Supergirl and her team have faced a lot of turmoil recently. Not the least of which was a crisis of epic proportion. The process of bringing numerous Earth’s together left Supergirl and her friends on Earth Prime. I fear the cosmic shift will lead to many yet unforeseen problems. Lex Luthor has manipulated his way to the center of it all, crowning himself the Paragon of Truth. Many crazy events have transpired. Perhaps this butterfly should start at the beginning.
Lena sold Catco to Andrea Rojas who is eager to turn it in to a tabloid newspaper. Why should she report real news when her main financial endeavor is on the next floor down at Obsidian North? People are encouraged to let go of reality and live in the virtual world her company has created. Lena uses the money earned from the sale of the magazine to fund her Non Nocere initiative. Her goal is to create a society of people that no longer wish to harm one another. These two college friends are on different paths. One wants to entice people into a fake manufactured world. The other wants to make the real world a better place.
One of the best things about season five is the end of Lena being on the outside of our super friends group. We spent far too long in previous seasons wondering when she would learn the truth. We all said being the genius she is Lena probably knew for a long time. Regardless it was important for Kara to say it out loud to someone she calls her closest friend. Nia and Brainy were a joy this season and my hope is that they can come back together again. I hope Dreamer has not come too late and she is able to save Brainy whose life was in grave danger.
Brainy bottled the gods of Leviathan at great personal cost. Then Lex took the bottle. Who knows what he will choose to do with it. Lillian has returned to National City to work with her son. One never knows what devious plans they might orchestrate. We never met the Ancient One whose power seemed to be something that should be revered. Lex was given a second chance at life but I fear he thinks he can outsmart a god. He is just a fool who is biting off more then he can chew. The true Paragon of this story is Kara Zor El. She lost one world and will not lose another. Her hope inspires us all to be super in our own ways. Re-engage with reality and join with Lena to make the real world a better place. Supergirl with her sister and her team by her side will survive whatever chaos ridden nightmare might come next. She will succeed she is our Maid of Steel.

Some blog post comments…
“I hope Dreamer has not come too late and she is able to save Brainy whose life was in grave danger.” – you know she will.
In regards to the promo, zzzzzzzzzz wow that was incredibly boring to me; the only good part was Lena punching Lex! Well and seeing Lillian, ha. The rest I could do without for sure! It’s Kara’s final season on TV yet she has to waste time with Clark’s main villain, YAWN! Alex is still in a suit which is a crime against her character. And this promo came out literally a week before we start so yeah – not a lot of positive vibes surrounding this season sadly I have to say.
On to the podcast…
I don’t expect a lot to be honest. ?
Cat yes, Callista no. 🙁
You watched season five content?! Poor you Justina!
“Kara wins a Pulitzer” – lol, that’s still funny. 🙂
I agree, I’m fine with James being left where he is; just let him be a newsman like he should have been all along!
William Day ?.
I hardcore disagree with you both – season five is the worst season of the series!
“This show is a shadow of itself.” – sad facts John. 🙁 It breaks my heart.
I’ll be honest and say I don’t miss James as he’s in a much better place now for his character!
I 100% agree Daryl, no way Kara’s hope speech works this time for everyone given everyone is in there for different reasons and has been in there for different lengths of time so some’s reality is more wrapped than others’.
Nia is the only real reporter on this series beyond Cat. Ha! 🙂
The only show we impacted was “Batwoman” but when they rebooted instead of just recasting that pretty much all went out the window so again – Crisis meant nothing to us.
It’s nice to know some have faith John because I sure don’t; everything I’ve seen about season six just gets worse and worse as we go! Yes Lillian in the promo was nice but I’m not sure she can save the season. I’d like to hope we’d get good moments with characters, but they also still have Alex in a latex suit so you know.
There’s NO WAY Justina they were thinking when they put Alex in the Super suit, if you even knew Alex a little you would know her suit is cotton polos in black so yeah I think they more so thought “This will be cool!” instead of “This is going to make sense to her character path”. Not even Chyler can make this okay to me because it goes so far against Alex in my opinion; she has the “Alex In Wonderland” episode can we not just call that it? Girl you’re directing this season don’t die on the super suit hill; if she wants to fight for something fight for Alex finding out about Jeremiah and killing everyone involved because Alex is an anti-hero and needs to be embraced as such. Ha. I will give people Kelly/Alex as Alex’s endgame before I give in to the suit! The only good thing about the suit is its color combination, that’s it.
SEASON ONE WE MISS YOU!!!
Lollipop moment found here (lollipop at the end but it’s Sam/Alex so it’s all enjoyable to watch ha) – https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EseGxTmgsMU .
They’re still airing “Batwoman” episodes right? Again why can’t we just keep Sunday? It’s not like it matters if we get new eyes really, it’s not like they’re going to give us a season seven. 🙁 And if they haven’t figured out by now that Alex is a favorite (arguably the favorite) who deserves her own show then they aren’t going to do it this season so yeah Summer wasn’t going to matter; the only good would be we wouldn’t feel like a stand in for Superman…again it’s probably just me but I feel it and I hate it!
I’m going to miss you guys when it’s all over! ?
Kelly convincing Alex to be a super suit wearer – another reason not to support Kelly/Alex. Ha!
That’s fair Leslie, the 100th episode was decent.
CJ ?…I know Cat has admitted to doing questionable things in her past but to call herself CJ? Ha. Also exactly how old do they think Cat, and thusly Lois, is suppose to be? 20 year old Cat maybe calls herself CJ but 30+ Cat no way; if you take out say even 10 years for the fact Alex and Kara are still in Midvale together then that puts Cat at like 40 in season one and it’s been five years so she’s pushing 50 so does that mean Lois is 20 years older than Clark because isn’t he in his 30s now? Kara is closer in age to Cat than him so if you even add in her 10 years difference from him being a baby then by the time she lands and he’s in his late 20s maybe then that would make Cat and Lois late 30s at least…because no way Cat is jealous of Lois Lane who’s super younger than her! Cat might be jealous of the attention Lois gets publication wise but to be something so big she fights with a junior reporter and then leaves – it’s got to be more than just that you know? I just have a feeling they’re not going to math this all out properly; that said I REALLY just hope they don’t have her say some line to a young Kara like “I see great potential in you” because 1) the cheese and 2) Cat didn’t know Kara before season one so it would screw with show history which true they aren’t apposed to but still can we not? 🙂
Really…more secret Kryptonians?
Lena should have been a super friend in season five. Also I maintain it was STUPID that Lena doesn’t know who Kara is!
You know John is picking Lillian Luthor as an option. 🙂
I made a bad mistake…

Some random things.
“Krypton” that execrable Scify channel series with its Zack Snyderesque portrayal of Zods, Els, and Stranges in the “Fascist R’ Us” goofery of a vision by David Goyer, the Rick Berman/Derek Simon of the Snyderverse: hence the Snyderesque trashing of the House of El.
Amidst that garbage, was one performance and actor I liked. Wallis Day, who played the character, Nyssa Vex. I just noticed her like a clean bright spotlight off high hygiene acting out of all of that brown goo infested toilet water of writing, hamming and auteuring and I said to myself; “Wow; keep an eye on this person. Lots of “Q” and natural ability and the camera loves her.
But then the series died like all garbage does except for “Bat-gerbillette” and I saw her drop off my radar. Sad really.
But she has porpoised, and one remembers that I mentioned Bat-gerbillette?
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm5363417/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t7
Meet the new Kate Kane 2.0….
AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!
====================================================
Ruby Rose is 170 cm (5’7′) and 58 kg.(128 lbs.)
Wallis Day is 175 cm (5’9″) and 62 kg (136 lbs.)
The camera will notice this discrepancy. Also Wallis will be wearing a “mask” as she is introduced to the role and to the viewing audience.
The only reason I mention this news item is that much before Bat-Gerbillette 208, “Survived Much Worse”, I KNEW the craptastic show writers had to pull a bunny muffin out of the toilet to save their jobs for season three after their Ryan Wilder idea sank like a lead filled safe dumped into a brown marshmellow sea of cow offerings to the pasture daisies.
Incidentally when Ryan Wilder’s potted plant (You know the one fertilized by her “Mom’s” ashes?) is again fertilized by the Coriyana based and Safiyah sent and Julia Pennyworth assassinated assassin, blooms into the “miracle desert rose cure-anything” flower because apparently ANFLO, dead loved ones, some potting soil and the blood of a “woman” (not human generic, it has to be a woman and only a woman) allows this flower, one thought up to this point could only be grown on Coriyana to be hothoused ANYWHERE…
Add that to about 200 hundred other plot-holes, writing gaffes, I-don’t-care performances and other sludge and I wonder if the showrunners were just out to see how far they could insult the viewership at this point? “We are so smart and you are so dumb!”
Well, some of us, audience, feel depressed from time to time, Batwoman writers and we need comedy to pick us up. Nothing says, things are not so bad for us, or that as stupid as we feel right now, that we cannot watch some other pack of human beings, and enjoy the spectacle of their incompetence: of people who are so incredibly untalented and unintentionally funny that we hurt ourselves in the gut as we laugh too hard and watch them spiral down the ceramic porky pig porcelain corkscrew sewer ingress port into career ending nirvana.
What makes it so hilarious, is that these “creatives” think they are doing something “message important”.
For who? ~600,000 people who need a pick me up laugh? “Look at the clown show! My situation is not so bad. I did not blow a million dollars on cow flop and end the careers of 200 people or put people into the hospital with poor set safety oversight or botched stunt set-ups….”
All of a sudden, reality bites. It is NOT funny anymore, now that I shift PoV..
Cancel this show and make sure Caroline Gries NEVER gets the chance to hurt people like this ever again.
BTW… -200/-200/-200 out of 5/5/5.
Wallis Day will be in the next two episodes. She must have decided to commit career suicide.

Zach Snyder Cut.
Shakes head. Wondy is a psychopath and an idiot. Cyborg is boring and an idiot. Batman is simpler than those two. He is just an idiot. Flash is deaf. and never follows instructions. Silas Stone, Vic’s father, is a deranged madman, Lois shows up as usual in a Snyder film as Ms. Plot Device. Alfred is a cackling madman who does not let anyone, especially Bat-Fleck, in on Super-Idiot’s arrival to save the day and Aquaman just poses for the camera and or bumps into things.
That was the good parts of this version of the Snyder “Just Flush Us League” version of the the movie that purports to be about the “Justice League”. Murphy what did I spend four hours doing? Apparently watching Bat-gerbillette was not enough punishment for me this week.
==============================================================
I suppose the cringiest part of the Snyder treatment was when Super Idiot lasered the heroic human soldier to death who saved Flash from being lasered to death by… you know…
Super Idiot.
It is these non-sequiturs; about 200 of them in that four hours that make me DESPISE Zack Snyder the human being as well as the auteur. Either the man does not see the evil he films as he reviews and edits his rushes, or he just does not care.
And THAT is what makes me worried when I think he might be handed ANY project which involves a morality tale based on myths.
Zack Snyder has no compass, no story telling ability, or any sense of what he sends forth in his movies. Astute analysts far superior to me, see these flaws and have commented for years on this aspect of Snyder’s work, and rather than address the incredibly evil view he has of the world and seeking professional help to find out what is wrong inside him, Zack Snyder keeps pushing this same disturbing mentally ill vision.
And that is a shame. He has the tools to be a decent film maker. I mean he knows the cinema techniques learned from his music video days, though he cannot edit or string cause effects scenes together or cut to pare for story content or write dialog any better than other illiterate hacks of his generation.
The manipulative part of Snyder was what got him the chance to release this putrefactions celluloid vision of DC comics heroes combined as a club of brain damaged idiots, mass murderers and ego maniacs. I suppose Zack thinks he improved on the disorganized mess of a movie that Joss Whedon created from the original pile of manure that Snyder turned in?
The Whedon cut, created by another auteur, noted for some disturbing moral less visions of the world, at least had a story of sorts and tried to present semi-moral characters trying to do the right thing for the correct reasons. And it was edited to a much higher standard than this Snyder trash, with more attention paid to time cuts and story beats.
And Whedon did not drop in stuff and nonsense like Martian Manhunter as Martha Kent or try to coat-tail with the nightmare fan service scene to Deathstroke (or was it Deadshot?) and refer to the Joker for future hoped for Snyder projects.
Ugh.

==========================================================
Well; we have gone full soap opera mode.
1. Jerk er Jor tries to set up a date with Sarah Cushing.
2. Jon’s girlfriend sends him a “Dear John” text and this will set him off on a beer bender, because now that Jerk er Jor is happy we have to have an angsty teen somewhere in the Kent Tribe and Jon is nominated.
3. Derek shows up with his Amnesiacs R’ Us excuse. Never mind how it happens, but he starts a laser eyes fire, Clark comes in off screen left to put it out. and the damage that results is some firefighter guy named Mitch is crippled for life and somehow this sends Kyle Cushing, Sarah’s dad on a drinking binge.
4. Going from 3.; somehow this turns into a row between Kyle and Lana Lang Cushing and then it morphs into a Mexican lullaby Kyle drunkenly sings to Sarah Cushing and that in turn…
5. Pays off with Sarah telling Jon off for getting drunk and then she friendzones Jerk er Jor. I do not quite tie this all together. Somehow they lost me back there when the show writers implied that Kyle Cushing was Mexican-American hiding under the assumed name of Cushing.
6. Do not get me started on the Clark Kent flashbacks that are supposed to parallel Jon’s problems when Clark was a punk. Is that the correct word? Yup. P.U.N.K. As in punk out and run away when life gets tough for Mom and you, Clark. Not manning up to help her when she has problems after your foster dad croaked? This is not a situation with which I am unfamiliar. This is the second episode in a row where I have direct life experience that colors my viewpoint on the Tiny Superman I see.
Gutless.
7. Anyway, guess who was Captain Luthor’s wife on Earth 666? You did not smell that one? Of course one did, cause this is “As the World Turns My Stomach”, not the “Tiny Superman and Not Lois” show.
=================================================
You want superhero stuff?
8. Well, there is a cornfield dogfight between Derek and Clark that finally goes up, up and away, until Captain Luthor shoots those two idiots down with a portable surface to air missile. Who knew a Stinger could down two of the “S” crew? Needs of the story. Roll with it. Derek commits suicide by sunburst and Clark is befuddled. So am I, but not for the reason that these writers want.
You want some journalism?
9. Not-Lois, who is not doing her job has to guided by her current boss, Chrissy Beppo to where Leslie Larr, our Supergirl villainess, is hanging out with Derek. We get to see the iron lung or whatever that contraption is that zaps human be’uns with the X-Kryptonite to turn them into Krypto-fascists, er good Morgan Edge employees.
10. I’m not sure at this point how Tag Harris (Chinese American, go figure.) shows up to beat up Jerk er Jor fits in to this morass, but that was our cliffhanger. Somewhere else in the sludge was the share the wealth festival and Martha Kent’s name is put on a park bench so that her spirit of sharing will live on in Smellville. (Not a misspelling.).
Can you SMELL the rating for this stinker? -20/-20/-20 out of 5/5/5 for bad acting, directing, and especially awful writing.

Hello Maid of Steel Podcasters: Headed for Phantom Zone of platitudinous plot pratfalls Monty here.
We are in trouble. When the opening scene is a shot for shot rip-off of the Spock dies scene in “Star Trek III The Search for Spock” it is going to be one of those episodes.
Strap in, Gerbils, it is going downhill in a rocket powered sled full of horse apples about to plow into the aromatic ocean of cow flop that passes for writing on this show.
What do I mean by that greeting? Ever hear of the comics trope; “Women in Refrigerators?” Right in the first episode of Season Six, not even halfway through it and, what do we get? I knew it, right when Melissa Benoist read the line, “Well; I was stuck in the Phantom Zone, replaying the destruction of my planet for ten years… Bring it on.”
If you were expecting a good rating for this episode, I am afraid you are about to be disappointed.
That clang you hear is the refrigerator door closing on Supergirl.
She got Phantom Zoned.
“Brainy, you are not stupid.”
“Yes, Braindead is.”
“The heart is not logical.”
“That explains why Dreamer loves an idiot?” Okay writers.
Any further rate, lets note that, Lena wipes Lex’s and Lillian’s minds and presumably Otis and Eve’s minds, with Myriad too, of Kara’s secret identity knowledge; but we will see them again. We see at one point that Kara is menaced by trogs in the Valley of the Shadow as the closer. But who cares? This episode was really more or less a warp speed hurry up and get Leviathan out of the way, and let us hope people forget Derek Simon’s trash Season Five so we can try something different for Season Six, guys?
Haha. Fat chance. Anybody care that Acrata, Andrea Rojas, robbed her daddy to save her rich life style and still run Catco? No? How about Staz Nair? He’s still around; wearing the sling on the wrong arm. Cannot even keep that continuity straight? Would have been simpler to comic book edit him out of the season like the writers just refrigerated Supergirl. Hey did we not see this stupid prison plot already on Arrow? Just asking.
Sentinel? I am thinking of another super-hero for Chyler Leigh. More on that one in a moment.
Remember Claymore, the satellite? Her twelve sisters this episode form a circular firing squad and I imagined that was exactly what the writers in the Supergirl writers bullpen apparently without understanding the Three Stooges reference to THEM, visualized metaphorically this episode as a neat idea for M’gann and J’onn to become a part of in a Martian mind meld type Spock reference callback. It sure made me laugh. But this whole episode had me rolling on the floor hiccupping. I actually was hiccupping. Especially when Lex was doing his Fortress of Stupitude remodel to Queen.
Supergirl’s spoken “Last Will and Testament”? Only Five Words. “Get Me Out of Here!”
Ah; Sentinel and her do-everything gun. Reminds me of another comic superhero with rings around the eyes who LOVES guns.
Yup, I know that Chyler Leigh’s next gig, after this show is over. will be at the Marvel Cinematic Universe as their new Rocket Raccoon. Can they put any more eye shadow on poor Chyler on this show? Think about it and visualize Chyler in Guardians of the Galaxy IV with her current get-up. They do not even need to CGI the character. She can play the raccoon live. Save them a tonne of money.
