I don’t know who’s going to pick this but I’m 100% team “Frozen”!
On to the podcast…
I’m going to say it – yay for Elizabeth because Elizabeth Montgomery! 😀
I would argue “Frozen” and “Tangled” are also jewels on the story telling front because while Disney always tries to do some moral lesson these two felt more like the “adult” 90s films such as “Beauty & Beast” or “Mulan” and I for one always appreciate when things don’t talk down to me try to act ultra superior in their story! I say this in regards to “Frozen 1” only because “Frozen 2” is nothing but a hour long CD commercial and more a toy pusher than actually them trying.
TOTALLY disagree about F2, it was predictable at every turn and it wasn’t as funny; the sister dynamic is lip service because Elsa doesn’t listen to Anna at all which was what saved them in the first film, and the big song from that is certainly no “Let It Go”. I would much rather have seen them do a “Tangled 2” than a Frozen sequel! I guess they skipped it though because they have the animated series for Tangled or at least did for a while, I’m not sure if it’s still even on.
You say man Rachel but #GiveElsaAGirlfriend! 🙂
“Well technically it’s one princess and one queen because it’s queen Elsa.” – Elizabeth is bringing out the big guns already! 🙂
“I feel like her sister was asking for it; she’s all ‘Higher! Higher!’.” – LOL; oh man Jeremiah that one got me…well done sir, moments of hard laughter from me on that one! 🙂
If we’re going actor V actor then yeah I have to give it to Mandy Moore because how can you not just be entranced by her?! Rupunzel is fun, but again I agree with Elizabeth in that I think she and Anna would be friends so it’s kind of a tie.
Mandy Moore wins for me singing for me also. This is where I actually give “Tangled” the win in this area because while “Frozen” arguably has a better soundtrack and definitely a more memorable song, I would rather hear Mandy Moore sing. This isn’t to slight Idina Menzel but between the two, for me, I’d rather hear Mandy.
As a side note, if you want to hear someone do some awesome covers of Idina’s stuff from “Wicked” give Willemijn Verkaik a listen (she was the one who did Idina’s part in a foreign “Wicked” production)! Here’s her also covering a Celine Dion hit and I’d argue she did it better which is saying something! ‘All By Myself’ – https://youtube.com/watch?v=5HQ1ujBOrq8 .
“The lanterns alone make me cry” – same!
I’ll say it – Olaf is overrated, Sven is better (he’s a reindeer Jeremiah)!
Better Soundtrack – “Frozen” easily, but better performance – Mandy Moore. Again this is to me!
Flynn versus Christoff – Christoff; but I agree Flynn is better fleshed out. Flynn was only made funny by Maximus, who’s also better than Flynn. Ha.
Hans V Gothel – they both are horrible people so I’d say tie on this one!
AAHH take it back Jeremiah – Maximus is awesome!!! 😡 That said “best sidekicks” goes to “Frozen” just for Sven. Here’s the ranking – Sven, Maximus, Pascal and then way down the list Olaf.
One liners category – I’ll give this one to “Tangled”.
“Yoo-hoo, big Summer blowout!” is the best. 🙂
Better story – easily “Frozen”! “Tangled” is very cliche when you start to examine it in my opinion where as “Frozen” feels very fresh in its approach; the Hans flip was not something most could have guessed because they were thinking he would be the cliche hero or Anna would have to pick between the rich man versus poor man with he and Christoff if you will so for that alone you have to give them major points. It’s a very female focused film even though there are male characters in it where as Flynn does play heavily in the movie and is arguably the lead of the movie even though the tale is familiar with Runpunzel. While Flynn doesn’t save the day exactly you could argue he forced Rupunzel into the situation where as with “Frozen” it is very much Anna saving Elsa; also the fact that “Frozen” is a love story about the sisters instead of a romance was VERY refreshing and deserves major points also! Every time I watch “Frozen” again I just fall more and more in love with it so yeah easily the best story adventure to me was “Frozen”!
Again the winner to me in this debate is easily “Frozen”. 🙂
Frozen 1 V Frozen 2 is again easy as it’s 1; 2 is a cliche piece of cinema designed to sell merchandise because the first film was a hit and they didn’t maximize their profits they felt. There is really nothing I enjoyed about 2 other than Christoff’s music video moment because that was well done. The fire lizard is cute but Sven or even Olaf, I hated Elsa not listening to Anna, Christoff was pretty pointless, it felt like a repeat of the first film with Elsa running away because of her powers and again the whole warring tribes thing…you could see the mom tie a coming a mile away. And this hasn’t even referenced until now how it’s weird the guard never aged; I know is suppose to be a magical land but if it can do that why can’t it save the parents and thus “Frozen 1” is different? Elsa is the Avatar basically now I guess? Ugh “Frozen 2” is just SO bad in my opinion! Also the music is not as good; again the only good parts were the music video from Christoff and the memory we see of the parents on the boat because visually that was interesting but yeah the rest is a big thumbs down for me and has me wishing they never made the sequel, certainly not that version of it.
Lindsey’s “Freaky Friday” is ok to good but her best Disney remake is always going to be “The Parent Trap”!
Once again fantastic feedback Aaron! Love the play by play. I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed the podcast! Elizabeth will be glad to know that you are on team Frozen. Thanks for sharing!
