The Gangster, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
How far would you go to claim something that was never yours, and who sends the bill when it comes due? "Dead Man's Shoes" and "Jess-Belle" answer that question in very different ways. Both stories hand desperate people a shortcut, whether it comes from a dead man's feet or a witch's cabin, and both show that borrowed power always has strings attached. Rob and Darrell break down how the series uses longing, envy, and supernatural bargains to expose what people will sacrifice when they feel powerless or unloved.
"Dead Man's Shoes" follows Nathan Bledsoe, a destitute drifter who pulls a fine pair of shoes off a murdered gangster's body, only to find the dead man's violent personality taking over. "Jess-Belle" follows a backwoods girl who, determined to win the man she loves, turns to a local witch for a love potion and learns the true price of her wish. One person is possessed by a stranger's will, the other by her own desire. But who is really in control in each story, and does anyone walk away free?
