Oliver is trying hard to take down Prometheus and things do not go well on that front. It’s also the midseason finale and boy oh boy do they give us a WTF moment right at the end!
Listen in to hear The Shadow, Podcast Overload and Cammie discuss “What We Leave Behind” (5×09). As always we love getting feedback from the Arrow Squad members so please send in your thoughts too!

As a new co-host Cammie needs to get her call sign in the intro at this point.
While the awkward hug moment is inconsistent to the characters’ relationships, it’s not really out if place sadly this season…beyond a few moments with Oliver and Thea at the mayor’s office and Oliver and John in the cave we haven’t seen the original team really interacting this season like we have in the past; I still don’t feel like we’ve had an honest John and Felicity moment, they’ve always been in a group this season never alone and she and Thea haven’t really had a moment. I know Thea is busy being mayor, I refuse to give Oliver credit for Thea’s hard work, but still they couldn’t have had some meeting in the Arrow cave or John and Felicity again especially since he was trapped down there hiding out supposedly…Felicity has been oddly disconnected from the group this season so far it’s felt; even with the newbies she’s had really no interaction except for a few brief moments. And again the whole OTA and Thea feel separated, they’re together but they’re not. It’s kind of how Laurel came across to me last season – she was there but she was disconnected feeling at the same time so I felt if she walked away she’d be perfectly fine with that decision; OTA feels a bit more joined but they’re still not as jelled as they once were and I don’t know if that’s intentional due to Oliver giving Felicity space after their split or because he has so much going on or John and Felicity’s talks have been all off screened but there’s definitely a divided feeling or if it’s due to just writing more to certain characters and plots thus some feel more fleshed out than others – like we know Thea is running the office but because that’s not as huge a factor as it was last season it doesn’t feel as fleshed out as before thus Thea feels arguably left out. Hopefully that all made sense but yeah it was an awkward ending, but not out of place this season.
It’s realistic people would grow apart in doing their own things but OTA and Thea aren’t that apart…or maybe it’s just we’re so use to seeing them so together that now that they’re on individual paths you really feel that gap and you’re not sure if it’s a good thing because of growth or bad because the dynamic has shifted.
I like Cammie’s idea for the hug at the end.
Ha “Tangent Cast”! To be fair, they’ve done really nothing with Evelyne except this turn so it’s not surprising it feels different when she’s around and that’s really sad just from the point of she seems like a good character and it would have made her turn even more impactful arguably if she had those team moments then had it crash down around her because of Oliver’s list reveal. So much has been done with the newbie guys that it’s almost like “Who’s Evelyne?” at times; I know background wise Roy is still pretty mysterious also but he’s at least had a moment with Felicity and he’s had buddy time with the others but Evelyne has had nothing and again that’s a shame. Even in this episode after they revealed she was working with Prometheus in whatever fashion she just disappeared…it’s like she’s an extra instead of a season character, maybe there’s more to come in this season but I’m not surprised she breaks the scene stride for you Overload as she’s the least connected of the newbies even though she’s part of a big plot.
I’d personally love to see them do more with Eve because 1) Laurel’s death (even though they could have just had her retire – always going to be upset about that) is tied to this in a way so that gap needs some good pay off, 2) she’s just as interesting a character as the others – I’d rather see her than Wild Dog who continues to be more annoying than engaging for me, and 3) this is suppose to be a big deal for the team but it feel kind if hallow as they never showed the boys or OTA really bonding with her so I’m not sure why she just didn’t become the season bad guy instead or at least a new villain for the team but someone they’re not going to kill because she has a point but now they have to find a way to exist in the same city until they can reach an understanding – that would be refreshing and interesting.
I’m up for Susan being Prometheus still; it sounds like a guy but they love voice modification on this show. Salty Cammie is fun. Prometheus’s villainy was great in this episode! I agree with Shadow, I don’t think it was Lyla making that call. I do miss ruthless Susan.
Huntress is not a villain, she’s an anti-hero like Oliver! Cupid playing matchmaker would be a good humor episode.
I agree with Justina, I wasn’t a fan of Billy but it is sad how he died.
So if Shadow is Laurel’s fan boy and Overlord is Sara’s does that make Cammie Nyssa’s fan girl? Lance power trio!
Happy holidays!
