Supergirl and J’onn are investigating a robbery in National City. The crime is being perpetrated by a group of aliens that would not normally work together. The items they are stealing are fairly benign separately, but together could build a bomb that would level a skyscraper. This is a story that Kara could use to put Catco on top right? Andrea doesn’t think so. She wants articles about what the Superfriends do for fun. That will give her the bump in ratings she craves.
Kelly is on her first assignment for social services. She heads to a group home where a young boy named Joey with EMP powers is acting out. When Kelly speaks to him, she discovers he is stressed that his incarcerated brother Orlando is overusing his powers. This could lead to irreversible harm or even death if it were to continue. Kelly enlists the help of Kara to go speak to the warden of the prison where Orlando is being held, to inquire about his well-being.
Meanwhile Nia is sent home from work for falling asleep in a staff meeting. She is still plagued with doubts regarding her powers. She is desperate to speak to her late mother to ask for her wisdom and guidance. What price will she pay to get the advice and reassurance she craves? When Nyxly invades Nia’s dreamscape Green Butterfly begins to worry the price will be very, very high.
Soon it becomes clear Orlando is part of the group of aliens Supergirl and J’onn have been looking for. All five are being removed from their work assignment and diverted to another job. Turns out these inmates had been told if they complete this side job then they will be set free. This appeals to Orlando because then he can return to caring for his brother Joey.
Kelly is worried about the conditions she sees in the foster home. She returns under cover of darkness to retrieve security camera footage of the children being harmed by their caregiver. Kara and William have a breakthrough in their story. They were able to follow the money to a mob boss that wanted the assortment of stolen items to build a bomb. In the end the bad guys were stopped, and William was able to get an exclusive interview with Supergirl to appease Andrea.
As Nia takes another nap, I am disturbed to find Nia falling victim to Nyxly’s manipulations. The imp offers her 24 hours with her late mother in exchange for Nia’s help escaping this dreamscape. The wise owl tries to warn our Dreamer about the possible treachery. However, as we end the episode Nia is accepting Nyxly’s bargain. Green Butterfly is filled with dread over the consequences that will need to be paid. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Supergirl’s latest adventure. Until then, have a super week! Oh, and K-Vox has many questions. She’s keeping a journal…

Some blog post comments…
LOOK AT K-Vox’s LITTLE FACE IN THE DREAM JOURNAL…precious. ?❤️?
Here’s my thing about the Superfriends board – how does Andrea know that Alex is Sentinel (?) and Brainy is Brainiac-5? The others have said their name in public before so I get them being labeled as is but her knowing he especially is 5 when they usually just say Brainy or Brainiac…I call continuity hole! So many of them though it’s easy to hit one sadly. I do wish the image had been a little clear when enlarged because I’d love to see all exactly what Andrea wrote for each. 🙂 Also can we take a quick moment to talk about how everyone else is clearly in an action scene but the smoke behind Brainy makes his look like a headshot as it were. Ha.
On to the podcast…
*whispers in regards to the promos or the lack there of* They don’t care anymore John.
“Is she asleep?!” – that was hilarious and a great moment. 🙂
Kenny better her OTP because otherwise Crisis was POINTLESS to us.
Congratulations on the baby Jess!
Woo Monty! Ha
I have to watch the crossover because of Alex otherwise I’d be skipping it Leslie.
It’s hilarious every time John coughs over CWverse. ???
Esme is probably who they will adopt.
“DC Legion Of Pets” – you have my attention now. 🙂 I wonder how much new content there will actually be for “Supergirl”? October would fit for the series end.
*listens to Justina’s pick of the week* I love Nxy. 🙂 Nice use of the “Aladdin” clip. “Throw yourself off of a bridge so that one of them has to catch you and then interview then on the way down!” – I loved that bit also from Andrea. 🙂 At least Andrea respects mental health days.
Sadly Andrea is correct – if you don’t have eyes no one can see your awesome story; I wish it wasn’t that way but it is…the only thing that can change is once you’re at the top then you can back off the hallow stuff but until then you need to do something to get attention that you’re there you know?
“The Guardian cometh.” – BBBOOO! ? I disagree Justina, I did not like the security camera moment because Kelly was never shown or said in season four to have computer skills so her with them in season five felt random and thusly now they feel random and like giving her skills just so gn that can do a cool action scene even if that’s not truly in her character.
Let’s be real John, Leviathan wasn’t important. 😉
“Kelly makes a real difference in this episode without being Guardian” – exactly Daryl; again part of what annoys me SO much with this plot is the fact in her introduction to the series Kelly’s WHOLE thing to James was Guardian was dumb and the worst way he could actually do anything productive to a system yet now we’re meant to believe she agrees with him? Hard pass! Kelly did more out of a suit to help the kids than she ever could in the suit! It’s just more proof they’re doing the bare minimum each week on continuity and plot and this season is not for the fans but to create filler time feature these under contract actors until they can be done with this property and move everyone on to their beloved Superman or whatever show they want to promote more as it hasn’t been us sadly it seems for the last two years at least. *sigh*
They just want to make another flashy costume John because you are right – Kelly will change really nothing in a suit, yes she may bring more attention to someone as a “hero” but it’s Kelly who will change things not Guardian and really anyone of the super pals could be the face for her causes – it doesn’t have to be Guardian but no everyone has to wear a suit now or you aren’t really doing anything. *yawn* Everyone has a suit now and thusly no one stands out. I miss when they promoted heroes out of the suits as much as those in them – remember Kara saying ALEX was her hero, it’s not Sentinel it’s Alex and the the with Alex saying KARA is her hero not Supergirl; skills are what they can do not who they are – Alex was always as heroic as Kara but she didn’t have a costume hide her identity poorly was the only difference and now they both have lame hero covers and Alex’s cool factor has honestly taken a hit because all she did was blend on when she never needed to and it’s just so disappointing to see. I still love Alex don’t get me wrong but she is admittedly not as cool as she use to be when she was out of a suit and proud of it. Kelly is SUPER generic now because they don’t let her do the one awesome thing she’s good at and it’s not like she even got her own plot or identity she gets her brother’s used up plot that every fan hated and yeah it’s all just bad. 🙁 They spent too much money on the suit to go back now Justina. 🙁
As fun as that would be John that’s too much fun so what will happen in reality is more like Kelly somehow uses training from the military we never heard of until this point to beat Alex and Kara comments how that’s never happened and they try to push that as that means Kelly is the best match for Alex. *yawn* I’m betting it will be all talk of training with them no actual so because it’s less time in a suit. Oh they could make it worse by having them in the suit when Kelly beats her – again they’re not here to write in character stuff anymore. Ha.
The kangaroos are still harassing Monty. Ha.
Feel better Geoff!
Time to be that person again this week: yes having a black queer superhero is important, that said we have had two on the network with Anissa Pierce on “Black Lightening” and now Ryan Wilder on “Batwoman” but you know what we don’t have a lot of representation on – how to be a hero without a suit and how important mental health is to long term happiness! Felicity Smoak is the prime example of how you don’t have to suit up to be a hero also; Alex use to be in that category and they were fan favorites so what is so wrong with just letting Kelly be Kelly Olsen? You want to do these deep themes but you don’t want to do the one right in front of you even though Kara clearly has trauma from the Phantom Zone and we have a licensed shrink marrying into the family (because you know that’s coming) but no let’s just have that person running around also punching bad guys because action is more important than characters I guess? It’s totally the characters we tune in for each week but no lets just do action content instead because that makes sense. *shakes head* Kelly is black, queer doctorate holder – that’s important too because that dream can be achieved by viewers, if they try to suit up and fight crime they’re more realistically going to get arrested; let Kara, Nia, and J’onn be the escape points for the series while Alex and Kelly bring your realism to help ground the series otherwise it’s just going to be a joke. I mean I know it already is with the damage they’ve done to the series but you get my point hopefully. 🙂 If the CW wants to give me more queer superhero content they can do it via a lead particularly Courtney Whitmore on “Stargirl” (bisexual representation right there people), Kelly Olsen is good as Kelly Olsen in my opinion!
Kelly definitely would have made more of a difference taking over the home at the end instead of becoming Guardian but again that’s good progress and the writers don’t do that here anymore. You could have the team in and out and what do the kids think of that and what happens if one tries to blackmail them by selling the identities to Andrea…ooh what if Alex started training them in defense, she could make her own baby DEO force! 😀 This is a child endangerment situation I know but still – better than Guardian. Ha
I’m not holding my breath for the final to be good Dreamweaver. 🙁
I think Alex and Kelly are good friends but yeah I agree Leslie – I can’t ship them together because it’s all so hallow. “An EMP alien could have blown out a bank’s security when they are closed and taken thousands of dollars instead” – FACTS!
There’s no poll in the blog post…you’re slipping John’s don’t be like the writers in quality now. ;p
In regards to the poll…is there an owl clearly saying “Danger; don’t do it!” to me? If so, I’d say no but if not then maybe depending on what it was and if we sat down and tried to talk up some conditions. 🙂
Since when does Kara need help winning over a crowd? Also a wasted musical episode? *sigh* Lena content is the best part of all that promo section!
