Agents of SHIELD Season 5 Episode 13 Review: “Principia”
While “Principia” may be a set-up episode of Agents of SHIELD, the search for CyberTek is a rousing adventure to find a solution to the fear dimension rift, Elena’s missing arms, and perhaps even Coulson’s fatal condition. Can gravitonium and cybernetic parts fix all of their problems before General Hale finishes her team of… whatever it is she’s doing?
Join us for show news, commentary and analysis for “Principia,” Faith’s CoulSass moments, and our listener feedback segment! This week we talk about Ruby’s robotic nature, Alex Braun’s newfound powers, Deke’s unwitting grandpa jokes, Fitz’s short-tempered manner, Elena’s understandable despondence, and Daisy and May’s refusal to accept Coulson’s situation.
Remember to join the Agents of SHIELD (and other Marvel properties) discussion on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for the latest news and live tweets during the episode. And don’t forget to vote for your favorite CoulSass moment in the Facebook group as well!

Agents of SHIELD “Principia” Show Notes
Alex Braun joins “supervillain” team
I didn’t find Fitz’s stress out of place with Deke because I too mainly chalked it up to him stressing about the rip; the other part is Fitz can be an aggressive person verbally, he’s shown it since S2 to me so I thought he was completely in character for the situation.
Even with the not great first half I’d easily rate S5 over the dumpster fire that was S3 (easily my least favorite season because for me it was so bad the way they handled Jemma and continued to handle Fitzsimmons that it almost had me quitting the series), but I’d have to put it behind S2 because while S2 had its issues it was at least less confusing that the first half of S5 has been.
I’d rather it be Hale who reveals the DNA results than Deke; I’m not holding my breath but I also hope Jemma and Fitz don’t go cliche in their reaction to it because they know Deke more as a person than grandkid which it’s neat to know he’s a good person but it’s not a typical grandparent/child dynamic either so they shouldn’t react in the typical way.
I’m DEFINITELY going “Can’t Touch This” for the CoulSass poll!
I definitely think Ruby is serious about revolting against Hale!
Agreed, Daisy is cute; his mom clearly gets that appreciation from her mother. 😉
