Agent CarterLook out!  The Marvel Universe is expanding again! She is not as flashy as Ironman.  She is not as big as The Hulk.  Don’t worry about Agent Peggy Carter because she can  hold her own.  If you watched Captain America: the First Avenger you will already be the familiar with our main character.  After serving in the Military, Agent Carter is assigned to the Strategic Scientific Reserve. Among the many challenges she faces is gaining the respect of her colleagues.  It is 1946 and women are not seen as equal to men.  Agent Carter uses this to her advantage in the first episode.  She is able to get top-secret information while appearing to be simply serving coffee.  My favorite quote of the episode was, “Can you file these Carter, you’re better at that.  Better at what?  Using the alphabet?  I can teach you.  Let’s start with words that start with the letter A.”

Agent Carter’s main objective is to clear the name of Howard Stark.  Howard is an inventor and the father of Ironman, just in case you’re keeping a Marvel  family tree.  Howard is a genius who sometimes invents things that are dangerous.  These inventions that he calls his “bad babies” are locked up for safekeeping.  Not safe enough as it turns out.  A hole was drilled in his basement and a highly volatile explosive was stolen.  Now Howard  is off to Europe and Agent Carter is on the job.  She must get the explosive off the street and Howard out of trouble.  She is quick and smart.  She stays one step ahead of her fellow agents at the SSR.  She is not completely alone.  Does anyone remember that supercomputer that keeps Tony Stark’s life running smoothly?  Well, in Agent Carter, you get to meet Jarvis in the flesh.  Let me assure you he is just as entertaining and helpful as a man as he is as a computer. Many of the funny lines belong to Jarvis.

The first installment of this eight-part miniseries really got me hooked.  Join me on this adventure Tuesday nights at 9/8c on ABC.

Did you check your podcast feed and think, “Oh no!  Golden Spiral  Media isn’t doing an Agent Carter podcast.”   Don’t worry, Mike and Dave would not let you down.  They did not go to Tahiti while the rest of the Agents of Shield are on hiatus.  They are covering Agent Carter so head over to the Sandbox now and get your level 7 clearance.
