Reunion saw friends coming back together (Jim & Harvey, Ed & Oswald), team Batman reunited with Alfred and Bruce, and both halves of the Riddler merged. Ivy was in driving force of most of the reunions but Sofia played a big roll as well.
Reunion Team – Batman:
Bruce meets with Alfred in the diner. He apologizes and asks for help, but Alfred refuses, saying he will have to make it right first. Bruce leaves dejected after Alfred refuses to come to the Wayne Foundation banquet. Bruce then seeks out Selina for help. She pushes him away because she is busy with Ivy and he has to do it for himself.
That evening at the banquet, he is startled when he sees Alfred show up. He goes off script and thanks Alfred for being a father figure and helping him. Alfred is touched, but says Bruce needs to see his true self good and bad before he can get the help he needs. Poison Ivy and her thugs show up and start to terrorize the place. Alfred is knocked out. Bruce sneaks back in and grabs an outfit off one of the fallen. He rescues Alfred and starts to help the GCPD mop up the thugs. He is mistaken for a thug and Jim shoots him. Luckily he has on a bulletproof vest and is able to escape.
Later at Wayne Manor, Alfred patches him up and debriefs him. Bruce has learn from his mistakes and is going to use the good and bad in himself to protect Gotham. This satisfies Alfred and he says he is home.
Reunion Team – GCPD:
Ivy has been working overtime with her plants and the Lazarus Water. She goes to Harvey’s bar to pay him back for killing her dad. Harvey is taking the day off, but she kills everyone in the bar to send him a message. Lucius Fox is amazed at the power and strength of her plants. Jim comes in and asks about Harvey. They rush over to Harvey’s to try and stop Ivy. They find him on the couch and think he is dead. Nope just sleeping. Jim fills him in, but Harvey doesn’t want back on the force. He will find Ivy his way, once he finds his pants. They see her video manifesto on the TV. She is going after everyone in Gotham starting with Harvey.
Later, Harvey calls Jim with a scoop. Jim meets Harvey in a storage room by a bar where thugs can be hired. Ivy is there and Harvey has the jump on Jim. She has dosed Harvey and instructs him to kill Jim and then himself. Jim outsmarts Harvey and knocks him out. When he awakes at the GCPD, he is upset. Harvey says they are going after rich people. Alvarez has a lead on Ivy with the Wayne Foundation dinner. Jim wants Harvey to go, but he says it is too risk and he will help at the precinct.
Jim and the GCPD make to the the dinner and disrupt Ivy’s plans. She escapes and the police mop up the thugs with Bruce’s help. Jim confides in Harvey all about Sofia and asks for Harvey’s help taking her down. He apologizes and agrees to help. Ivy has gone back to her crash pad and retrieves the last of the Lazarus Water, but is stopped by Selina. That fight to a draw with the water lost, but both lives intact.
Reunion Team – Riddler and Penguin:
Ed is struggling. He is taking all kinds of pills, but he cannot get rid of the Riddler. He has a strong affection for Lee and knows he cannot put her in danger. There is only one choice, kill himself to get rid of the danger of the Riddler. But he got a letter from Oswald and it was coded. Ed thought the letter was about friendship, but the Riddler saw the code. Riddler convinced Ed to commit himself to Arkham instead of killing himself. There Ed is confronted by Oswald. Oswald speaks to Riddler and calls him out. Ed and Riddler merge then join Oswald to have some fun.
Lee has met with Sofia and it is clear Sofia wants the Narrows. Lee says the Narrows cannot pay the price of loyalty. Ed has advised her to offer Jim in return for the Narrows. Sofia comes to the sit down with Lee. Lee offers info on Jim that Sofia can use, but Sofia refuses. She kills Lee’s men, gives the Narrows to Sampson, and then she beats Lee’s hand bloody. Lee is in the hospital and Jim looks at her before he heads back to the GCPD ready to stop Sofia.
Closing Thoughts:
While Reunion brought so many back together, I felt the Bruce and Alfred story was pushed a bit too soon. But over all I’m happy to be done with Party Bruce for awhile. It was wonderful to see Harvey and Jim back and the bromance kicking back in. I’m so ready for them to get back to dispensing justice in Gotham. Ivy respects Selina, but will time bring them to reunion of further separation? As fun as it has been to see Ed and Lee working together, I’m ready for the Riddler to be back. A fun episode and a good one for a first time writer and director.

“We asked a lot of it this year moving to Thursday nights and I thought it did a pretty good job of opening up that night for us. I feel like Gotham should have a place in our schedule.” That will “purely be a matter of scheduling. Thursday is not available in the fall, so where do we use it? Hopefully there’s more years of Gotham.”
