Blood Rush finds Barnes out for blood justice, Penguin in a blood red jealous fit, and Jim searching for the bloody killer. Who will survive Gotham’s blood rush is anyone’s guess this week on Gotham!
Blood Rush:
Captain Barnes is starting to lose it. He sees a suspicious man with blood on his face. He follows him to an underground room. There the man is chopping up a body and dissolving it in acid. He gets the name of his boss, The Toad, and then proceeds to kill the man, ripping his head off. The crime scene is found the next day and Jim & Harvey work it. Finding out that the man and the body were killed by 2 different people. Barnes goes after The Toad who leads him to Doctor Symon.
Jim & Harvey with the help of Lee and Lucious Fox follow the evidence to Dr. Symon as well. Barnes confronts Symon but manages to pull back his rage and brings him in. But Symon is connected. He may be giving criminals new faces (off of unwilling people) but he is in with the Gotham elite. He is quickly released by Judge Bam Bam and makes it to the Falcone party.
Barnes is ready to give up. He has talked to the Mad Hatter in Arkham. Jervis says their is no cure but to give in. Once you start hearing the voices, Alice is taking over. He leaves his badge and gun at the GCPD and heads over to the party. He wants to wish Lee well and leave. There his rage against Falcone’s mob past pushes him. Hearing Symon got out, pushes him more. Seeing Symon there breaks his control. Doctor Symon is under Barnes’ rage. Barnes has become judge, jury and executioner. Doctor Symon is thrown through the wall and down several stories.
Barnes has no more reservations. He tells Jim they are going to clean up Gotham. He looks at every face and sees a bloody, guilty person. Woe to anyone who stands in his way. Jim finds Symon and he tells Jim Barnes did this to him. Oh what a bloody mess we have in Gotham!
Rush of Blood to the Heart:
Ed and Isabella have breakfast together in her home. They are smitten and counting the hours until she will be back from her conference. All is good until she puts on her glasses (she normally wears contacts). They are the same style as Kristen’s. Isabella (Chelsea Spack) is thrown for a loop as Ed rushes to the bathroom. He has a mirror conversation with Kristen, who tells him he will kill Isabella just like he killed her.
He loves Isabella and wants to protect her. We reluctantly comes back to her apartment at the end of the ep. She has determined to love him an make him see he can love her. She has dyed her hair and dressed up like Kristen. He is shocked and begins to choke her and then love breaks through. Love reigns in their lives.
Blood Red Jealousy:
Penguin listens as Ed shares his fear of killing Isabella and is thrilled that he has Ed all to himself. Until Ed asks for Penguin’s help to break up with Isabella. Oswald heads over and tries to break for Ed. But Isabella will not accept it. She loves Ed and sees that Oswald does too. She is not mad but determined to cure Ed of his fears. Oswald knows that love will win, so he lets jealousy rule. He has one of his goons cut the brakes on Isabella’s car. Last we see of her she is speeding into the path of a train. Oh Oswald, don’t you know that once Ed gets past the grief he will see through it and know it was you? Will this be the start of the division between The Riddler and Penguin?
Bloody Chops:
Jim is back on the force and the first case is a bloody mess. He is trying to get information from Lee but, it is still awkward. Mario has asked her to, as much as she can, stay clear of Jim. But it is rough. Jim is giving them space but it is not easy. The case has him following a suspect to Mario & Lee’s engagement party. Mario & Jim start to but heads but, Harvey heads in to find the suspect. Mario pulls Jim for a word in the library. Jim shoots straight with him about Lee, but Mario trusts his gut more that Jim or Lee. Jim calls him a weak for being jealous and Jim gets a punch to the jaw. Things are quiet for now between Mario and Jim but will they stay that way? I doubt it. I think Mario is too much of a Falcone to let it go for long.
Closing Thoughts:
This ep could have been called Face Off (LOL listen to the podcast), but it was a fun ep. I like how they are showing Barnes decent into blood rage. I just hope Jim and the crew can help find a cure for him before it is too late. So thrilled to see Jim back on the job. Now if he can find a healthy balance between his job and social life it would be great. Mario is still looking like he will make a turn to be a bad guy and follow in his father’s footsteps. Will Lee stick with him through it all? I just can’t see it. Oh Ed and Isabella, my heart was breaking for you tonight. I’m so angry that Penguin has crashed your ship, but not as angry as the Riddler will be! I’m excited to see where Gotham takes us next!
