If you can dream it, then you can do it! With Obsidian virtual reality contact lenses your imagination is the limit. Join nine million of your closest friends in an adventure with no limits. We have learned that here in National City seeing can be deceiving. Losing your grip on reality can be dangerous. What if someone takes control of your virtual world? What if someone turns your dream into a nightmare?
William is still tirelessly investigating Andrea. Kara wants to help. He is very resistant. This is a dangerous business and he is afraid to get Kara wrapped up in it. He doesn’t realize the Girl of Steel can handle herself. Strength alone will not save her. They are not dealing with just physical harm here. William speaks of the emotional and personal cost he has had to pay to chase down this story. William’s best friend Russ is gone and Andrea Rojas has something to do with it. Together William and Kara will get to the bottom of this story.
Alex is interrogating Breath Taker with the help of a truth seeker. Unfortunately answers are not forthcoming. It seems these Villains are accomplishing task without knowing the details of who they are working for. Brainy comes up with a plan to interrogate the mysterious Villain from two weeks passed. This leads to more proof that we are dealing with pawns in a bigger game.
Lena is making more progress in her lab with Malefic. She promises that she will remove the mind block that protects J’onn from his wrath. All he has to do is incept creatures with a growing level of difficulty. Malefic passes the test subduing an aggressive lizard turning it into a docile reptile. Now he wants his reward. He must be blinded with the anger he feels for J’onn. Lena’s mission is to do no harm. She will not remove the mind block so that harm can be done.
The launch of the contact lenses appears to be going smoothly but in the real world the DEO is tracking a problem. There has been a break in at one of Lex’s storage facilities. The thief has been identified as Rip Roar. A man who’s super suit gives him two additional long arms. Brainy says the marathon laser was stolen. This coupled with the pilfered particle amplifier can hit a target twenty six miles away and produce heat that is one hundred times hotter than the Sun. Kara must suspend her investigation with William and go check in with Alex. They are also using the private investigation skills of J’onn J’onzz. What he uncovers is truly unexpected.
When Kara confronts Rip Roar she is hit by the powerful laser. Supergirl is down but don’t count it as a win for the bad guys yet. Kara calls for backup and they fly off to Antarctica. Rip Roar has his eye on Lake Vostok and the Polar Ice Caps. He uses the laser to punch a hole in the ice. The resulting geyser causes a seismic shift. Supergirl radios Alex to let her know that the rest of the team must go to the waterfront. The melting ice and gushing water has the potential to cause flooding of biblical proportions.
The residents of National City are blissfully unaware of the danger that surrounds them. Alex is definitely in grave danger of many things including missing her date anniversary as she rushes to save innocent people lost in a dream. Back in Antarctica J’onn and Kara fly in formation to create a whirlpool to draw the water down and keep it from spilling out and flooding the Earth. Back in National City Dreamer is fully awake and battling a tidal wave with her dream powers.
Let’s hear it for the Superfriends. Another crisis has been averted but so much more of this story is left to be untangled. One question is answered. Rip Roar is William’s long lost friend Russ. His mission was to flood the planet starting with the West Coast. Andrea wouldn’t want that. The factories that produce her contact lenses are there. She would never make a decision that would jeopardize her own company. The mysterious woman who informed us that Leviathan is everywhere is impressed with Mrs. Rojas. What will Leviathan ask of her? What is this dangerous liaison? Join us next week for another adventure. Rest assured that our team can handle any crisis this world throws their way.

Yes John this is appointment listening!
I love Kelly the individual, I’m just not sold fully on Kelly/Alex relationship wise long term yet. Kelly is a lovely girl and I love how she’s giving this group therapy without them realizing it, she hasn’t got into the dark sides of them yet but it’s a start for these (quick Kelly go reel in Lena!) and I certainly appreciate her friendship dynamic at least with Alex but can I see them as endgame if you will – I don’t know yet.
OH MY GOSH, whew we dodged that bullet…can you imagine if they made James with his (thankfully) temporary powers Superboy on this show? That’s a table flip response worthy for sure! Powered James AND Clark talk, I don’t think I could have taken it. Ha.
It’ll never happen but I feel if you do the OTP question as a side question Justina just to see what the results are you have to include Lena as an option because I definitely get the argument some make that if she was a guy they might try to do the romance angle with them for drama. Also Kara needs to be on the list because maybe her perfect companion is herself and she just gets to be with others for fellow fun but her love is herself at the end of the day; it’s okay to have your lead be single writers, I know it’s weird to a point but it is a real option because some people just like to romance around. 🙂
I couldn’t decide if James wanted to be Clark or be with Clark in season one and did wonder if he was interested in Kara for her connection to him and also the fact she has powers as we know he’s a lover of those so I never bought into them as a long term romance but I do agree John they should have done more with Kara/James because the switch to someone else felt SO rushed! At least give them live five episodes into season two and then break them up.
Speaking of couples though – Space dad (J’onn)/(Eliza) Earth mom…they’d be awesome together I’m telling you! Also can you imagine the comedy that would come from the kids? Alex especially. 🙂
You know someone is going to take those VR thoughts and use them against everyone, it’s just a question of who and when.
Lena’s pulled off some good moves, but I do worry about that catching up to her; maybe it’ll be Rojas or Leviathan who out smarts her once (Lena will win the war) but I can just see Lena being blinded once and not having everything work out perfectly each time. Or maybe she’ll just think she has control over whoever she kidnaps next and they play her like she played Mal. As always the only thing that matters is the end result and that’s a good guy Lena Luthor! 🙂
BOO to Riproar being recurring because it means more William stuff!
I can actually understand Alex not wanting to make a move on Rojas without more information, but I understand too John your anger at the fact it seemed more linked to Kelly and how she would feel rather than being a tactical decision.
William is definitely a time suck to me.
K Vox wants potstickers! 🙂
That’s a fair point Justina regarding why Kelly does date a versary; also yes Alex is a badass and can’t stop being in the field!
Yes James go to Metropolis! Maybe they can do a fall-winter/spring-summer thing with the two super shows; “Supergirl” stays in the fall with “Flash”, “Black Lightening”, and “Batwoman” and Clark’s show does summer with the upcoming Mia Smoak show? Or maybe Clark and Mia do fall with Barry and Legends while “Supergirl”, “Black Lightening” and “Batwoman” do summer…Barry can’t effect us if we’re in different seasons right?! I’m still working on Barry proofing National City; he’s fun at times but I don’t trust him when it comes to leaving plots I like alone.

You will find Reign in the following books.
(vol. 6) books 5, 6, 7, 23, 30; in the novel “Supergirl; Daughter of Krypton” and 2 mentions in Superman Vol 5 as one panel cameo flashbacks.

The short version of Reign’s story is that she is an uplifted animal given superpowers as a lab rat experiment to create a class of bio-weapon known as “Worldkillers”. Unlike the usual madman Kryptonian scientist who creates runaway experiments such as Jax Ur (inventor of Krypton’s version of the ICBM and nuclear weapons); or that paragon of complete looney tunadumb (TM word; Montefescu) Jerkaspidistra Jor el (Managed to experiment on Kal El imbuing him with the ability to genetically disconnent from Krypton.). Jor-el also has a couple of dumb mistakes associated with Eradicator and Doomsday and his own genetic foul-up creation called H’el. Guess who Supergirl has to kill after he seduces her? You got it. Thank’s Uncle Jor for the petri-dish scum that deflowers KAra. HOWEVER… Zor-el, her DAD, really went out of his way to screw up, because not only did he create the five lab rat world-killers of his own to top Jor-el, whose own creation was merely leftovers from his experiments to monkey with his son’s genetics so Kal could be safely shot off Kryptobn, (See H’el at Comic vine https://comicvine.gamespot.com/hel/4005-86102/), who become space pirates, but he experimented on his own daughter to duplicate Jerk-Jor’s own genetic research, with devastatingly awful results with the same research program end-goals. Think of Iphigenia’s fate; but with a hideous crucifixion and subsequent Red Lantern rage-sodes thrown in for Kara zor-el. Supergirl (vol 6.) is a really messed up series if you look too deeply. How World-Killer Kara stayed sane (She did not as Guy Gardner, who has to mentor her back to sanity in the Charles Soule story arc “Red Daughter of Krypton”) at the end of Vol 6. when she becomes a barrista is a miracle.
Not since (Vol. 4), the Peter Alan David run of Earth Angel Supergirl has a DC character been put through such a ringer and mangled to a fare thee hello. Just trying to put the vol. 6 stories on TV would get a MA rating for subject matters addressed. I mean we are dealing with X-Men Chris Claremont tragedy territory and that is Kara’s default position!
Anyway, on to some cheerful commentary…
“I love Kelly the individual, I’m just not sold fully on Kelly/Alex relationship wise long term yet. When Kelly started out, she was supposed to be a nurse or have we forgotten this was her introduction to us the audience? Now she is a master cyberneticist, virtual reality expert, psychotherapist. In writing, we call her a Mary Sue. Yet another reason to write her off the show. When you describe a character by external traits and not by internal motivations, that is a 2-d Chekov McMuffin.
“It’ll never happen but I feel if you do the OTP question as a side question Justina just to see what the results are you have to include Lena as an option because I definitely get the argument some make that if she was a guy they might try to do the romance angle with them for drama. I want Team Luthor. Come on Supergirl writers, the no-talent hacks who gave us original Team Luthor (Roger Stern, Kerry Gammill, Brett Breeding) in February 1989 were as illiterate and talentless as you are, so I know you can crib it. Make that KARLEN ship float. I want Melissa to sport gonzorific (another trademarked word) dino-rubber spikes like a Kryptonian stegosaurus. Arnold Kevorkian’s SFX team needs to earn their keep!
“I couldn’t decide if James wanted to be Clark or be with Clark in season one and did wonder if he was interested in Kara for her connection to him and also the fact she has powers as we know he’s a lover of those so I never bought into them as a long term romance but I do agree John they should have done more with Kara/James because the switch to someone else felt SO rushed! Just stick James in Calvintown and give him a stuffed actor in a tiger suit for company.
“Speaking of couples though – Space dad (J’onn)/(Eliza) Earth mom…they’d be awesome together I’m telling you! Also can you imagine the comedy that would come from the kids? Alex especially.”
Might be difficult to write. BDM and MBL don’t fit as I visualize it.
“You know someone is going to take those VR thoughts and use them against everyone, it’s just a question of who and when.”
And then MARVEL will sue, because it is their idea.
“Lena’s pulled off some good moves, but I do worry about that catching up to her; maybe it’ll be Rojas or Leviathan who out smarts her once (Lena will win the war) but I can just see Lena being blinded once and not having everything work out perfectly each time. Team Luthor. Just repeat that enough and it will happen.
Rip Roar https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Rip_Roar_(New_Earth)
I don’t care how Apokalyptian he is supposed to be; he is still Doc Ock and MARVEL should sue.
“I can actually understand Alex not wanting to make a move on Rojas without more information, but I understand too John your anger at the fact it seemed more linked to Kelly and how she would feel rather than being a tactical decision.”
Writing Alex so outside the character bible as established that we are supposed to believe that she turns to “giggle-girl” and thinks that way when it is between National City or her “Kelly” is what I think actually throws the illogic into high relief. It is not so much anger as the mitoforebrainfrying that is experienced; the embarrassment that show runners think so little of us that they figure we will stupidly accept the sheer unbelievability of it. Some people may be romantics, but as someone once said; “incoming bullets have a habit of putting the love life in due proportion.” I think that might have been the guy in the foxhole next to Willie and Joe. (Bill Mauldin; look him up.).
“William is definitely a time suck to me.”
Stays Never On Mark needs to go to Calvintown. Maybe he can wear the stuffed tiger suit?
“K Vox wants potstickers!”
I thought we were not going to mention Chubby Kara anymore? Now you want to fatten up Krypto?
“That’s a fair point Justina regarding why Kelly does date a versary; also yes Alex is a badass and can’t stop being in the field!”
Date-adversary more like it.
“Yes James go to Metropolis! I’m still working on Barry proofing National City; he’s fun at times but I don’t trust him when it comes to leaving plots I like alone.”
Hmm. Not a bad idea from a production point of view as it would make maximum use of production resources and distribute costs across the year. It might even help ratings since new shows tend to track better than reruns.
Business side Monty.
I thought Kelly was always geared to be a therapist Monty? I don’t remember her exact casting announcement but I thought she was always a military therapist.
Okay, nothing is jumping to mind so I have to ask in the context you used it what do BDM and MBL stand for Monty?
“Team Luthor. Just repeat that enough and it will happen.” – que chanting GOOD GUY LENA! GOOD GUY LENA! GOOD GUY LENA! 🙂
Giggle girl is a perfect use Monty; I’ve been trying to think how to describe Alex this season and this is it, she’s high on love which is great but also presents conflicts with the version we’ve known previously. Or are we meant to take it this is Alex in a relationship – blinded by love at times?! I don’t remember her being this giggle girl when she was with Maggie even though she was clearly taken with her but then again she wasn’t the head of the DEO so the comparison is different; as an agent she’s got more leeway you could argue to screw up where as letting your emotions as the head guide you is more jarring for people to see. We know Alex is an emotional person when things get personal but it does seem like a lot of her recent choices have revolved around keeping Kelly safe instead of keeping everyone safe which is surprising.
Again I stand by the fact Alex not moving on Rojas was smart because the last thing she needs is a lawsuit if she’s wrong, but to make that choice because shes Kelly’s boss was too much. I love the writers want to work in the relationship but not everything Alex does has to be about Kelly. She could have easily again told Kara she wasn’t going to move on Andrea until she knew more because if they did that too soon then Andrea may close ranks where they’d learn nothing. Also we don’t see Kelly wondering how her actions will effect the DEO so it does feel one sided.
Alex is still my favorite character on the series I’ll be honest, but this season has felt kind of like they’ve held her back. You can protect Kelly while protecting everyone; heck say to Kara to watch for her please while Alex watches everyone else to meet a middle ground but making it about someone being after “my Kelly” feels arguably overkill. She never called Maggie “my Maggie”; is this their way of saying Kelly is more a match for Alex or is it just them showing Alex loves hard when she meets a girl she likes because I buy that as something Alex might do given we’ve never seen her in love outside of Maggie and Kelly but still does that really shut down her tactical thinking brain?
Even as emotionally charged as she was over Jeremiah she still had enough sense to bomb the crap out of Cadmus along the way to trying to stop the ship launch in season two. We’ll see how they continue to write her this season. Will she be a love interest plot more than head of the DEO for real finally plot?

Could be, probably am wrong, but I thought she was a combat medic.
“Okay, nothing is jumping to mind so I have to ask in the context you used it what do BDM and MBL stand for Monty?”
Momma Bear Liz and Big Daddy Martian.

If you are familiar with Archie Comics before it got weird and Jughead dons a shaggy doggy coat and Veronica grows fangs, “giggle girl” was Betty’s default braindead condition. One moment she is written as a common sense level headed character and the next moment she is whacked out of her mind “in love”. If this is where Alex is headed then paging Vanessa Helsing! One sharpened stake for Alex ready to go, please?
“Again I stand by the fact Alex not moving on Rojas was smart because the last thing she needs is a lawsuit if she’s wrong, but to make that choice because shes Kelly’s boss was too much. 2 tonne anvil ready to go in 3… 2… 1 CRUNCH… I do not think Acrata will be a villain, as she pans out ultimately. On the other hand, Stays Never On Mark, might not be a hero. We will have to let things percolate a bit. see if I am correct. Still want either a motivated Kelly or a write out. Plot Chekovs are the worst, especially the actor-McMuffin variety. Too 2 dimensional.

You can still love hard and not be foolish about it. Just finished “The Big Sleep”. You can “love very hard” and still be “a sensible human being”. How about a bit of Philippa Marlowe and less Alexandra Lunkhead, hack Supergirl TV writers? Alex is supposed to be the tough one of the Danvers sisters, not a school goyl with a crush.
“Even as emotionally charged as she was over Jeremiah she still had enough sense to bomb the crap out of Cadmus along the way to trying to stop the ship launch in season two. If you read my brief synopsis of Supergirl (vol. 6) by the 2Mikes, then here is your sicko Jeremiah moment; Zor-el, who has screwed poor Kara genetically and psychologically up so that she is functionally insane, and then bungles the Argo Life raft float-off, manages to run afoul of Brainiac as Argo City dies^1 and he is turned into a Cyborg Superman. He escapes Brainiac and comes across a bunch of “squick” aliens called the I’Noxians.
https://comicvine.gamespot.com/i-noxia/4020-58421/
These “evil-doers”, and there is no other way to describe them, are matter manipulators and illusionists. Anyway Zor, being the great daddy villain he is, lures Supergirl to I’Noxia with the intention of taking her body over and restoring his own “human condition” by swapping soul places with it. That is a soul swap with the intent that Kara’s soul be trapped inside the I’noxian illusion matrix as Zor’s is. There is implied incest and another “rape” involved as there was with the terrible H’el storyline that Scott Lobdell crafted^1 ; so that story kind of sucked. Anyway… too much Daddy-love again and refer to Iphigenia as the role model. So if that is the way the show writers on Supergirl are headed for Alex and Jeremiah, then YUCKO!
PS…
If you want to know why Supergirl (vol. 6) turned out so depraved… and sickening?
Eddie Berganza, the editor of the Super-shop at DC at the time… had problems.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/14/books/dc-editor-fired.html
He had a deleterious influence on the Super books. My opinion. YMMV.
