Were you surprised at how quickly they resurrected Sara? It came as a surprise to me.
Yes… I’m Going to Speculate Here….
We’ve been talking for over a year about Laurel’s character journey. From the tumult of season 2 to the rebuilding of season 3, Laurel’s character has been through the wringer… and it’s most certainly been for the best. But I am having a bit of trouble placing her desperation for resurrecting her sister within the paradigm the character has established of late. Podcast Overlord brings up the very valid point that Laurel has this tendency toward focal obsessions, such as with her alcoholism, and so her fixation on bringing Sara back isn’t completely unfounded.
