Burn the Witch and Fish will fry. Penguin is stirring up the mob to kill Fish. Fish is burning up and in need of a cure. Bruce gets burned by the Court of the Owls. It’s a hot time in the Mad City tonight!
Burn the Witch:
Penguin wants Fish to burn. He has been stirring up the press and the citizens of Gotham. The man has charisma and is using it to push people’s fear and exploit the failings of the GCPD. When the GCPD corner Fish, he and Butch lead the mob to the location. He uses the mob to distract the police and he goes after Fish, with Jim’s help. But when he confronts the witch in his life, he finds a mother figure instead. She calls the transformation of Oswald into Penguin the proudest moment of her life. Her gambit succeeds and He sends her off, telling her never to come back.
Fish Burns for a Cure:
Fish is about to burn out. She uses her powers to persuade Harvey to lead them to Hugo. The government had converted an old mansion to a lab and are trying to get him to reverse engineer his work. Fish begs, pleads and harasses Hugo to cure her. He is so proud of her as his best creation his Eve. But he says he cannot cure her.
Jim and Valerie have been seeking out Fish. Valerie’s source is Selina and they have to go through Stabby Babbs to get a clue. Valerie & Jim have formed an uneasy alliance. Jim sneaks into the lab and makes a deal to get Fish & Hugo out in return for Harvey. Jim calls Penguin for the distraction. Fish & Hugo are free and Jim and Valerie relieve the tension with each other.
Bruce is Burned:
Bruce has been kidnapped by the Court of the Owls. He get’s his audience with the Court’s leader Kathryn. He and Alfred have worked out a plan to get the Court to leave him alone. But they are one step ahead. They demand he give up his quest for info on them, Indian Hill, and his parents killers or they come after his loved ones. Bruce fills in Alfred and they talk about what is next. Then they get a visit from Clone Bruce.
Ivy’s Beauty Burns:
Ivy washes up on the shore of the river. But she has grown up physically. A kindly truck driver offers to give her some water at his house. She tells her life story to him. But he is bad at keeping plants and that pushes her over the edge. She kills him, dresses up in a killer outfit and heads out on the town. She may not be Poison Ivy yet but she is on the way!
Closing Thoughts:
I am loving this season. I love how the writers are developing each character one small scene at a time. This episode displays that with Ivy’s few scenes and the small look into Barbara’s life. Karen and I love podcasting about Gotham and we are so thankful you are here with us. Thanks so much to John McGrail for stepping in for Karen this week. Next Week: Next week’s ep is “Look Into My Eyes” Hypnotist Jervis Tetch/Mad Hatter (Benedict Samuel) arrives in Gotham to search for his sister, Alice (guest star Naian Gonzalez Norvind), and hires Gordon to help find her. Meanwhile, Penguin decides to run for mayor and Bruce’s doppelganger begins to channel him, causing some confusion around town.
