Killer Bees Attack Central City!

Killer Bees Attack Central City!

This is a special report! Killer bees are on the loose in Central City! The attacks are not random. It is as if the swarm is being controlled. As the investigation continues a common thread is found. The victims all work in the Robotics Industry. According to a reliable source the next target is Tina McGee at Mercury Lab. CCU 36 – S1E18 – All Star Team Up

In Praise of the Lesser Known Villains

So this week, in “All Star Team Up”, we got our first, brief, and hopefully not last look at a massively-revamped Bug-Eyed Bandit. Compared to Bertram Larvan (shown below), Emily Kinney was a welcome sight, even if she was only there for a few minutes. But I thought I’d take a moment to shout out the praises of Flash, and it’s willingness to embrace the C-and-D Listers of the DC villain community.

CCU 35 – S1E17 – Tricksters

Trickstered! or Will the Real Eobard Thawne Please Stand Up?

Well, Tricksters was everything I’d hoped it would be and more. Mark Hamill’s 1/2 Hannibal Lector, 1/2 Jerry Lewis Trickster was a shtick-spewing force of awesome. Watching Barry’s animosity toward Wells escalate propelled us ever closer to the showdown. But then, we got hit by the biggest trick of all! Harrison Wells ISN’T Reverse-Flash! Eobard Thawne is! But…wait. Isn’t Harrison Wells actually Eobard Thawne? Well, not exactly. Some time-travel, some future tech, and a big ol’ reveal as the yellow cowl is removed to reveal…Matthew Letscher?!
Brilliant!

Time Keeps On Slippin’: Joe’s Thoughts on “Rogue Time”

Time travel. The bane of McFlys and writers alike. It’s an element that, once introduced, irrevocably changes the nature of whatever it’s introduced to. Things get “Timey-wimey.” Read more…

CCU 33 – S1E15 – Out Of Time

CCU 33 – S1E15 – Out Of Time

We come back after a few weeks off to a terrific episode of The Flash! No more “Will they or won’t they?”, time travel is here and it’s going to get messy!

Join us as we discuss The Flash Season 1, Episode 15 Out Of Time… even though we call it Episode 14 in the podcast. Whoops!

Still, clerical numbering problems or not, what a great episode of The Flash. So many reveals, twists and turns that just led to more questions and more possibilities for our favorite superhero and his team… and his enemies! Will time reset itself? Will Barry prevent some of the disasters we saw unfolding? We’ll find out on Tuesday the 24th of March!

Flash, Season 1, Episode 14 – Fallout

To Spin-Off or not to Spin-Off

Hello again, all! Joey Shakespeare here again to throw out some thoughts, make some musings and otherwise blog away.

So the last two episodes of The Flash have brought the Firestorm story arc to the forefront. Last week, we got to see the mysterious “Burning Man” in action, and this week we saw the men that made up the “Burning Man.” One mushroom cloud and young Ronnie Raymond and the esteemed Dr. Martin Stein were free of each other. But in truth, that was just the beginning of the fun.

CCU 31 – S1E13 – The Nuclear Man

A SOURCE IS A SOURCE

One of the things Tony and I discuss in this week’s CCU podcast is The Flash’s willingness to adhere to the source material…so long as it suits them. It’s a tricky road to walk (run?), but the writing team has learned to navigate it masterfully.

For several years in the early 2000s, I dove into the Flash comics like they were a refreshing pool and I was on fire. Geoff Johns focused on the men behind the masks. The Flash was ancillary to Wally West, a mechanic w/ Keystone City’s police force. He loved hockey, his wife, and his city. Captain Cold would set down his cold gun, remove his parka, and become Leonard Snart…a coffee-drinking weisenheimer with a fierce, if unique, moral code and equally fierce loyalty to his friends. He also loved hockey. Read more…

CCU 30 – S1E12 – CRAZY FOR YOU

CCU 30 – S1E12 – CRAZY FOR YOU

Welcome, citizens of Central City (and perhaps it’s neighbor/twin, Keystone City!)

Before we launch into discussion of Peekaboo, and her adventures with Flash, let’s do some introductions:

Who on earth am I, might you ask? Allow me to introduce myself. My name’s Joe Zettelmaier and, along with the talented Tony Caselli (aka The Director), I’m one of your new co-hosts for Central City Underground. The Shadow and Miss Ice may have gone on the run, but Tony and I will guide you through the twisting alleys of the city.

CCU 29 – S1E11 – The Pied Piper

The Judge and The Man in the Suit sound off about the Pied Piper. No more “Toni” and “Joe”; we’ve got real underground names now.

We heard about Hartley Rathaway last week, and this week we meet him. And hear him. The Pied Piper is here for payback because Doc Wells wouldn’t … listen to him. Well, can ya’ hear me now?
